I don't understand all the hate in the comments. It's his car and he did the work himself so why is it dumb? I get the comments about making molds but it's his show and he did it his way. Not a lot of people can say they built their own CF wide body kit for their car in their garage.
I appreciate it honestly when I built this I knew it would piss people off and this was my first time working with any composite so I definitely made mistakes but I’m definitely proud of it thanks for the kind words
@@eurokevin Some people just start to hate because they wish they can do it themselves but they can't. They don't even know where to start and in the end as long as you like the results of what you built yourself that is all that matters.
Some people don't understand why it's better to do it yourself rather than buy ready made parts or pay someone else to do it. It's the sense of accomplishment, the fact that it's one of a kind and that you did it! Plus the skills you learn along the way 👌 great work 👍👍
Professionals start somewhere. If everyone just bought their parts there would be no one to make them. The ones who say go buy it are consumers, They either have no ability no creativity or they are lazy and they know it so they have to beat down anybody who wants to do it themselves.
Damn, those are some really cool looking custom fender flares. I like the overall look with the oil sealed surface rust and minty green paint. Mint, brown and black really go well together. And that custom front bumper, so dope. I like how it has a "fisheye" effect at all times.
This is EXACTLY how people creatively figure out a different way, a better way a novel way..... a brilliant way at times.... to do something others are just mentally stuck only doing or buying because they aren't able to stop and come up with a different line of pursuit and FIND a different road.... Great job and my hats off to you and your future creative break-thru's!! Your effort and spirit are how some come up with some truly amazing things. Keep it up. Be you. Let others be them 😊
That is an incredible amount of hard work. That itself is a huge accomplishment. Only helps that it turned out sick AF! I love and hate the patina at the same time!! I agree with a lot of the comments. You should be making custom wide-body kit templates for a living
Your ride is SO COOL, man! I dig the grungy look. Wish the body lines of the CF were different. They look like they were a universal body panel... But it being what it is looks great, my dude! Bravo
Gonna agree. I don't mind keeping stuff original, but if you don't plan on selling, why stay boring and with the whole "mold" society wants you to be in? I got a 2005 MK1 Velociti, one of the first ones that came out without the round shape in the taillights, and boy ain't she good. Still original at the moment, but I'm planning on making her look good and give her some customized options too, and instead of spending money on buying a new expensive stock car, I can use that money to make her my own, which could even be better and beat the living daylights out of an original stock car. That's my preference, but to each their own I guess. I dunno bout you, but "stock fanatics" are just boring people who's working their arses off just to pay off debt for a "faster new model" instead of sticking with what they have and making it better. I dunno, I'd get my hands dirty on a project instead of wearing a suit to pay off debt 🤷♂️
So, let me understand this process: Foam on Shape foam Hard putty filler? Sand down More putty filler? Lay 1st fibre+resin (release compound needed here?) Remove from car Clean foam residue off the piece Paint a primer coat? Then finish with another layer of carbon fibre over that? Finishing Mounting What else I'm missing from these steps? Thank you in advance
Wow, a lot of negative comments. You did an amazing job Kevin and i seriously dought anyone of these naysayers could build a model car from a box. I hope your ignoring them.😁
Wear a mask when sanding bro, we all think it’s cool not to until our lungs take the hit.. take it from me, I learned the hard way 🥲 but beautiful build!
Nice I love them but if you would of just taken one more step you could of used them as plugs and made multiple kits, I thought that's what you were doing because that the route you took once you pulled them off and cleaned them up you just needed to stiffen the mold up and then seal it and you could of laid the carbon inside of the plug not on top and you would of kept those nice lines you created. Hey anyways it doesn't matter what you created is very nice I was just surprised because that's the way I thought you were going either way you did great and the panels came out amazing I am sure others will want to do the same as it looks so nice keep it up bro!
I've never seen anything like this before. I am not a car guy. I am in complete awe of this man's skills, and anyone else who does this kind of stuff. Bravo!
You're getting a lot of flack here but you've also gotten some decent advice on future composite work. There's constructive criticism and then there are unhelpful assholes. Ignore the haters, keep learning, keep on making the things that matter to you.

Good start for sure. I personally, would have made it just carbon, with all the effort you went through to make it appear carbon. Doesn't deserve the ignorant comments though. May not have been in your budget or something. Still does what you intended for it to do. 🤷♂️
Soon very soon I’m stockpiling parts right now but soon I’m doing a fuel cell new pedal box and all new brake lines sent my harness off to have it stripped down to a standalone harness and probably gonna 3d print side skirts

Looks amazing!! The only thing I would change personally and idk if this is just unfinished but I don’t like how the wheel arch is the same size if not smaller than the tires themselves, just me but I like to see a decent sized gap all the way around the tire
