    Hi Really good to see all the changes that have been made. So few people around. Brought back memories of Broadgate in the 1960s and 70s. Such a lively place then. So good the Elephant still there. That is where we young folk used to meet at the weekend.

      I think there were not many people because it was New Year's Day and (surprisingly) not many shops open.

    Oh, thank you for your lovely gentle walk around the newly renovated Coventry city centre. I truly enjoyed watching it. So much so that I share it with my relatives in Germany and my families in Singapore. Looking forward more of your walks in the future!!!

    Thank you so much, our "walk" around the city was really great! You took us to all the places I would have wanted to see. The only problem for me is now my legs ache so much and I had to reach for my coat as it looked so cold 🙂. Please keep them coming, I enjoy our walks so much 👍

    Better than it did in 1988 when I started at Cov Poly, that's for sure.

    Is that supposed to be the new Coventry rail station car park or a whole new part of the station?

    • @FlaneurC21
      @FlaneurC21  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its both a car park and an additional part of the station. Will see when it is open, which should be soon.

    A city of ever increasing development no matter what kind of culture that defines it. Coventry City was always about innovation like many other in the UK since the 1950s, Triumph/Jaguar symbolized that revolutionary trend, yet never in a way that indicated radical transformation of its manufacturing industries that would later see abrupt annhilation of them and centralized wealth from it poured into what is now - an edging toward futuristic building infrastucture - I have this extract below that I belive to be a strong indication of local government wanting to turn Coventry into kind of copycat DUBAI where only the wealthiest will live and be a magnet for rich tourism. It is only an opinion not a fact.
    'Coventry University is an innovative group that aims to help drive the fusion of academia and industry through continuous professional development (CPD) courses, commercial research, IP commercialisation and knowledge exchange activities. This involves transferring research results and skills to businesses, enabling new products, services, and processes to be developed.' I can't recall the website that quoted this information yet make of it what you will, yet does this sound that it is inclusive of multi-class society decision or opinion?.

    I left Coventry in 1962 when it was probably at its peak. I recognise various buildings and of course the precinct area. I do not think that the city has been done any favours since I left. There used to be grass in Broadgate not soulless slabs. What a dreary, drab ,heartless place it looks. I will definitely not be returning.

    A soulless place with shoebox buildings. Just a student town know, all PhD's in useless disciplines. William Lyons and Alfred Herbert probably spinning in their graves!!

    Looks like a complete shithole of architectural nightmares which will be regretted in the next 10 years. A mish mash of old and new where the city doesn't want to move forward.
    The city is dead, there's nothing remotely interesting and most of the student we've been building to accommodate go to Birmingham or other cities via the station.
