Would be interested in a more specific look at the Palouse.

@@AmericanResiliency great thanks! It's one of the places I'm thinking of moving to so it's always good to hear another take on the outlook. I guess it will come down to what problems I want to be involved in solving.
Fun (irrelevant) fact, on the eastern edge of the Palouse are two land grant universities right across the border from each other. Must be an interesting concentration of research. You can also take a river cruise from there to the ocean.

I really appreciate the work you are doing. I've been wondering what my home here in the PNW Will look like in 30 years. Thank you for providing such a well research answer. I'm curious about the species of tree you mentioned. Douglas fir plantations provide a huge part of the local economy and the lumber for building houses around the country. This past summer I noticed some scorching and dead branches on local Doug fir and also Western red cedar trees. Can you offer insight as to which species of timber may need to be replaced? And which species they may need to be replaced with?

These people: www.nnrg.org/climateadaptation/ are doing great work on that topic. Short answer, some selective breeding is occurring of local species, some species are being moved north from California. But there's a detailed species shift/adaptation discussion in the presentation below that is so hardcore, it's worth checking out:

Wishing you the best- thanks for the excuse to geek out
