Treasure Island was a military base!😊 It was one of the 1st artificial made islands. The 400 acre artificial island was built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1936-37 on the shoals of neighboring Yerba Buena Island. Constructed of mud dredged from the Bay, it may have been named for the gold its soil might contain.
