    James’ dad was dying from Stage 4 kidney disease. He had been a prior kidney donor so only had one kidney. No one was a match and he didn’t have long to live. When this video came out a distant cousin came forward, was tested , and was a match and donated a kidney to James’s dad. He is doing well the last I heard. James and his dad are both military men and emotions were not always easy for them. James did a brilliant job on the song and video

    Apparently, this was the first time James had sung the song to his dad and the recording was done in one take (this one). James' recording company wanted him to use 'Auto-Tune' but he refused because he wanted this to be 100% real and a genuine final message to his dad, who'd only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease, and he desperately need to find a donor (which he eventually did, thank God). I heard that James donated all the proceeds from this video to the amazing UK Charity 'Help For Heroes' who do such incredible work with ex-servicemen and service women I don't know how he managed to hold himself together as well as he did, although there are still a few wobbly notes sung towards the end. Bless him.

    Sad so many commentors didn't like your reaction. I didn't cry the first time I heard it, either. But, just like you, I was captivated by the sincerity of the video, the simplicity that let the depth of feeling show through. Glad you watched all the way to the end - some reactors don't, and miss the final "Good job, son" pat. Yours is in my collection of top reactions to this song: your awe is as sincere and refreshing as James' rawness and depth of feeling. Kudos.

      I thought you did an amazing job as well. Not everyone reacts to the same situation the same way. The first time you listen to something you're kind of like an outsider, just trying not to miss anything. Then, awhile later (or after you heard it a few more times) you realize just how powerful the song is, and you may react totally different.
      I appreciated all the little nuances you picked up on in his voice, body language, how the choir helps take this song to a totally different place. A lot of people miss all of that because they are crying. I also appreciate that you watched all the way to the end and saw his dad pat him on the arm; most reactors stop as soon as the words end and miss that, and to me, that's a very powerful part of the video. I agree with Lynne; this is definitely one of my favorite reactions to this song. Keep up the great work. :)

    This reactor:: Classic dissociative disorder. More people have this disorder than people think.

    • @lynnedavidson4772
      @lynnedavidson4772 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably because you're classifying them from a distance, and don't have a real dissociative disorder yourself. A reactor with a dissociate disorder would not have been able to stay in such a moment; it manifests as a withdrawal from the feelings, or a reactive chaotic response to the assault of feelings.

  • @debtrethewey-tervree9928
    @debtrethewey-tervree9928 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This isn't a true reaction. It's more like a person who can't or won't show their true emotions to a song.....a song that is a very personal one that James Blunt made when he was going through a sad time. There was maybe one second that I thought you would start showing your emotions to what you were hearing.....but then you just started up with the laughing and clapping again and all the things a person who doesn't like showing emotions starts to do and that is just NOT an authentic reaction. I've watched well over 50 reaction videos to just this song in particular and only 3 of those no one cried or even teared up. But this is the only one that has such a bizarre reaction to it that makes zero sense.
    A true and authentic reaction video is pretty much the exact opposite of this reaction. You're supposed to watch the video fully with no pausing or interruptions of any kind. Listen to each lyric and just immerse yourself into it and then allow yourself to show your emotions to what you are listening to and what you are seeing in the video......which in this case it's all about losing someone and the sadness of that loss. Joking, laughing and even smiling makes no sense as a reaction to what this song is about. All I saw was a person who wasn't even really listening to what the singer was going through or talking about in the video. A person who is supposed to be doing reaction videos and yet doesn't really want to do them. I feel if you know you'll never be able to show any emotions at all on a reaction video or that you're uncomfortable doing so, then maybe you shouldn't be doing videos that require you to have an authentic reaction. Which is a shame because that video should've caused you to express some kind of an emotion and yet.....you showed us nothing but silly antics. Sorry if this is being harsh......but I see I'm not the only one leaving a comment of disappointment.
    (FYI: IF you feel the need to reply &/or send me a message PLEASE make peace with the fact that I won't read or even see it. I just don't like doing the whole back & forth debate thing & what I really just want to do is watch more YT videos & since mean spirited/nasty comments have effected me in the past I came to the conclusion that this is what's best for ME which is to not read any of them since there's really no way of discerning between a negative or a positive without actually reading them. So to keep my head space happy this is the best way for me to do that, plus adding this statement saves people from wasting their time responding back too. TY so much for understanding).✌💕
