    I know it’s been a long time since this video was posted but I feel like I need to comment. Thank you so much for this video! It really helped me figure out that I want to go to medical school because I know I would absolutely love to figure out all of the little things of how our body works and to be able to help other people is something I really want to do as my profession.

    hey Dr Raga... your videos r really helpful....was wondering if u had any idea about IFOM exams...nd what about doing residency in gulf countries...thank you :)

    • @DoctorRaga
      @DoctorRaga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Yes the IFOM is an exam that many countries outside of the US (especially in the middle east) use as a qualifying exam for their respective residency programs! But most of these countries accept both the USMLEs or the IFOM! So even having done your USMLE can serve as a substitute for the IFOM depending on the country! So i would say do your research about the country you are planning to do residency in!

    Hello Dr.Raga your videos are really good. Firstly to introduce I'm Navya from India..and I'm doing my Mbbs 3rd year. I want to do my usmle after my graduation. But first to the basics.. I wanna know how much time I need to prepare step 1 ..you already mentioned that 4-5months of dedicated study is enough with first aid , u world, Kaplan videos and Nbme's ..but do we actually need to read all the Kaplan books or straight away go to first aid book? Is one of my questions. Do we need 8-9mnths of dedicated study for step1 as we people being Indian's.. I'm asking this because US medical schools have higher standards comparedly I feel..so can we people compete and gain good score and become a US resident? Please do help me to know about this as soon as you see this comment..thnkq

    • @DoctorRaga
      @DoctorRaga  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Navya! If you have devoted time to study, yes, 6 months is quite a good study period to get a decent score on your step 1. And for the step 1, it would be ideal if you could watch the Kaplan videos, read FA and solve the Uworld Qbank! However, out of all these resources, i would say that FA and Uworld and the MOST important resources and will help you the most! So definitely don't miss out on those!
      And it is DEFINITELY possible for foreign (including indian) graduates to obtain residencies in the US! Just work hard on getting good scores and building up your CV and you will be good to go! I will be making a separate video soon about the factors that are important in strengthening your CV when applying for residencies in the US!

      @@DoctorRaga i have a similar concern after i finish my mbbs in india ...to work as a doctor in us how long does it take including the duration of the residency and the requirements i need to finish b4 being eligible to practice in the usa since in india it takes about 5.5 yrs to fish mbbs and how will our relationships be during that process like is it possible to find space time and people after u go to usa

    • @DoctorRaga
      @DoctorRaga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Well where I went to college, we did have a course on calculus during my premed years. But it just depends on where you do college and medical school! I've heard of many international medical schools where math is not a prerequisite!

    Hi Doc! Love your videos. I need some advice, I scored 252 on the NBME 17 on December 20th, 2016. Today I scored 244 on form 16. I haven't chosen my test day jet. I am a bit concern because of the lower score in form 16. Should I pick a closer test day? I'm struggling between February 6th or 20th. I appreciate the help doc or anybody that should gime some advice.

      I mostly went back to my IM notes from medical school to brush up on ECGs! But you also find most of the ECG explanations and descriptions in FA itself!
