Watercolor Tutorial / Painting flowers / Painting Magnolia

In this watercolor painting tutorial I share my process painting process for drawing and painting Magnolias and how to create interesting background using some creative watercolor techniques. Follow these steps and paint with me these beautiful painting.
Painting supplies:
- 100 cotton watercolor paper, Cold pressed, fine grain from Hahnemühle
- Round and mop brushes, I prefer synthetic brushes.
Waterolor paints:
- From Daniel Smith: Prussian blue & Ultramarine blue for the background and Rhodonite genuine for darker parts of the magnolia
- From Colors by Vita, Metallic watercolors
- From Winsor& Newton: Rose permanent for manolias

Your sketch is so beautiful. Are you using the flowers from the beginning of the video as a model for the painting or are you making up the shapes of the flowers as you go along? Your artwork is truely stunning, thank you for this video!

Thank you, 😊 I did not draw exactly as the reference but took inspiration from it and tried to simplify a bit. I usually have a couple of reference images in front of me when painting and pick pieces from them.
Also I did a very rough sketch of the composition in my sketchbook first so I had a rough idea of the composition before transferring to the watercolor paper.

What is your setup? What is your paper attached to?

It’s watercolor pad, glued on 4 sides. So when I’m done with the painting I remove the paper from pad with a pallet-knife.
