The building management should pay Barbie for cleaning up this mess and for trash bags. If they had to pay a company to do it, it would cost them a ton of money. Paying her makes more sense from a financial, ethical and humanitarian standpoint. Won't hold my breath, though.

The key point here is humanitarianism. Anyone who makes negative comments to Barbie about recycling etc. clearly doesn't get it. Barbie, please stop apologizing for not recycling or for the music you play or for whatever viewers complain about. Really, what nerve! You are a wonderful person doing an important service for struggling individuals and families. Your karma is good and your vibration is high. You will be blessed all the days of your life.
I’ve had depression and PTSD for decades. But I cannot imagine being in such a dark place as to accept living like this. My heart goes out to this person. Anyone who shames her needs to be grateful they do not have an hour to live in her tormented mind. Our homes reflect our mental health. Barbie you are amazing to walk into this space and feel sympathy instead of running away.

My mom's house was like this, shes been mental and a druggie for decades. My Grandparents and I just pulled everything out and cleaned it up. Made her furious but it was needed.

These places have to be emptied and cleaned. They are cesspools of disease. I hope you and your grandparents took precautions and it’s WONDERFUL that you did this in spite of your mother’s anger. She doesn’t think clearly or properly and her “wants” need to be overridden for her sake and the sake of her neighbors.
This is beyond depression. This is a psychotic level of hoarding. If there are children here, DCFS needs to be called. I know that’s not a popular opinion, but the goal is to provide resources to support the parent(s) to keep the family together. They remove the children only as a last resort. Cleaning the home is only a first step.
When you clean squalor, you have amnesty from collecting recycling. A little mess, collect the recycling. Squalor=automatic amnesty. You are a Wonder Woman!

I can’t even comprehend how many years worth of rubbish that is. I’m beginning to think it isn’t only her garbage. I think she goes out and actually collects garbage. I’ve seen videos on that. The sheer amount is just mind blowing. Your poor back and knees. You are truly a superstar

It has been documented in Japan many times, there are many hoarders, men and women, who go out to the trash dump and collect trash and bring it home as their “collection“. I kid you not and there are many of them here. Lonely souls… living alone with no family.

I agree. Recycling is ideal in most situations. It is just not feasible when doing something on this scale. Cleaning this is in & of itself helping the environment.

This is insane. I don't mean that in an insulting way - I genuinely can't imagine ever getting there, and it terrifies me. I've been depressed, I have climbed out of that pit with my therapist, medication and some wonderful women in my life - but I still can't imagine what happened in this apartment. Thank you for helping this lady. It must be awful and depressing and terrifying to live in such a place. It's still absolutely terrifying and I hope this never happens to this lady again.
Unfortunately, it will until she and her immediate family members seek and continue mental health therapy.
I'm very surprised that the apartment complex is allowing her to continue to live there.

I am so surprised that neighbors didn't complain of smell, rodents, and roaches. This not only affects her but also others nearby. This is really sad 😮😮❤❤

Omg Barbie this looks exactly like my sons rental apartment. The people left a refrigerator full of food that was rotted because they also had electricity turned off before they moved. There were bugs and mice and poop everywhere. The sad thing is there was a 4 year old child living there too. There were toys left behind and many clothing and of course trash in every room . My son had to get a company to come and clean out. There were 4 dumpsters full of belongings and trash. They took clothing but nothing else and moved to another town. My son had to pay thousands of dollars to clean out company. The walls were not seen due to so much trash so they didn’t know condition of walls or floors until all cleaned out. The walls and floors are so damaged they need to gut out the whole apartment and put up new drywall and flooring.

i think, the cat is fine. she looks well fed and is not scared of strangers, her fur looks healthy and now she gets a clean environment too. most ill people love their pets way more than "normal" people and try to do their best for their pets.

You need one if those wire frames that holds the garbage bags open for you. It would drive me nuts trying to put handfulls of stuff into a bag as it falls and closes.

Barbie put some boots on that wishlist! Big chance to step on a sharp thing in unknown piles. When working on the ground, it’s ok to wear running shoes so your feet aren’t tired from the boots. But do not get on top without boots!

Agree. Interesting that it went this far. Anybody blow the whistle here? That bedroom window has no curtain or blind, can this trash pile against the window be seen by tenants in adjacent apartments, surely?
It's worse than a fire! Everything is ruined, but no insurance to replace things. They'll need everything new again. So very sad.

This poor woman is seriously ill. I hope she can find counselling to help her understand her condition. You are doing a great job. Nothing in this home is recyclable. It is too contaminated. The management should be very grateful that you are doing this for free. The whole apartment is in an appalling condition. It needs a complete renovation. Oh my gosh...this seems more complex than deep depression. This is a diagnosis in evolution. Serious concerns for dangerous conditions you might encounter: needles, etc. Please take every precaution and that includes your feet. That place and its entire contents seem completely contaminated. I am LOVING the additional voice overs you’re doing, the extra footage you’re including of the neighborhood/sidewalk, your hundreds of treks up and down multiple flights of stairs, the harrowing driving in NYC…all of this adds extra layers and interest to the (HUGE) task at hand. 😂😂😂 Recycling ♻️ makes me crazy 🤪 too. I had to buy the really big 30 gallon recycling bags just to keep my sanity (One for paper & one for everything else) & once it's full put it out to be picked up. I put what little garbage I make in the small shopping bags this way I keep the house smelling fresh & bug free because it is easy to grab a little bag that is full of kitchen scraps & toss it out on my way out of the house rather than a large trash bag. This apartment had your name literally all over it 🤗 Destiny 🤗 This was literally the most entertaining of your videos because we got to see your ballerina 🩰 talent as you balanced on all that trash 🤯 It was so sad to see a person not being able to enjoy any of the cool things you found because of this illness & the trash 😢

That's crazy. I can't imagine living next to these people. That's why apartment buildings have problems with bugs and rodents.
I feel.apartment owners should make ppl sign a paper saying you hoard or not keep your place up u have to move out and apartment ppl should do inspection once a month

Never ever would they recycle if they need to clean this household.
Some people really need to understand how much afford and time it already takes without separating the trash.

You HAVE to look after your health- all that shovelling was back breaking work. This has to be years and years of trash. I just don’t quite understand. I have severe depression and if I had to live in that I would be in a mental hospital. The landlord should definitely do something about these apartments. Repainting this apartment should have been 100% on the landlord. Shame on them for letting it get to this state. And there is LEAD in that old paint, guaranteed. So it requires a painter who specializes in lead remediation. The landlord could face fines if it's not done properly.
Its not the landlord that put this apartment in this condition. Tenants can keep landlords out so they don't see what state its in.
The walls and floor look substandard and the trash added to it.

I just can't imagine the dark place they must have lived in mentally to get to this condition. At least the management is cooperating and giving them a chance to recover and heal. My eyes tear up thinking a child and a pet have been subjected to so much pain. I pray this lady heals and can function after such a transformation. She deserves better. Before I watched part 1, all I could think was the oder had to be horrible for the other tenants. You are her guardian angel 😇. Wow, Barbie, what incredible work you have done. Do you agree with me, that such a mess is possible only with people with enough money? I lived a short time in Cuba, where most people have few money or as they used do say: not enough to live and too much to die. I never saw there messie homes neither in the street because they have not enough to throw away.

This was by far my favorite appartment cleaning you've done as normaly it's mostly regular trash but in this one there was so many (probably even too many 😅) things to look at other than regular boring trash. Lots of clothes, magazines and random stuff makes it entertaining to watch. And you've had more bags to bring down too 😇

Im so glad you're wearing a respirator... Its already a good idea to do so in these messy homes, but since they have a cat it can be even worse... Im glad you're able to provide help in their living situation and I hope they get the help they need to battle their depression.
I too tend to let my apartment get messy, but luckily I still manage and I go to therapy to get help. I can imagine that if your home looks like that, you get even more depressed. Even with my mess sometimes I get too depressed to clean. You're a gem!
This apartment doesn’t need paint. It needs new WALLS. The panels behind are the back of where the plaster goes…or wallpaper. It’s not meant to be the wall. The floor looks like subflooring, too.

You should look into a chute to place in the window to downstairs so you can remove the trash bags easier.
