- Typically the CPU cooler space is pretty boring. But the Hyte THICC Q60 changes everything. It uses insane fans, an ultra thick radiator and one of the most unique pump designs around with a massive 5" LCD screen. It looks and sounds great but is this all nothing but hype?

Remember the time when AIOs only job was to just cool your CPU while keeping it as simple and quiet as possible?
This is just ridiculous, but as long as there's a market...
Crossing fingers that Hyte launches it without a screen and $100+ lower.
@@HardwareCanucks Heh. Don't hold your breath, Mike.

This is literally "anything to avoid the patent troll"
Asetek’s patent? When does it expire? Some companies like Deepcool made a dual chamber cpu block to avoid that patent. So, the integration of the pump into the radiator isn’t necessary.
Remember, the Asetek patent expires in 2025 but they're also running out of money due -in part at least- to the amount of litigation they're handling right now.
HC: "This CPU Cooler could change EVERYTHING"
Me: "Trust me, it changes nothing "
Yup, I’m planning to use a Deepcool ls720 in my first build and this is not making me change my mind
@@itsZombieManI went for the cheaper LE720 and I wasn't disappointed at all! I assume the LS720 must be even better
Me: That big lcd screen will definitely make my PC waaaaay faster, Im getting it.
@@itsZombieManlook into the thermalright frozen Notte 360. $70 shipped from Amazon it is the best bang for the Buck. Keeps my CPU at 30°c idle and even under stress tests barely got over 45°c. I had a corsair h100i before it that finally quit after a long service life and even in its prime it didn't cool this well.
My wallet is gonna be lighter. I will be faster shedding all that weight

nice reviewing! nice sound display in the review
Man id love these fans in a push/pull at 1000rpm would be a quiet ass custom loop.
At 300 USD, baller PC builders would look at custom loops, and normal builders would rock an Amazon stats screen with a standard AIO
Agreed! If I was looking to spend that kind of money it wouldn't be for an aio.
...I trusted the title. I should not have.
This review is very different than all the others I've seen so far, everyone else had very negative review of this, with testing data.
Without knowing their methodology, they likely test on different sockets.
Someone (I think it was in optimum‘s review) imo nailed it by commenting, that this AIO is meant for TH-camrs - rather than consumers. Getting PR, pushing the brand etc.
I wouldn‘t want a cheap looking „HTC One X“ kind of screen in my pc case.
Tastes my vary, though.
That's a poor take IMO since Hyte actually do back it up with performance. Its not like this was done with the intent of focusing solely on looks. If they only wanted the screen as a marketing gimmick alone, they would have launched a standard AIO with the screen slapped onto it and called it a day.
@@HardwareCanucks no perfomance lmao
@@HardwareCanucks Performance is only good if you're comparing it to other 240mm AIOs that, at most, cost less then 2/3 of what it does, and often less than half. Despite the thicker radiator and fans (which can push this AIO dangerously close to clearance-issue territory in some cases), any decent 360mm (and probably 280mm) AIO will still perform better, and pretty much every one of them will also cost less.
@@HardwareCanucks its a pretty accurate take...makes this cooler look awful
looking at the specs of it that CPU cooler is a faster computer than my first one.
Your icon name and source
I purchased the Thermalright Frozen Edge 360 AIO and paid like $55 and to be honest it works amazing. I couldn't believe that an AIO at this price could be so great in both performance and quality honestly. I will definitely continue to purchase from them for here on out since they are so affordable and really truly are manufactured high quality. Also really enjoy the fact this AIO only has RGB on the pump block itself, which consists of just a small strip of light that wraps around its edge. All that needs to be done is to be plugged directly into my motherboard RGB or any other controller to sync without any software. Absolute crazy performance per dollar cost overall for the Frozen Edge i can confirm that, but i have never purchased there other models so cannot confirm anything for them specifically, but would expect them to be decent also.
I just got the frozen notte 360 a couple weeks ago and love it! It replaced my corsair h100i that finally died after a decade. I had moved that h100i to multiple builds and it did its job, however even in its prime it didn't cool as well as this new cooler. I'm getting 30°c@ idle and barely above 45°c loading up my ryzen 5 3600 with prime 95. For $70 shipped I still can't believe how good the quality is and how well it works.
They could add a button which you press and the AIO appears in the PC as a removable flash storage, microcontroller running this AIO most likely supports it.
It then has got a config text file which you use to set settings/modes, then you also can upload your pictures/gif/mp4.
This way the software is not needed.
$300 is a little much for a AIO monitor or not
The monthly payment on my 2021 Accord is less
People need to let the cooler be a cooler.
Appreciate for showing us the Thermal data and noise data. I actually purchased one since my 13900k cannot keep up with Deepcool Assassins under load. I am just waiting on my Y70 case to arrive to install everything.
During the pump loudness portion, even with my phone volume maxed, I could still barely hear the pump, doesn't seem like it's an actual issue lol
It really changed... to something stupid and expensive because of an LCD display.
What is the next step? Put a toaster on the block?
Nice PC one and explication HC.
one of the BEST AIO reviews I have seen. Fair and Balanced, as they say and VERY informative performance graphs. One question: where is the Arctic LF III curve on the Ryzen 9 7950X (Full Load) Temperatures chart? I see its entry in the legend but no graph. I;m thinking of getting the LF III and adding the HYTE THICC FP12 fans (their performance is outstanding) and should really help the LF iii's already stellar numbers.
Two pumps? Makes me wonder what failure rates will be.
It only takes two pumps for me.
My failure rate is two pumps 😅
Your accent is awesome! I like it a lot! :D
$300 and it doesn't have a fill port? Nah, I'm good... pumps inevitably fail and you have yourself a big ol lump of e-waste.
I hope this doesn't ever catch on.
I hope it does, and everyone you know gets one
that giant screen on the pump is a deal breaker
I want 7 of those fans for my build. Hoooly!
I will stick with my boring Arctic Freezer for better cooling on my CPU and not burning my wallet
Hyte is releasing the P60 240mm that doesn't have that big ass LCD screen and also Q80 that's in 360mm size.
I'm reconsidering HYTE case now. Especially this particular model in this video.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around "attention to detail" with tubes running afoul of GPUs in the same product.
Does the Nexus software work in Linux?
I've been planning to upgrade to AM5, and despite what you said about mounting, this still seems like the most interesting option. The noise matters zero to me cuz I've got a dehumidifier and sump pump on the other side of the room as my PC, cuz basement. Compared to that PC noise can only be heard if you're listening for it.
In one twitch stream a Hyte rep was saying the AIO would not fit tubes down with that AIO and case, which is clearly wrong given HC did just that in this video.
How about a review on those fans alone?
Working on it
Don't you need the tubes going into the rad to be above the cooler for correct AIO installation?
noup. it all has to do with pump. and it is not the top point
They took a shot and missed again, at least for me. So far, the one product i have liked is their hub and software 😆
As far as innovation, offset mounts for ryzen would be a nice and simple start. Arctic figured it out years ago. idk why the others are taking so long for.
There's no space to offset the mount since the screen already smashes into a vertically mounted GPU. Offset that and they'd get into even more installation trouble.
now I have to go re-measure my ITX case
You could probably get a custom loop for that price.
The fans i have on aio top out at around 2000 and those thicc fans are still some how quieter at 2000 RPM.
What motherboard do you have installed for the bulk of this video?
Asus X299 Deluxe Edition 30
Let me know when they realease a more non-bling-bling version
can the screen help reduce the temp? Otherwise it changed nothing
LOLz.... come on man... LOL! you entertained me for about 10 min.
Ridiculous and silly. Who stares at their PC to check a massive screen and or/temps? I still don't get the obsession with temperatures.
Saw this on Jay's channel last week
Title should've been "This CPU Cooler Didn't change anything"
Great! I get to relive my Windows 98 interactive screensavers again! Gonna escape that maze someday!
Put twitch chat in a weird spot?
That cooler might be thicc, but Mike is looking mighty svelte.
For Ryzen 5000 series Cpu's, are the Intel or Ryzen Am5 results more relevant?
Can't change my underware.
2:10 - So making a radiator thicker doesn't add surface area? I'm pretty sure it does.
It does offset the sacrifice but my point is that the rad needed to be upsized so much in order to compensate.
Doesn’t fit honestly. Looks exactly like a smartphone hanging off the motherboard
Do we still monitor if we can just see the lcd at expensive AIO?
Those using liquid cooling either love to flirt with danger or are wealthy enough to not give a shit about the risks of their liquid cooling potentially destroying thousands of dollars of hardware.
And no need to say "my liquid cooling never leaked" it's not because it never happened to you, that there's no risks and that it doesn't happen to others.
Mike please review deepcool mystique 360.
another one i think could be cool to look at is the deepcool mystique
How do you even get your cpu to idle at 30c? I got a i7-13700K with a thermalright frozen notte 360 and it spikes between 40-60c the lowest it will ever get is 34c but it doesnt stay there for long. My pc is only a couple weeks old and i built it myself
I bought a frozen notte 360 for $65 and added a stick on HDMI screen for $20 (thats recogbized as my 3rd monitor)
SO FOR $85, i got a screened AIO. I could even play games, videos, or so ANYTHING on it, as its recognized as a monitor and connected directly to my GPU.
Awesome! I got the same cooler, what screen did you get and where?
I want a black 360 version, but probably never gonna happen.
An LCD screen on top of the water block is not new. Putting a pump inside the radiator is not new. Pump takes up about 25% of the cooler capacity/efficiency? A 360/420 radiator may work better with this design. A cooler that could crash? Needs 4GB of Memory? Need their custom case to use this??? If you can't route the fluid lines in their custom case you have the wrong cooler in the first place. I don't see any comparison to MSI MAG Core. More serious gamers go for wireless headphones... They are not worried about fan noise when things start to heat up. Custom non-RGB fans are not compatible with anything else on the market.
With this kind of thickness and compatibility issues, I wonder why they bothered with a 240mm configuration when a 280mm would perform even better.
Might as well go custom/open-loop.
TBH, I'm more interested in the Nexus software. Can I simply download it and use it with a universal 5"-7" stand alone screen? Now _THAT_ would be a true game changer.
Sadly, no. Not yet at least.
I run a 2U server water cooler in my build. Those things SCREAM at 8000RPM. Dynatron L35. But my i7-13700K never throttles even running at 5.6GHz
I think Aris from Hardwarebusters tested these fans and whilst at full blown noise levels they just pipped the T30's. At every other noise level where most users would want to run their fans the T30's are still the king of 120mm fans and unsurpassed.
Why no mount screen portrait??
A guy definitely named that product
I had 3x TK-123 fans on a radiator... everything short of server fans seems quiet in comparison. Dual pumps seems silly in this application.
I love what Hyte has been doing. I would love to have this AIO but I have gone full send for Lian Li eco system and I dont want to try and mix and match anymore. If Hyte had the AIO, the cases and the fans with better software then I would 100% give them a shot for my business over Lian Li.
slightly OTT phraseology here 'SMASH into the motherboard !!"
This CPU Cooler could change EVERYTHING? Change what? Noise level in my room maybe!
Thanks for reviewing this one. I was really excited until I saw the flaws and the price tag. For $300, they definitely should've done better, especially since it's going to be a product that a lot of people will have trouble putting into their PCs. And it's not even user-maintainable. :(
At the price this is selling at, nothing is gonna change xD
this thing could well with threadrypper....i mean its thick and lots of collant inside...so hopefully good colling capacity....
but cosiderig their "compatibility" restrictions i dont think its gonna sound well with lots of people....
I can see a lot of streamers getting one.
I can't get into the trend of putting screens inside PCs. Just seems extremely tacky to me.
That’s why I got a Corsair 7000D…
And the only other case that I could consider buying is the Phanteks NV9. I like to be prepared lol
Twin pumps with larger diameter tubing would make better sense because higher water flow is better.
Imagine wanting a screen in your computer….
The thing you rarely stare at, even if it is beautiful…
I don’t have to imagine it…I look at one every day with my lian li computer standing/sitting case/desk. My stats panel is a small hdmi monitor that I just look down at to see all my sensor info.
An actual company officially named a product: THICC..... now I've seen it all
XFX was way ahead of them.
you havent upside down pump shall not force its better to have cable or slang over not under
Hyte just make 360mm with a fill port.
chuck an iPad in there for less than $299 lol
though very awesome and cool! anyone else noticing a trend here? as the overall computer itself is getting smaller and smaller, the cooling kit required to run the computer is getting bigger and bigger! reminds me a lot of DWAVE quantum computers, the computer itself is tiny, but needs to be encased in an industrial freezer to cool it!
Where the heck are you getting the mm thickness measurements from for the radiators?? The Arctic Freezer III’s radiator thickness is 38mm just like the Freezer II, 65mm?? eh no. Just look at them compared to the 25mm thickness that most fans are.
The Thicc Q60’s radiator is 52mm, not 84mm, lol.
thickness including fan thickness too maybe?
@@user-hd3br4hn9y nope, standard PC fans are 25mm thick like they are on the three AIO’s shown, even if you add that to the 52mm radiator it only comes to 77mm, not 84. It also clearly states on the Thicc Q60’s product webpage that the radiator, nothing else, is 52mm. Just a silly amateur mistake on their part that makes no sense considering the standard thickness for fans and the comparison to other known AIO’s they showed and the seconds it takes to check the official info.
@@WhiteHawk77 except he said those hyte fans are 32mm thick, not 25mm. So there's your 7mm discrepancy
@@user-hd3br4hn9y you’re correct, I was just eyeballing the Hyte fans and with them all not level and that being unusual for case and AIO fans as they are usually the same thickness I missed that. Still, he did say radiator thickness while displaying the mm number over the radiator, so I guess it comes down to bad editing and wording decisions.
@@user-hd3br4hn9y also the Arctic is 63mm with fans, I know as I recently just installed a 360 version in the front of a Corsair 4000D, and it barely fit as the PSU shroud extends nearly all the way to the front and I had about 1-2mm of clearance to manoeuvre it in like I thought, if it had been 65mm I wouldn’t even have got it in even with all the tricks I had to use.
1:28 Bruh, why did you have to violate the port like that?? 💀
Thickness does increase surface area. pretty cool design and chunkness
Whoa, I click on a HC video for first time in a while and I see someone new?? Where is Dmitry haha
"New" haha. I'm one of the founders of HWC. - Mike
@@HardwareCanucks oooo gotcha
Not just no, Hell no. I have completely moved away from anything requiring proprietary software to operate. LianLi lost me when their software download link directed me to a google drive (?), and at one point the CAM software crashed so frequently that I just trashed my old NZXT Kraken. I switched to an Arctic Freezer 3 so pumps and fans all plug into motherboard headers and are controlled using Fan Control.. which is open source and has been dead stable for me. RGB is all run to the controller in my case, so no software there either. I really like the look of these ecosystems, and in theory you can do some really cool stuff with them. I don't even mind the expense... but until the software rises above trash tier, they aren't worth the time IMO.
ALF3 is missing in 7950X chart?
Old news bro...I got one it didn't even compare to a 360aio so I returned it..thwy can't compete it doesn't even come close like it says it can
tryx PANORAMA 360 white vs hyte thicc Q60 Pls I really wanna know the witch one is better
They should have made it mountable to the front or top of case😂
The screen is fine but the form factor isn't. Also I bet it doesn't work under Linux so... meh.
Question regarding the positioning... With the pump integrated in the radiator, is it still good in the roof of a case? It seems like there's enough space to make the pump not the highest point, but it's damn close. Thoughts?
These integrated pumps don't have to be at the highest point of your loop.
LCD screen is interesting but to anyone that isnt looking at the pc but glances? probably nice for those older eyes that cant see a normal. small lcd on other aios but this has a big price on it but i want it at some point lmao. still better options but the cooler thickness is interesting but it is a good combo got intel and amd but the mounting of it, may be a problem
3:20 For a company so focused on design, the fans and the radiator contraption not lining up is embarrassing.
Thick rads don't work. Blocking a lagre part of it, well, it makes it even less working. Not sure what is the "news" about this one. Most of its tricks have been applied a bunch of times before. Most of the tricks simply do not work.
Efficiency over gimmicks for me. Give me extra cooling performance over nonsense I'll get tired of anyways, any day.
