Not nearly the worst what we've heard from the reaction channels. You as musicians hear it better what was wrong with the sound. Maybe just make a short practice run, and I think you'll get it where you want it.
But your reactions were interesting to watch in many levels: your fun, your professionalism in musical perceptions, your real reactions to the painful truth, compassion for the kid and other emotional stimula. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing this song as their first single released from their 2020 9th studio album "Human :||: Nature". Being the first single released, they made the effort for a high quality video production, as you noticed.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I could see, you appreciated the voice of Floor Jansen, the composition and the musicianship of the entire band. Imo that's a good start for you.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Great reaction guys, the guy rocking the horns and taking a selfie was Kai Hahto, he is the drummer for Nightwish, the guy getting beaten up with the red phone was Emppu Vuorinen, the Nightwish Guitarist, the pill selling guy was Marko Hietala the Bassist / Vocalist in Nightwish, the guy on the toilet was Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrumentalist in the band playing exotic pipes and whistles etc as well as adding vocals, The Green Guy, hugging trees yet bathing in oil is Tuomas Holopainen, the Keyboardist from Nightwish and real creative force behind the band as he writes and composes the vast majority of their music, and of course the "mommy" in the video was our much loved Valkyrie goddess - Floor Jansen who is the current vocalist for Nightwish -The blonde girl was an addition for the video she is Jessica Edstrom a Finnish-Swedish Model & Film Actress - You should check out a lot more Nightwish, they are so varied, they really excel live, you have never heard it all, but im sure the Nightwish Army will be along soon to convince you too :)

Do more Nightwish...you feel soon how amazing they are in every way. Actually they do not make music (only), they make deep poetical intellect performance journeys into something which touches and enters your soul. The more you study them the more you agree.
So many songs to suggest, and all of them are good, but my recommendation if you want “harder” Nightwish is: Romanticide, Yours is an Empty Hope, Master Passion Greed (Marco the bassist shines here), Weak Fantasy, Song of Myself, and Tribal. Just to name a few.

I'd definitely suggest doing Nightwish live, always. Their studio versions aren't bad, but the quality of their live performances are insane.

If you are not familiar with the Nightwish, there are all the band members acting: Floor Jansen (singer) as mother, Marko Hietala (bassist) as drug dealer, Troy Donockley (multi-instrumentalist) as king, Tuomas Holopainen (keys, music and lyrics) as a greenie with the rubberduck, Emppu Vuorinen (guitarist) as a monk who gets knife and Kai Hahto (drummer) as the monk with the phone. I will repeat myself because this is so important; Always, always, always try to react to Nightwish live. They are one of those rare bands that sound way better live.
Nightwish is a Finnish band and here are the members currently:
- Tuomas Holopainen - Keyboards & main composer/arranger - Finnish
- Floor Jansen - Main Vocals - Dutch
- Marco Hietala - Bass & Vocals - Finnish
- Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist - Finnish
- Kai Hahto - Drums - Finnish (Previous drummer was Jukka Nevalainen, he left as the drummer in 2014 and is now with the band's management team)
- Troy Donockley - Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bouzouki, etc. - English
The backing tracks are recorded with the London Philarmonic full orchestra and choir.
They had 2 previous singers Tarja Turunen 1996-2005 and Anette Olzon 2007-2012.
Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself:
Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list:
- Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes
- The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes >>> Doing some research on the background story for this song is very important to be able to appreciate the meaning of the lyrics.
- Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes
1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great.
2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show.
3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned.
4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2018 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned.
5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
6- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock.
7- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired.
For the first 4 steps, you can alternate between shows, but I would recommend to still only take songs that are not performed in the previous shows mentioned, as they are ordered in audio quality from best to worst.
From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen.

Think of Nightwish as the band where Mettalica, Pantera and Iron Maiden meet Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Richard Wagner. The band is basically an all star cast.
Nightwish official live performances are more fun to watch than their studio tunes. For something heavier try Romanticide, Storytime or Ghost River to name a few at the Wacken 2013 open air concert. Live is where they shine. If you haven’t heard Floor Jansen in a live performance you’re in for a treat. I enjoy reactions more when musicians are doing the reacting. 😄🤘

The guy with the horns up you found funny is the new Drummer but not untill after the 2013 Wacken show he is still with the band in a different way now , Nightwish is the best live band ever & you should check out the Wacken 2013 show , The Singer was only in the band for around 6 months as a temp but this show was so dam good they asked her & Troy the other new member (Pipes & Whistles) to become permenant members right after this show. They played 15 song there and they are all different and crazy good Enjoy the night wish army because we know how good they are and you will be on there radar now . Start with Wacken 2013, its epic, but Wembley, Tampere and Buenos Aires are all very high quality recordings of their concerts, if you want to hear them from newer concerts. They have songs that are more metal, and songs that are more symphonic and songs that are "Celtic" inspired, in my opinion the most diverse band, when it comes to composition, not two albums or songs are the same. Btw the band menbers played all the big roles in the video, apart from the woman in red.

When Floor and also Troy were in the band it is my favorite band, and i always listen to the live performances, because that is the best because of it is so dynamic, full of energy, it is so cinematic, the bandmembers taking the audience on a colorfull musical adventure full of key change surprices hand by hand. love them.

1) Nightwish may be classified as Symphonic metal band but they also do folk, thrash, jazz,power metal, and generaly like to mix things, they defy classification. 2) This particular song is from their newest album that is quite a step away from their usual stuff as well, among others because while usualy Tuomas the keyboardist and main composer on band who writes 95% of their music as well the backing tracks to be recorded by symphonic orchestras like London metropolitan orchestra etc likes to combine band instumentation and the symphonic backing in this particular album disc one with the band songs has reduced symphonic orchestral parts comparatively to their usual music, and the symphonic orchestra does play an instrumental multipart piece on second disc of the album with some contribution by band's multi instumentalist Troy on some folk instruments and vocals and Floor on vocals

@@MettalMaffiaOfficial GLS is one of the live songs at Wacken 2013. GLS is not as heavy as Noise. Noise is from their latest album Human:Nature, which due to Covid they haven't been able to play live yet.

Ghost Love Score is nice and it's one of the most reacted to songs ever on youtube, but it's not a heavy song, it's meant to be a score and it showcases Floor's vocals more than anything else. If you like that kind of thing go for it, just keep that in mind.

Awesome reaction, I always enjoy when musicians react, they tend to have some good insights, and also having them insights tend to be even more blown away by what Nightwish are doing.
You'll get a lot of requests for Ghost love Score live at wacken, and yes it is an incredible performance, however I feel you may enjoy their heavier stuff more. Try Romanticide, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Devil and the Depp dark Ocean, all live at Wacken '13, Wembley '15 and Buenos Aires '18 respectively. Pan and Tribal are good looks at a slightly heavier side on their latest album although they haven't been performed live as yet, thanks Covid.
You said you are still learning when it comes to doing reactions. You guys are doing fine, the only advice I would ever give reactors is to be honest and be respectful. If you don't like a song, that is cool, just don't trash them and you'll keep getting loyal subs.

yea, not all of their songs are truly "symphonic"............its almost an incorrect labelling of them.......they have a bunch of heavy songs, folk/celtic songs, and a few slow melodic tunes....... tuomas (keyboards) is the main songwriter and composer........trust me, he is flat out awesome at what he does!! he changes things very often with the flow of the songs, time signatures, and use of some instruments that probably "shouldn't" be in a metal band........but......it works!! just ask Sonny:) looking forward to more!!

Nightwish was the brainchild Of the Keyboardist Tuomas and he composes and writes all the music and lyrics. Floor Jansen is the third lead vocalist and in my opinion the best one that fits perfectly to all the styles and emotion needed for their songs. Tarja the first lead singer had a great operatic voice but she was not as versatile in my opinion as Floor, who can do the operatic and everything else down to death Metal growls. Floor is also a Vocal coach as well. Best songs to follow this one would be Song of Myself from wacken 2013, Ghost River from Wacken 2013, Yours is an empty hope live from Wembley Arena, and Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley Arena. Since you mentioned you didn't expect such a heavy sound in symphonic metal, I'd suggest reacting to Epica. They combine the usual symphonic stuff with death metal elements such as blast beats, growling and heavy riffs/breakdowns. Much like Nightwish, they are best seen performing live. Try Consign to Oblivion live, or Unchain Utopia live, or Ascension or Universal Death Squad (no proper live video on these as far as I know, so the studio version).

Considering you really liked the breakdown you may enjoy Song of Myself Live from Wacken 2013.
I realize this album came out in March and there are no live performances of this album yet.. But, truly if you ever want the Nightwish experience, react to the official live performance videos only. Which is not a problem because there is probably a hundred of their songs on you tube in live official video. I suggest you start with Wacken 2013, a song like Romanticide.. Wacken 2013 is the tail end of their Imaginaerum world tour. The songs from Imaginaerum have a little bit of a fantasy/mystical vibe but the entire concert was excellent from the opener to the closer..

Nightwish takes their music in several different directions.. They have the long, epic, multipart full production style songs like "Ghost Love Score", "The poet and the Pendulum or The Greatest Show on Earth". Then they have several of the more classic thrash metal songs like "Romanticide" or "Song of Myself" or "Dark Chest of Wanders". and Just about everything in between like "Storytime" or "Ghost River".. The even have a kind of Celtic rock type of sound going on in songs like "E'lan" or "My Walden".. Different albums go into a more power metal vibe.. It's your choice, but the Nightwish Army loves it all.

Emppu (guitarist) is in the Mona Lisa room, but when his phone turns red, it's either because he has a different opinion or been banned for some reason and the rest beat him up.
Troy (other instruments) the king on his "throne". Where I dare say a lot of vids/pics are shot...
And Kai (drummer) making metal signs while taking his pic in front of the chaos.
The girl in the skimpy costume is about the perfect selfie, I guess. And I think is the same person getting all the work done.
It didn't hit me til the end that the baby had become an old man while plugged into the machine all his life. That was a kick in the guts. We're basically slaves to social media ("Tool of a tool", as the lyrics say).

Nightwish are one of the few bands that are actually better live rather than studio versions, so always do live when possible.
