    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't worry to much if you have only been playing for 3 days. Some of that is just hand strength, you seem like a very determined type, I bet you'll get it before the week is done. If it is just the E string try moving your finger up a little bit so the string doesn't fall right in the knuckle, that might help a little bit, too.

  • @felixkramer7473
    @felixkramer7473 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't think you should do this because it can lead to intonation problems. This is probably a minor problem on a soprano ukulele, but on larger instruments like a tenor uke you might hear a slight raise in pitch. No problem when you play alone but a big problem in a band or a studio situation.
    Also I don't know if it is good for the neck of the ukulele if you regularly put preasure like this on it (even though I might be wrong here!)
    Last point, this exercise does not train your thumb at all, which after all you should use when you play barre chords. It rather leads to a strange position with your right hand, as it cannot move freely anymore. (That't why your ukulele is shaking a lot in this video)
    I do not intent to rant around here :D just some thoughts on your exercise.

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would only raise the pitch if you bent the strings. A little extra support isn't going to do that. Tenor, flat top acoustic, the little extra support isn't mean to be a replacement but just help, and if you don't over do it it'll be fine.

    • @felixkramer7473
      @felixkramer7473 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does raise the pitch as you slightly (very slightly :D) bend your ukulele and because of this bend your strings. As I said, on soprano ukuleles and especially when you play alone you might not recognize this. But take for example if you want to record a song and you are having trouble to keep your ukulele in tune because you support your barres too strong it can be very annoying. Again, these are rather special situations, but once you are used to supporting your barres like this it is hard to let go if you need to. This is why I would not recommend doing this but rather practice your thumb.

      Is it just the third string? The string might be falling right into the crack in your skin where your bones come together and your fingers bend. Try moving the finger vertically so your entire nail is sticking up over the top, that might help.
