Thanks Mitch! Bacon saved. I spent half a day tugging and twisting at the cover. Before I bodily tore it off, I looked here. Push, push click and it's off!
Brilliant video, thank you. I recently got a 2012 Burgy 400 and wanted to know how to access the battery to connect up a charger and this video was perfect for me. A very good resource for all things Burgman 400, Thanks again and best regards
Hello from Portugal👏. i just want to say that acid batteries cannot be installed lying down, because otherwise the acid will start to come out. For this battery positioning on the bike, I recommend gel batteries. Congrulations for your job!
I have had a heckuva time with those little square battery bolt nuts falling out before. I finally tried a straw and it worked ok and if you wrap it in tape it works good too. Best thing though is I had some clear small diameter vinyl tubing that I used as a spacer under the nut to force it to the top. It was thick enough to keep it from falling out and would compress when the bolt went through the nut later. It allowed threading in the bolt super easy especially with the short ones they provide often with new batteries. Hope that helps someone
3:28 and 3:40 ... Hi Mitch, seems to me as if you didn´t tighten the screws strong enough....might get loose by vibration ?? Best regards from Bavaria (I own a Kymco New Downtown 125i - very happy with it) !!! Andy
Good morning! This video was about three weeks ago and I checked the bolts this morning, tighten 100% :) not loosen at all. That's awesome! I hope I find someone with that model to make videos! Enjoy your new scooter! 😄🙌🏼
Is it okay to have the battery in lay down position like this all the time? I had battery problems and my mechanic told me it's slowly depleting due to its position. However, I keep seeing more and more Burgmans where the battery is always laying down. On the other hand, when I think about it, my scooter also has an installed alarm system which may be draining the battery (IMO). Please advise.
Hi, my query about will please give to me some of advise about: and could you give to me some of idea I have trouble again with start an scooter the battery was change to another one from battery shop only the battery was filled with acid and charged after that and after when I put the battery inside and made an contacts nothing was happen at all even no light ! And after when I removed the battery and check it, saw on it very strong spark. Thanks.
Yes! I have this scooter since I bought brand new with no miles on it on June 27, 2007 and still love it. No problem and if you keep up with service then no problem
Thank you! If only one nut in there, it could fall down when trying to put the bolt in... hard time with that when battery is sitting sideway like that...
same here got a TMS YTZ12S UTZ12S Motorcycle Dirt Bike ATV Scooter AGM Battery once a yr or so pry the top off an replace the water and use a battery tender jr (on a Vespa GT200) and it is still going strong after 8 yrs.
i had an old scooter that i had to get rid of. It was very difficult to start. The repair shop said "charge your battery!". On several occasion they said the same thing. But, i am pretty sure it had a bad compression and the timing belt (or what it is called) might have been bad. The repairshop tried all the easy stuff, change sparkplug, CDI change and so on. If i had the tool available i could easily have checked the compression myself but i never did that.
I have a 2013 400, and I'm trying to replace the battery. I detached the leads just as you said, but when I pulled on the handle the batter wouldn't come out. What should I do?
I finally used a flat screwdriver and pried first on the side and then from the bottom and it finally popped out. I installed the new batter and everything's OK now. Thanks for the advice!
Heyyy mitch if u buy a lot of scooters i got some scooters i suggest u buy they're called Yamaha crypton x 135 Honda astrea Honda innova Honda 50cc yamha 50cc honda supra please buy one of these they're the best

Nice idea for the two nuts, thank you.
I don't have a plat for the battery on my Burg 400 :(
Just got one that was sitting for 3 years off the trailer, drained the gas, and it was nasty. Any suggestions other than a factory service manual?
Your videos are amazing👍🏼
anthony serrano Thank you so much Anthony!

Yes! I have this scooter since I bought brand new with no miles on it on June 27, 2007 and still love it. No problem and if you keep up with service then no problem
@@MitchsScooterStuff do you do any modifications on it , varatior change or somthing else for better rpm performance ?

😄👍🏼 You will get a Burgman one day, I believe in you!
Great video Mitch.
Why second nut under the new one?
Thank you! If only one nut in there, it could fall down when trying to put the bolt in... hard time with that when battery is sitting sideway like that...
I get 2 more years out of my battery by opening it up, adding salty water and charging it to 14 volts. Replaced it after 8 years.
lol

Put screw back in the battery post and pull with nose pliers 👍🏼
@@MitchsScooterStuff OK, I'll try that. Will let you know what happens.

Wtf, on my Burgman 400 K7, batery is Yuasa YTX9BS, 8.4ah.
Why do you use an 11ah battery if the manual also has an 8-9ah battery, actually ytx9bs
Hmm no idea… the size is same… 🤷🏼♂️

Wow! And off the bat; the cheapest battery you can get. Those quality batteries are terrible and dangerous.
Interesting, I have no issue with that battery, had one ran for 7 years 🤷🏼♂️
