I believe Ruyi knows perfectly well that she would try to take on the Empress Dowager herself if she were in Empress Fuca's shoes. She, however, doesn't have any children at all. Why? That is due to her unknowingly exposing her body to basil seeds, courtesy of Empress Fuca; not to mention all of the times she tried to frame or kill Ruyi, so this is really Ruyi killing two birds with one stone: 1, she shows gratitude to the Dowager Empress and eases some of the tension and mistrust between them. 2, she gets to pay Empress Fuca in kind for all of the things she did to her in the past. She's making sure that, even if she can only land one blow on Fuca, that it will be a wound she feels for the rest of her life.
