I guess you should be careful with using such a huge amount of particle board. I think it can look really nice, but most people don‘t know that it contains poisonous chemicals which leach into the air of your home. And i believe that an extensive use (like in this home) can lead to health risks.
Lucy is definitely a fan of this architect as everything about the house seems fantastic, plants, jungle, dogs and all! Yes, it's a nice house but the choice of materials is not for everyone as mentioned by some here. The kitchen seems dark even during the day, so perhaps a skylight or a glass roof might help IMO.
View from outside this house looks FANTASTIC! Sand stone floor looks AMAZING! Huge windows all around look GREAT! The UNFINISHED OSB walls look ABSOLUTELY STUPID!!!
In deed ! One of my favourite details. I'm sure there's an explanation for it...but why would they design the step to not be aligned with the counter, as you walk in ? I'd hold the step down to align with the counter as you come in, in order not to step down and step up again, when entering directly to the living room side. It doesn't make much sense as it is. I love OSB , but it just didn't connect for me, here. The interiors feel so warm, and carefully detailed..and the OSB doesn't sit well. Either as a contrasting approach..or as a natural aligning with the rest. The flooring is exactly that _ a show stopper. Bloody hello, its gorgeous. Incredible details and love went into it, most definitely. And all the more significant knowing it was the owner that made it happen. The bathroom seems great too, and site for the home itself....well.. ;) Congrats to the owners/designers, and thank you for sharing . Cheers from Portugal
@@V4D2 I was thinking the same thing too. But maybe they wanted a sense of separation between the front door and the office/living room? Some people dont want to come in the front door and immediately they are in the living area. Or maybe its for architectural or personal reason.
To be honest, this wouldn’t too much effort for someone to genuinely build. Of using alternative materials but general layout is pretty straight forward. Land and services being the only challenge. Nice tour 👊🏼
I appreciate the use of raw natural finishes and utilizing SIPs as a component of the overall design aesthetics. I appreciate the greyhounds even more!
This is an absolutely devine small home in all respects. I can imagine the rich smell of wood, earth and the surrounding bushland. I agree the stone floor is a hands-down (or celebratory up) show stopper that's clearly been lovingly carved and laid out as a piece artwork itself by this home's Master. Just love every element - a personal favourite dream home for me. Thank you for sharing!
A little lime plaster and clay paint instead of the particle board and it would be perfect. I wonder if the kitchen stepdown continues through to the bathroom?
I love it! For me personally I would ad a hanging chair or hammock. When I lived I Mexico we never sat on the sofas, but we spent a lot of time on the hammocks.
Ur attitude the way u giggle and enjoy the sandstone and plants truly brought me joy the Taz tiger 🐯 that ran out sold me u kept me watching tho the house gorgeous as you have that going on as well
I love it but for me its lack of a living room, a comfortable sofa to sit down and feel totally relax..... even at outside, there want really designated area with comfortable seating to sit down.... the only area that we could sit comfortably probably in the bed? lol...
Lucy. Yet another natural gem! Part of the landscape and raw, yet warm and homely. Like You fascinated by small living. The future? Yes it is. Thank you, guys. Stay safe.
I see a lot of people are concerned about OSB chemicals but it really depends which type of OSB it is. I do agree this place has a lot of hard surfaces and the echo must be pretty bad. Cool look though. I would maybe add a skylight above the kitchen countertop to add natural light. Definitely a minimal approach to design and living that only suits a small amount of people but very cool regardless
You were in my mind. Definitely a skylight. I would do an actual divider tfor the bedroom that integrated a wardrobe/closet space all the way to the ceiling
Sorry, but here in the States, particle board is associated with cheap building. Commonly used in trailer construction (mobile homes), it's known for coming apart, warping and rotting when wet. The manufacturer printing on it is not my idea of glowing ambience. It's the sort of thing you'd use to throw together for a hunting camp shelter, but even hunting camps have an old sofa and a few lawn chairs. I can't imagine inviting people over to hang around the bar here and expecting them to stand the entire time. I've seen a similar small lay-out in a vid about a retired NZ couple using shipping containers, and it was far more finished and comfortable. This just looks dark and scratchy.
Even though I live on the opposite side of the world I've been familiar with Archier's work for a while now. Nice to see this house. I love the simpleness and smallness and floor plan. The choice of materials is too rough for my liking and there are too many plants inside the house as well. These factors make the house rather dark, especially for a building this small, a lighter ambience would have made it better as far as I'm concerned.
I'm in love ... This cabin speaks to me 😍 ... I mean ... It does have some small things that I would change (sofa in living area, window in kitchen and toilet), but overall as a concept ... beautiful. From raw materials used ... inside and outside, to simplicity of building method with SIPs, simplicity of used space and minimalistic approach ... but yet ... soo soo rich. One of the best and beautifull cabins I've seen on youtube ... by far. Cheers from Croatia
Wow, Factor! An Artist's dream home...The thing that impresses me is that you could put a huge leather lounge in the space and shelves if you chose to...fantastic!!... But with all the plants and earthy creativity you don't need to to have it still look amazing ...even some low profile reclaimed timber coffee table with some cool cushions on the floor...Absolutely love this one!!... Cheers G!
Very cool, but how long before the OSB stops outgassing? the color of the walls sort of closes the space inwards. Wouldn't the space be served better by lighter brighter walls that would bounce light off? The plants, the humans and the pets would feel so much better. The Flooring is phenomenal! The multipurpose kitchen island is brilliant! The Bathroom is so Zen and it's gorgeous! All the natural greenery looks great and is cleaning the air. The whole project, truly, so earthy and wonderful! - Susan J Mielke Designs, Former 'Green" Interior Designer, Minneapolis, MN
As one of my favorite builders says "small like a yacht, not like a shack." I'd take a well designed small home over a gaudy mansion any day of the week!
I love everything else but the internal walls. I live in the Caribbean so like timber and concrete is always better for us. It looks so easy to destroy the walls. But I love the plan of this home. A very nice simple feeling
I live in Acton! Massachusetts… Nice house, but I will never learn to like, much less love the chip-board used on the interior. To me, it looks cheap and unfinished. It also makes a dark, confining ceiling. It even looks like it has printing on it, I think that’s what it is, like it was meant to be covered. Apart from that, I DO like it!
Isn’t it the use of OSB is toxic in the long term? It is a type of particle board that had chemicals and resins as binder. For me, the design of the interior is good but not the materials.
Agreed! Everything about it is great except for the OSB.... And she talks about it being lush and rich, I don't think so!!! And as you said it's also off gassing chemicals!
I was just about to comment same…I too thought it was toxic. I thought it had to do with the processing of the wood | adhesive | treatment but not sure.

“it knew what it wanted to create”? Did the house build itself? Seriously though, I really love this house. Simple, functional and stunning on the outside. The OSB…maybe a bit overdone? Perhaps but everything else is on point. The step down around the bench is a masterstroke in design. Great work HFG.
I just got so excited in my description ;) the house just seemed to exist as part of its environment. It was peaceful, natural and not out of place which is always such a testament to the designer to create a structure so at one with its surroundings. Agree, that step down in the kitchen - game changer!
Yes. The floor is stand out ! However I'm not a fan of the Oriented strand board. Not a finished wall look for me. I WOULD have painted it. And, too much of it for a smaller space. How is it insulating? Bathroom is nice.
The only thing I can foresee if I had that long counter is that it would be a drop off point for lots of “stuff”. I have that problem now with a counter. 😁
I love the wndows and plants and the wild entry courtyard. The floor in the main area is fantastic. The warm color of the OSB is nice, but I don't see how one could clean it or prevent dirt and dust from collecting. And the dark bathroom - cool idea, how can you tell when it should be cleaned? It rather creeps me out and would make me OCD about germs. The wood on the shower floor is nice. This seems like a weekend place or an Air BnB, because there isn't a feeling that people live here. Art and books and some sign of human life.... I'd hire the architect, however. Great eye and sense of light.
📚 Check Out Lucy's New Book! bit.ly/3QItBhH
I love everything about it except the particle board
definitely a statement material and not for everyone, easy to paint over for a textured wall!
Never seen a particle board install that didn't scream storage shed. I don't care if painted or clear
I guess you should be careful with using such a huge amount of particle board. I think it can look really nice, but most people don‘t know that it contains poisonous chemicals which leach into the air of your home. And i believe that an extensive use (like in this home) can lead to health risks.
Finish plywood would’ve been a better choice . But I applaud his risky move

@@V4D2 yo creo que la principal razón es mantener el nivel del comedor para poder utilizarlo por los dos lados. Muy buen detalle para mi tambien

Wonderful ideas. Love the simplicity. My back wall would be curvy adobe and old guy like me needs a comfy chair…somewhere
Yes needs a sofa!
wonderful

Agree and agree, those doggos/tassie tigers were a highlight

Osb does not have a rich wood smell.
Osb mostly smells like industrial glue
💯plants & scenery look amazing! Too bad there aren't any lounging spots to take in the views besides the bed.
Thank you so much, I found what I have been looking for. Marvelous.
A little lime plaster and clay paint instead of the particle board and it would be perfect.

I love it! For me personally I would ad a hanging chair or hammock. When I lived I Mexico we never sat on the sofas, but we spent a lot of time on the hammocks.
Although there is a huge class front, it looks like a cave. The OSB boards give the impression of a unfinished construction site.

The homeowner was chatting about perhaps bringing in a small sofa space, but for now he designed as per his and his partner's needs.
I agree, the desk, kitchen top could have been smaller allowing for a seating area. Also an outside deck to enjoy the beautiful outdoors
I don't understand why they didn't put a covered porch out the side of the house!
Lucy. Yet another natural gem! Part of the landscape and raw, yet warm and homely. Like You fascinated by small living. The future? Yes it is. Thank you, guys. Stay safe.
So obsessed... I left saying "I want one!"
Beautiful. I love the simplicity, functionality and design. Amazing!
When are they going to finish the walls and ceiling?
Tasmania keeps popping up on my radar, the last two months or so. Anyway, nice house and location.
Tassie is unreal!
Beautiful but no lounge, I can’t live without my stressless chair there.
Sandstone floor, easy to maintain?

Yes, out there in the States. Rest of the world does things different.
Yeah, looks so cheap and unfinished
Thank goodness for diverse tastes. We’d be stuck with bland designs.
I really like the natural looking stone stairs. Just so well designed over all; also great to hear the philosophy behind the structure.
That stone is a total hero!

Nice house but I do not like the particle board walls. The plain one piece sheets of wood are a bit more expensive but better.
Wonderful! It has everything you need and is perfectly integrated into the environment.
Couldn't agree more!
How is this home avoiding off gassing from the particle board? I hear it is harmful formaldehyde.
- Agree with you. They need to cover that ASAP. It's ugly and harmful in many ways. If it was at least pine wood, it would be better.
i think OSB doesn’t contain formaldehyde but don’t quote me on thag

Paint that OSB. White with a touch of green on the main area. Darker green for mood in the bedroom.
Oh my God this is just a stunning lovely tiny home 😍😍😍
The beautiful dogs make it special!
That’s all you need. Looks relaxing. Well done!
The best unfinished house I ever seen
It’s cool, but I definitely would’ve incorporated rooflights
Looks great & clever design, thanks for the walk thru…👍

Beautiful surroundings. Australia is so wild. Awesome

Agreed! Everything about it is great except for the OSB.... And she talks about it being lush and rich, I don't think so!!! And as you said it's also off gassing chemicals!
That’s the reason for the indoor jungle !
Yes, normally not for use in indoor spaces
I was just about to comment same…I too thought it was toxic. I thought it had to do with the processing of the wood | adhesive | treatment but not sure.
The only thing I liked about this home was the two lovely dogs being allowed on the bed to snooze.
Love this house so much! Does anyone know where to buy those big windows and doors like in the kitchen?
Something about simple shapes, so simple yet so gorgeous. Love this! ❤️
Agree! Simple but executed beautifully
Beautiful and attainable house. Also warning to everyone of the fake accounts promoting a bitcoin whatsapp scam in the comments
So annoying those accounts.
I reported them
Beautiful home ... what is the estimated costs of building? Thanks!
I love the smell of VOCs from OSB. Great to live in!
Love this place...this feels so calm and home.
And the formaldehyde smell is awesome...
Not in Aussie supplied products...

Love the sandstone floor
Reminds me of my school seniors common room. Minimalist and functional.
damn, that's a cool seniors common room!
Love the house, it just hasn't got any storage (for vacuum cleaners and stuff) can't seem to find any lighting either, wonder how it's lid
There's a few small lighting details throughout, but nothing on during the day with all that natural light coming through
Simple and Beautiful !
I really like it !!!
simple for the win!
Absolutely inspiring, I’m interested if there’s any overhead lights?
Love the floor. Dogies are also adorable
Beautiful arq.
In contact with nature!
Where does the smoke and grease go when your cooking?
i love it
so beautiful home, love to visit
I'd put a Reading Lamp with a thin floor to Ceiling Book Case next to a Chaise Lounge Chair in the mix

This is perfection! But I must admit with all of Australia’s poisonous insects and spiders, think I’d have anxiety with those dark bathroom tiles 🤪😂
@Olaf Zuberbuehler wha??? haha. It's honestly not that bad at all.
Молодец , мы тоже строим подобное многое берём с твоих проектов , спасибо за твой позитивчик))))!
Wonderfully smart layout
Love it.
But my cats would shred those panels. Lol.
Lv the simplication.
Sandstone flooring is my new fav flooring.
I love those floors!
Lovely way to live a life

thank you!
Not a tiny home but still a great home.
Cool spot
What an entrance! 💙
I know right?! Epic!
Just love this.
Absolutely lovely!!!
Thank you! 😊
it's a dream, this house, the textures, the materials, the floor plan, it would be great to know the dimensions
Raw looking osb, yuk. Hope they sealed it , to prevent off- gasing. Osb painted black is nice.
This is a super cozy space. Thanks for sharing!
OSB is not cozy!!! Its ugly!!
Yes. The floor is stand out ! However I'm not a fan of the Oriented strand board. Not a finished wall look for me. I WOULD have painted it. And, too much of it for a smaller space. How is it insulating?
Bathroom is nice.
i love it. everything i wanted in my home.
At first glance I thought the tree emoji was the puking one lol
Where can I buy an accent like this? I may consider the house as well but the accent is a must!
Haha
I want to know what’s it size? I love this design. It impressed me
The only thing I can foresee if I had that long counter is that it would be a drop off point for lots of “stuff”. I have that problem now with a counter. 😁

Beautiful, bit the ceilings are too low
Where’s The couch
Looks cozy!!! with your friends :) How can you not having closet though? I did not even see a refrigerator. brand new home ready to be furnished?
AWESOME home!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
thanks for watching!
K.I.S.S. ...
... Keep It Super Simple !!!
Beautiful home 😍
너무좋다~~~~~~🤗🤗🤗 WOW. . . .
It looks like a see without beeing seen concept. Interesting and personal.
The visible computer cables are not a plus.
one question, is it ok, to use OSB on interior inner walls, is it a little bit toxic?
