That's a myth. Some older electric buses use diesel occasionally for heat, but definitely not in the Proterras. Everything power related comes from the battery.
Philadelphia transit just took 18 of these buses off the road because they developed cracks in the plastic body. USA engineered. Canadian 2 brands have a better record.
Wow I never knew TTC Had these even though I commute almost every day haha! (Well to be fair I dont use the TTC to commute lol except for the short Subway ride from Union) but that is so cool!
Thanks for watching! So far these have only been seen on maybe three early morning runs on the 6 Bay, and only 4 of 25 have entered service at this point.
Now, that electric buses are possible, will they eventually get rid of those stupid 19th century streetcars??? Wires all over the place and high cost of maintaining the infrastructure!!!
Ah yes, there’s barely visible wires, and it’s a bit expensive, so we should get rid of a faster, more reliable and higher capacity mode of transport that our city has been perfecting for years.
That was a nice tour of Toronto!
It really is!
a bit loud for an electric bus

I wished NFTA had these

It looks super new!
I heard that it uses diesel during the winter for the heater LOL.... they can’t make a fully zero emission bus during the winter?

@@sovb Obviously you get rid of them when they reach their end of life. Not when they're still good. That would definitely be a waste of money.
@@bmw803 This was a year ago but I thought you meant the whole system should be removed, not the older streetcars lol. Hey well you got your wish
