All a matter of preferences. I have my Grandmothers old treadle machine. Dates around 1900. It is a working machine. This fancy Victorian style pin cushion isn't something my Grandmother would have had by her machine. Possibly in a curio cabinet for display if given to her by a friend. Just not a practical item when piecing quilts or making clothing for my Father and Uncle.
Wooow Leonie, thank you so much for the time to share us this great tutorial. thanks for the tips and tricks. It is so easy to make,b ut the effect are fantastic. Hugs Beate
Thank you so much Donna :o) The stuff I dabbed on the end is Gesso mixed with fine decoration sand. I mix it in a small jar with a good closure and it stays in good condition for a long time. When it becomes too thick, I just add some water and it's good to go. I hope this helps =).
Enjoyed the beginning of this video. Appreciate the practical way of creating a stable base, for a pin cushion, from recycled goods. First "issue" I saw was using a rubber band to hold the batting in place. (sigh) Should have used wire, drawstring, or sewing to make that closure, as the rubber band will break. The batting will collapse further into the base if any pressure is applied. Sad, too, that the beautiful simplicity of the beginning turned into an elaborate Victorian display of extravagance. One that if it isn't kept under glass will become a dusty time worn yellowed relic without serving the intended useful purpose. To each his/her own. Fine for those who enjoy this stuff. Just not my cup of tea for useful items.
Hey girlie :) Wasn't having that great of a day and this just made me smile :) loved the whole process and thank you for another great project video Big hugs xoxo Sabs
Yes!! See, I knew hitting you with the mojo stick would help (sorry about the big bump it left though) I will try not to hit you as hard next time, lol ;o). You did a fab job on this pin cushion, I love the start to finish! I really enjoyed watching you work and all the different layers that you used. Every time I thought you were done you added something else! I love the little touches of blue xxx
Very nice work...makes a nice decoration but as a pin cushion you could have stopped with the black roses. Thank you for sharing...you have given me some could ideas. :)
Very nice work. A bit too ornate for my taste, but it would make a lovely gift for someone who loves to sew. Very smart use of the tape dispenser's empty cardboard ring.
Thank you so much :o) and for letting me know about the step by step vid. I plan to do more in the future if people like them, so I really appreciate your feedback xoxo.
Dit is ook al weer zo mooi!! Ben onder de indruk van je creaties Leonie. Ik heb een vraagje: wat voor spul gebruik je op het laats wat je er met je vinger opdept?
Very pretty, but I have a question for you, is it possible to make this without a glue gun, maybe with superglue or any other tube glue without the gun?
Groetjes, Leonie.
Hello darling!! :o) I think some brain cells fell down to the right position when you hit me with the mojo stick ;o) so please do it the exact same way next time you hit me *lol*. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me such a sweet and funny comment my friend. I plan to do more start to finish vids in the future if people like them, so I really do appreciate your feedback =) Big hugs xxx.

love this. What type of GLUE are you using? There seem to have been several requests for this, if you have time, could you please tell us, thanks.
Most likely, she's using fabric glue (Walmart has it in craft section). The other is a glue gun, which is easy to find, too.
Beautiful!
