To replace the whole hot shoe with a new one, do you just remove the 4 screws, pull it off, pull the ribbon cable out, and then connect the new one and put all the screws back as shown here? I have to replace the whole hot shoe and I can’t find anything anywhere on how to do it. This video has been the closest I found but you don’t do a complete replacement.
Mine came off completely. The estimate to repair is $750. On something that is obviously an issue with Sony cameras. I've also had an 85mm 1.4 GM and a 16-35mm 2.8 GM go bad and just stop working. No dropping or damage whatsoever. Not impressed with Sony right now.
Do you know where you can get another of those metal pieces that you take off in the first step? mine became bent and nothing will fit in the hot shoe now
Something i bought a long time ago , when i had a nokia and it was advardised as a toolkit to open the phone . But i think u can use anny screw driver that has a small star head.
from what i found on ally express only the hot shoe is diferent the flash is the same , so u just have to buy a hot shoe that is compatible 4 your sistem i well make a video on haou to change the hot shoe on a v1 in the future
I sospose is the same idea , All sony's have the screws protected by a tin piece of metal so u have to remove that first. I don't own one yet so i don't know!
@@kr-byt that's crazy. Im surprised no one else has pointed this out' 2k dollar camera & only one to remove the cold hotshoe to slide a mic in it is to USE tools & do surgery to it 😂🤣😂
I just fixed mine without the glue. All 4 screws were somewhat loose. I just tightened them up. Thank you!!!

My Sony A7IV hotshoe connectors have been damaged. My local camera shop said this would quite costly work:-(
To replace it , i think u need to open the camera , so is best to do it in a certified shop
I think my connectors are damaged because it’s not letting my Strobes high speed sync, what did you do to fix it?
@@chevysmith3542 tink on some alchool to clean the contacts, or replace the connectors on the strobe

I had to have mine fixed 3 fucking times in a year and a half. I think Sony have to make it sturdier in upcoming models

Hey, I am having this same issue right now. Got quoted about the same price. Did you send it back to a Sony? If so, how did it go?
