That was my very 1st bike I bought brand new in 81. I sure wish I would have seen this video when it 1st came out. I've been looking for a pristine example of this bike for some time.
I had this exact bike, color and everything. Great bike. Had to park it outside and the rust ruined it. I really love the way it looks and sounds. Wish I had it back.
I bought one of those off the showroom in San Clemente CA brand new. Loved it. That was my fourth and last New Honda I have had. Very cool memory. If one of these was around and in this type of condition I would consider such.
Back in the 90’s moms cousin used to have one exactly like this one, same year. They had taken off the silencers from the mufflers and it sounded soooo badass.
I have this exact 1981 CB 750 custom but mine has a Vetters fairing and tail trunk. I bought it new in 1981 from a Honda dealer here in Wisconsin and as I didn't have a lot of opportunity to ride it over the years it only has about 18,000 miles on it. It has always been garaged so it still looks great and runs great once I get it started for the first time after it sits for a while. I spay fogging oil into the cylinders and through the carbs every Fall. The only major problem I had was the alternator rotor magnets failed to charge several years ago, and I had to replace the rotor. I also have to put a new battery in it every two years or so as even though I remove it in the fall and put it on a trickle charge it still doesn't seem to last. My exhaust system has had to be patched up as I had some rusting where the pipes go into the exhaust and I thought about buying some after market exhausts and modifying it as a four into two instead of four into four. I believe the Honda CB 750 F model of the same year was built that way. I'm not sure if I would have to re jet the carbs if I did that? Mine too also has a throttle lock, as on any long trips holding the throttle can become a chore because of the four carburetors spring tensions.. It's pretty heavy with the Vetters fairing and the wind resistance cuts down on the top speed so there isn't much chance I would get a ticket on an 80 mile an hour freeway at my 180 lbs weight. It's about maxed out at 80 - 90 mph. Whoever designed the speedometer has a tick at 85 MPH as the max it will show anyway. The nice thing about a four cylinder is the lack of engine vibration. I had a BSA twin years ago that the vibration would make my hands numb after about an hour of highway riding. The single cylinders that are being sold now are probably only good for city riding as at highway speeds the vibration would be irritating I think, although I haven't ridden any. Nice video. Engine sounds the same as mine.
A classy superbike i must Say? Correct me if i'm wrong. Sounds amazing, there's just a few videos of the custom model in TH-cam. Low units in the US or what? Keep riding! From Argentina!
I had a1980 Custom great bike had a friend that worked at G&C Honda where I got it and he put a 4 into 1 Kirker header on it changed the chain sprocket's on it or something and re-tuned it turned her into a bad little Bitc_. Totaled it about a year later oh well like the bumper sticker reads S-Happens.
Bought one Just like that one for $1800 when I was 16 (1992) and it had 57,000 on it. Only ran out of gas Once.. Wish it had a Fuel Gauge. Traded it for a Motor Home in 1999 and got $2500 for it. Just got another one 3/25/2022 with only 28,000 on it for $2200 but it does need a Valve job/Adjustment but can be driven as is. Came with a Front Cowl, Not attached, and someone made it HD style exhaust.. I got on it after all these years and Daaaammmmmmnnnnn it felt Soooooooo goood to be back on it.... Again just wish they came with a Fuel Gauge.. Any Ideas that don't have something hanging off the side of the tank? Any that go Into the Tank?
I have the same bike. Where can I find parts for this like the alternator and carburetor. Can you direct me to anyone that can fix on this bike as well

Update. Just w Week after having it, Engine Went to Shite! and could barely move itself under it's own power. Just got it back 2 Years Later after shop put in a New Engine and went over it and the Carbs and and and... Just under $5,000 into restoring it. Got home and my right leg was Wet... Oil! Sprayed Oil Everywhere... Have to take it back... YEA!
My dad left me this exact bike before he passed last year. I want to restore it and get it running again. Wish me luck!

I had this exact bike but in the maroon color, sold it in 2003. Now I ride a 2009 BMW F800 GS, but I sure miss that Honda.

Funny you mention the rotor/stator, mine also failed and I got it rewound. Perfect fix. Some guy operating out of his garage near Orangeville Ontario.
