@@JFFM730 once he went solo he mostly kept the bass very simple and often concentrated more on keyboards than bass but his playing in THE BEATLES is absolute genius. of course then again THE BEATLES all switched instruments so effortlessly even JOHN and GEORGE sometimes came up with great bass lines. LENNON even basically downpicked 'helter skelter' all the way thru.
@@NoirL.A. ive only heard a few songs from pauls solo career so i cant really agree or disagree with that. but johns bass playing in helter skelter (if it is him) is great, its messy but thats a good thing because it suits the song so well
@@JFFM730 with that tune "messy" is exactly what they were shooting for. alot of PAUL's bass in his solo career was good but he kept it simple. THE BEATLES albums is where he really spread his wings as a bassist. but yes both JOHN and GEORGE played bass on various songs and actually did well with it it wasn't til' years later that i learned it wasn't PAUL on bass on every tune. 'skelter' was inspired by something PAUL read about a WHO song that was said to be the messiest and most terrible song they ever did and so he decided THE BEATLES would do the same. i'm a metalhead and i think THE BEATLES don't get enough credit fer their contributions to metal. 'skelter' is most certainly metal as is 'i want you' , 'hapiness is a warm gun' and 'paperback writer' is damn sure proto metal.
