Hey Walt! I just love the name "Urban Portable" ! I live in an apartment building in Rio, and it would be a huge stretch to place an antenna and cable it to the apartment. But the building has a rooftop terrace, and whenever I want to operate, I head to the rooftop and set up an portable operation with a telescopic mast and some wire atennas. I always wanted some way to describe it, and "urban portable" is perfect!
What a great first contact, Walt! I watched yours and Tim's videos on the Rybakov and built one yesterday. I only have eight 5 meter radials installed so far, but boy is it a performer! Right up there with my OCFD and my 119' end fed. I'm in Idaho, so no benefit of salt water or beaches, but it works well! Thank so much to you and to Tim for inspiring us to get out there and build. -N7BWB
After OH8STN featured the N9SAB OCF he became really busy and antennas were selling faster than normal as he mentioned in a live stream he was on this week. I bought an OCF 100w version.
@@LevyCarneiro OCF is multi banded and the dipole was not. Wanted to try one N9SAB antennas figured after watching OH8STN video this was a good choice. I don’t have any waterproof or rugged antennas or a portable OCF. I own a PackTenna linked dipole which is wonderful but it’s not waterproof or heavy duty but it’s an absolute charm of an antenna.
Hi Mike, I now own 5 of his antennas lol. I’ve got two others of his with me, a G5RV and an EFHW. Looking forward to using them. Yes the trip is off to a great start!
Glad to see you made a safe trip and are back on the air. I’ve heard Tim makes some great antennas and your experience is a testament to that.. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.. k0klb
I know this video is already in the can, but Tim's antennas are getting so much love now, they aren't on ebay at the moment! Well the OCF dipoles aren't as of 0600 CST 19 FEB (time stamp for the keyboard warriors looking LATER, like "I see stock"). looking forward to the premier!
@COASTAL WAVES & WIRES yessir, Julian did a video a few days ago on the use of this antenna for emcomm and 💥 they disappeared! 😆 after this video, GOODLUCK! HI HI
I am a big fan of your channel. Love the way you just keep it real. I live in Midlothian outside Richmond. Maybe I get an opportunity to run into you sometime down the rod. BTW, I do appreciate any and all links you can provide with you videos. (KY4VD - soon to be W4PLC)
Hi Walt hope to catch you one evening when i get to play on the radio. Did a audio test with the g90 and my 7300 on the dx commander live stream over 2 weeks, and i have to say the g90 sounds alot more punchy, its a cracking little rig looking forward to more vids this trip.
Hi Walt ...i have a question about your Xiegu g90... The radio got FM modulation? I am planing to visit my home country Turkey at July and lot FM QSO traffic there...i loke your videos and watching always when you post....thank you for educating us with your experience 73 KC1OWM
Hi Walter, I follow your videos, thank you very much for them! I recently received a new G90, and yesterday was my first TX. I noticed that the other part received low my audio, The power is OK, but it seems that the audio was low or low in frecuency. Did you have this problem?
I did not but I’m sure it’s just a setting in the radio you need to adjust. There are some great G90 videos here on TH-cam that explain the settings. Once you get that radio dialed in you are going to love it. 73, Walt
I don't even have it set up correctly using it as an inverted L but not far off the ground and completely killed it yesterday on 10 and 15. Worked Russia, France, Spain, Japan, and South America. I just ordered more from him lol.

@@COASTALWAVESWIRES Update: Worked my first EA from Idaho this morning, 5x7 both ways. Rybakov rocks!
Very Cool Walt. Thanks for sharing. Going to check on those antennas for my son as he travels overseas this summer.
Thanks Reed!
Awesome video.
Can't wait to get you in the log.
Been hunting you for a while, yet no luck. Maybe this trip will be the one. Happy DXing!!!!!
Yes hopefully this trip will be the one!
Very cool to be able to travel to other countries and play radio

I had no idea, someone just told me that and I went and took a look at Julian's video. He's spot on about Tim's antennas.
Andrew, what would you say is the benefit of the OCF model over the dipole one? Thanks!

Woow => how is that even possible ?
It’s pure science and the magic of this wonderful hobby called Ham Radio. Thanks for watching!
The strain relief looks like it's broken on your adjustable power adapter. 👍. Thanks for the video Walt.
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff as usual Walt. A gray line live stream would be cool... though it might happen too early in the day for me to be off work yet.

This is an odd question, is the Apple phone/tablet better than Windows/Android?
Android is better for ham radio apps, SDR, etc. I’ve just been using Apple for a long time
