    My grammar isn’t the best. I had read this book previously and liked it. So when i found this video i was very excited. Sidenote- 3:10 when he talks about finding your role at every position, even the lowest one & how we are to build systems to get out of that. I started to burst into tears. Of happiness that is. I had been running a fairly successful business in hospitality for about 5 years. And i have never sat down and made a business plan. Never. I had played every single role of my business at one point- Bartender for events, bar designer, menu creator, bar consultant, accountant, booker, client relationship manager, warehouse manager, dishwasher for our bar tools, driver to events etc, you get the point. It was myself and over 15 other bartenders, freelancers who became very close to myself and the business. As business began to grow because of a busier season, we began to cut corners left and right & the service wasn’t the same. I no longer was proud of my work as when i first started the business, i let a lot of people who believed in me down a couple times. And I was no longer happy, on the other hand it was a ruff year. But I have a couple of great friends, and through seeking advice of many people, I started to read, and look for myself- I found this book through a good freind who worked with us- and because of this book he too is on a journey as an entrepreneur. 2020: I had eventually pulled myself out from behind the bar for the most part- (once a bartender always a bartender) so its the part i enjoy most. But by being on the other side of the bar and being able to see what my work looks like, i realized i needed to spend more time here.. so I had to get rid of all the other roles that kept me from doing so. In doing so i was able to better a lot more aspects of the bar/ design/ quality of cocktails etc, I fell in love with my work once again. In turn our bussiness became a lot more successful. I have a team of 4, we are working together to build a business that will produce meaningful work, for both our clients but also for the world as a whole. As mentioned in the very beginning my grammar and story telling skills aren’t to par: back to how this is relevant to bursting in tears. I had been constantly avoiding making a business plan, but I thought i had an idea of what i wanted, but these kept changing. As i now sit in planning out the future of momentum, i realized that the answer had been so simple. Build a system for every role, so you can get out of it ! it made me so happy to hear this. This recap and the book emyth, and principals (ray dalio) are the guidelines for which our bussiness will be run. Many blessings. Stay Safe.

      Thank you for sharing the struggle that you've faced in the past. I really learned a lot from your experience. I actually dreamt to be an entrepreneur my self and after I read many forums it shows that that early steps are very crucial for a business to run. One of my example of running a business is that I've tried to sold a take away lunch that only have a 10% mark up and man the effort was not fruitful at all. I actually had a partner to work with in this business but we tend be reckless in doing procedures which affects our supplies and also our time that definitely cost us big time. What happened is that to just keep the business running we eventually put our own money in the system for buying ingredients and for other operational cost. It is clear that most of it is bad planning, but after 3 months of bad execution i've learned my lesson that we have to do our research before we could start a business specifically the should and shouldn't do in the business.

    It is so true that an experienced person is already set in their ways, and they don't have that freshness for a growing business, but an inexperienced person is willing to learn, explore and experiment.

    Great Video , I been reading the book Since 2005 , bought more than 15 copies and gave them away. Did a radio book review about the book. I have never found such an accurate and detailed book overview in 7 minutes. Now , let me share your production work with others . Hope , you get as many likes and views that your productions deserves.

    I like this one. Even at a regular job it inspires you on how to set things up so that you can delegate tasks. Like basically automate as much as you can. Seems like common sense, but it finally dawned on me. There are a lot of things that I could tweak to remove a step and delegate the task.

    I do have one question what Steps should be taken to keep your system from being taken and used to create a competing interest?

    • @CMKaplan
      @CMKaplan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, saw no one answered your question thus I will. Although, your question varies highly in the kind of business you are in and the expert knowledge requirements from your workers. The way to start that system is to protect the data your company owns. NAS storage system backups, cloud documentations of everything is being done, and a company-wide knowledge database. Its up to you to share that with people or keep it to yourself with a password. Your system doesnt only consists of data but thats the most important. How the job is being done is harder to protect from ''stealing''. Its hard to not tell people the job they are doing. It can be done but its not cost effective. For example, army can do that for their private projects, they dont let the engineering team know what they are even building. In summary, start by protecting the data and its visibility managed carefully. Good luck.

    While the concept is good there are definitely exceptions.
    One such exception is the company i started. The company depends on me and that actually is the reason it will succeed.
    Why do i know it will succeed. It will be for 2 reasons:
    1. Other people leaving company doesn't affect company.
    2. I have eliminated the failure. Now neutral and success are only options for it.

    Great vid..only comment is that if you only hire people with zero experience, you don't get people coming in with experience of implementing new ideas elsewhere. Also, what if you needed a CFO? Would you get the senior widget maker to apply? No, you'd have to go outside the company and find someone with experience
