My take on a now benchmark fragrance. Other reviews: • Dior Homme by Christia... Redolessence • Dior Homme Review! Mod... Fragrance Bros • Fragrance Review | Chr... Waha Sawas
This was one of my early designer purchases. When I bought it a few years ago, it was a unique orris leather fragrance with just a tinge of sweetness and thats what made it great. Since then I bought a second bottle early this year from a discount outlet and the scent has changed, if felt like they amped up the saccharine by a lot and there's a major lack of depth to the base notes. It felt more gourmand then leather to me. I gave the bottle away in the end as it smelt drastically different to me.
great review! i just got this one. Amazing scent. i smelled Intense, Parfum, cologne and Eau at one go but i liked this over those! i agree with you. i'll probably get DHI & DHP as well but this will remain my favourite.
Big fan myself! I think that lipstick note is exaggerated and has become a mantra in fragcom that excludes many people to try and enjoy this beauty. The first thing I thought when I tried this fragrance was YES! It's just such a pleasing and original scent blended to perfection. I think it has to settle on your skin for an hour or so to really shine, and you get this delightful, light scentcloud around you. I find less is more when it comes to number of sprays since it's borderline beast mode on me.
To me yes I totally get a lipstick smell out of the DH/DHI. But more than that I get a cardboard vibe. It’s not a bad way as I love the scents, but cardboard is the only way I can describe the opening . Don’t think I have ever heard anyone else say that though, so maybe it’s just me idk...
beefcurtainz69 are you describing unbleached cardboard like a packing box rather than something like a glossy package that a bottle would come in? Because sometimes i think that smells 'suede-y' to me. Perhaps we smell the same thing but associating to something else.
I wish I could enjoy this fragrance, it's a very special fragrance. The iris note makes me self conscious.... I hope in the future I can become the kind of person who can wear this frag.
Great review. Well explained. I don't have this but do have DHI (blind bought). At first I didn't like it but on a 2nd wearing during winter found it was really nice and the dry down is the best part (IMO). The wife really likes it as well.
Confession time. I have a brand new bottle still in plastic. I've had it a while and I've never been interested in opening it. Bad, right?! Maybe it is time...??
"Fine suede, dusted with cocoa and stained with lipstick." Can't get enough of this..
This is my favorite from this line & Dior eau, 2nd favorite, is so underrated imo. yes, it is all year scent, except high heat like you said--agreed.

The Scentinel totally unbleached brown (usually) carboard yes. Closest thing I can think of to describe it other than make-up.
This used to be a gem, i used it a lot , i purchased the new version to recall these memories but i don't reach it often..

Thanks for the review! Also prefer it, even though i have Intense and the others.

Fantastic review Pip
Franoir thank you.
I've heard dior homme work's far better on clothing , anyone find that's the case?
Not in my case
Fragrantica is wrong. there is cardamom in the 2011 version as well. it is on their note breakdown at dior.com
bart4543 thank you. I don't really pick it up too much in this anyway.
🙃
Scentbubblez is it a good emoji?
The Scentinel Of course it is! 🙂
Scentbubblez just wasnt sure what the upside down meant.
The Scentinel No worries. I was just being silly.
