Definition of insertion?

The insertion sort works by inserting each item into its proper position in the list. This sorted method is very simple and easy to implement. In insertion sorting is inefficient for a larger list of an array. In insertion sorting,the list is ready from the beginning to end .After each iteration,one element is inserted into its correct position relative to the previously sorted element of the list . The array elements are not swapped or interchanged .
