    Brought tears to my eyes! Africans have done so much, with no respect. Much respect and love Mr. Edwards!

    Just WOW. I hope these African artifacts and many others continue to be protected and collected by more black collectors.

      Never Ever I'm white, but have quite a few middle to upper class black friends. |None of them have any interest in African art, unfortunately.

    • @bobbyzion12
      @bobbyzion12 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Your right, most middle to upper class black people usually stay well away from anything considered overtly black. Ironically, all those I know who actually collect traditional art probably could never afford these.

      @@brianrichards7006 it seems like some people are afraid of connecting with their roots....

      @@bobbyzion12 No upper middle class person could afford these. He has a Benin bronze plaque. The largest collection of Benin Bronze plaques are in the British Museum. Sotheby's sold a Benin bronze figure for over $2 million. Every single piece is so exquisitely chosen, it rivals the Arfican art collections of any major museum of the world. He deserves his own museum, and I need a book so I can see all of these. This is a very OMG video.

    • @LeCanalBarbaraAnne
      @LeCanalBarbaraAnne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littlegothgirl8869 I can't speak for others. Few people can afford to pay $2 million for a Benin Bronze head. But books and time studying, people can do. I just can't believe how great this collection is.

    16:18 "...I was a person in search of self. I wanted to know who I was. I felt that something was missing. I knew that I came from a great past thanks to what my father taught me, but I wanted to know more.... I wanted to know what we contributed to the world. Why? I didn't want anybody to tell me we were great. I wanted to know in fact we were great and why we were great...and what we did."

    Not only is the Eric Edwards Collection breathtaking, but the story behind it inspires resonant and reverberating pride. What a warm and amazing discourse, full of passion, wisdom and reverence! At the nexus of memory and vision, I hold much respect and gratitude for his gift of culture - the artifacts and legacy - the man himself! Blessed by griots, Brother Edwards takes us on his journey, winding us home along the way. All Together as One.

    Ekom do, Etubom Eric Edwards! "Ekom do" means greetings, "Ette" means father and "Etubom or Ette Ubom" means man of honor in the Ibibio language. Yes, perhaps over a million Ibibios were snatched and shipped out to be enslaved in Europe, the Americas and the West Indies, including Barbados. The Ibibio presence in the West Indies was obviously strong enough to influence arts and culture throughout the region. For instance, the Ibibio word, KAISO (Go forward), became the foundation for the musical genre popularly known as CALYPSO.
    The spirits of our ancestors, it seems, are united in their choice of Etubom Eric Edwards as their chief spokesperson at this time. Etubom Eric Edwards, in my opinion, is a reincarnated African soul, possibly of Ibibio extraction. His breathtaking collection of African arts, artefacts, record albums, etc. must NEVER be allowed to pass into the hands of those whose forebears did so much to damage our beloved Motherland. I'm sure there are profiteers already lined up to cash in, but that must be resisted at all costs, for there shall be grave spiritual consequences if that happens. Black is the highest culture, don't you know?

      Because sending them to a museum allows the museum to have control of the narative. He wants to tell the story correctly and in the words of Africans.
