I hope you don't mind...a word of advise.....? When you do the small flowers, don't tap the chain down when it is laid. Because.... after you pull, the white paint will swallow your flowers up.
Oh, you mean when I take the stick and tap it down? My chain was sticking and stiff and in some areas it wasn't even laying flat on the canvas so, I would just press it down to flatten the chain from being curled up. I also like those flowers very thin, small and petite. But, thank you very much for the reminder to never do that when not needed. Thank you for watching!
Thanks so much! I have tried many ways to avoid the cells from popping up. LOL I didn't use floetrol one time for the flowers and I still got cells. I think consistency of your paint is what causes the cells so maybe throw off your consistency a little which has worked for me a couple times. Like have your white real thin and the flower thicker paint. But really it has been a struggle. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. I'm still trying to figure it out myself LOL have a great day, and thank you for watching!
Sandra Cole Thank you Sandra. There's so much easier to maneuver. When I thought of it I didn't think it was going to work but it did. I think it makes the flowers look nicer than the string. Have fun doing it.
no this was not metallic black. I believe it was artist Loft flow. Maybe it's shimmers because it's really good dark black & it's wet. And sometimes the light on the camera will make them shine.
Thank you for posting this..this was the exact thing in my mind, had no idea how to execute without spending $200 for something close but not as good as this..and you've done it! I know what my weekend project will be.. thank you thank you!
Thank you It really is very easy. I think you will find that out. And it is a lot of fun also. If you have any questions ask me. I'll be happy to help.
Hola, soy de Argentina.Maravilloso trabajo.Mi pregunta es que tipo de pintura utilizas y como haces despues para lavar las cadenitas.Gracias. te felicito!
Hi Sherri 👋. I like the chain pull a lot. I’m going in an try it right now. Question? What are the lil handles on your canvas that your holding on to canvas with? Never seen them before. Thank you. I be back to watch more. I sure like watching you. So thanks💐🌹💐
You don’t have to put those sticks down The only reason I put those sticks is because my hands had arthritis and canvas keeps slipping out of my hand Just coat, your canvas with your paint and let it drip off real good leaving some paint on your canvas not a lot. A thin coat or as soon as you pull the string, it will get buried and covered up. So thin Thank you
Beautiful like always. Wanted rto say thank you for the beautiful painting I won. Was really sick and didn't have the strength to even send you an email. Haven't even been allowed to paint. Hoping to get back in the driver's seat soon.
Maribel Rivera it is important that you be careful from the paint fumes. So just rest and still take it easy. I’m so sorry you were so sick. I am don’t you worry about anything. Just stay well now. Don’t rush into things too quickly. Thank you♥️
Esperanza Perez Martin No I don't speak Spanish or can I read it I only know a little Spanish because I'm married to a Spanish man. But I don't understand and TH-cam does not come with a translator. I wish it did. Well thank you so much.
Pervin Daboo Thank you! This is craft smart paint from Michaels craft store. It's acrylic paint. It's just plain black mixed with a little water. Not too thin and not too thick. And I think the one chain that I used was called a rope chain and the other one was a box chain. You can also use a chain from a ceiling fan. They work good also.
Catherine Hall It takes about two days to dry. But you have to wait at least two weeks for it to cure before you gloss it. It Has to come to a complete hardening.
Cachito Medina You're welcome! But I'm not sure exactly what you said. I cannot read Spanish. TH-cam does not have a translator. I wish it did. Thank you so much for watching!
carpenter1274 Lol,, here's another wacko cracked me up big time. I like your sense of humor. Thanks for the compliment about these flowers but I'll have to admit I do feel like a wacko sometimes LOL
Hi Deborah No I only add the pouring medium into the base coat so it helps with the flow and leveling. I only add water to the flower paint. I do that because floetrol is what I use and it always gives me cells in my flowers. So I just use the paint and water for the flowers to help cut down on the cells.
Magical!!! There seems to be a lot of very careful prep before the fun part, but the results are fabulous. I’ve never done any kind of ‘pour’ art but seeing this makes it even more tempting!
Robin Murray Yes, but it's really not that hard. You just have to have the floetrol or you can use glue all and then you need your paint and water. The technique is actually very easy. As long as you do not have your canvas thick and tilt off a lot of the paint it should turn out the same. Give it a try I think you will enjoy it. It's a lot of fun.
Mix ideas and creations It never ever hurts to try. We only learn from trying and then we do better the next time. I will definitely subscribe to your Channel.
What brand of floetrol do you use? This is some thing I want to try. It looks so pretty. I'm unsure about the floetrol and how to Use it. Can you help me?
Carolyn Phillips Hi Carolyn The brand floetrol I get is called flood. You have to get the latex floetrol, the water base if you're using acrylic paint. You can actually use any medium. There are several different types. Some even just use Elmer's all glue. I get my floetrol at Lowe's or Home Depot or Ace Hardware. When I mix my paint I use 2 parts floetrol, 1 part paint and usually 1 part water. That is the recipe I use to do most of my pour painting. Sometimes it will be a little different depending upon the paint I'm using, some may be a little thicker then others. I actually have a video showing how I mix my paint. I think you will really really enjoy doing the chain pull. It is easy and fun. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. There is many tutorials on TH-cam also. I just this morning actually posted another chain pull you might enjoy.
Elva Troutman I suppose it might work if you have the flower pot laying on its side. But, it could start dripping and running. But I suppose if you only use a little bit of paint and your flower pot is dry it might work. I'm really not sure. I have never tried it on a dry surface only on a wet canvas. But I would give it a try if I were you. Where there's a will there's a way.
Sherri's Life. I thank you so much for responding. I did try it and it's not as good as a totally flat surface however it did create a nice design on my flower pot will plan to seal it and use it. Thank you so much for sharing.

This painting is just gorgeous, with just black and white. I Live "Simple Elegance" .. I'll be watching the second part. I would Definitely hang that painting in a very nice room...
Billie Lemere Thanks so much Billie. You should give it a try someday. It's actually very easy as long as your canvas is not thick you should have the same progress. Thanks for all the nice compliments.
Zeenat Zeenat Thank you I use the white on the canvas so it will show up the black flowers. You can use black on the canvas or any color you choose and any color flowers you want.
Barbara Nadeau You can pretty much use any necklace chain you have. I especially like the rope necklace chains. Or you can also use a ceiling fan chain. Those work really nice also. Thanks for watching, and have a great day!

Sarosh Es I asked the floetrol to the white paint on the canvas only because it helps with the flow and we'll keep it from cracking while drying. But I only add just a little water to the black paint for the flowers. So about 1 part paint and not quite 1 part water. Not too thick and not too thin.
Louise Parenti Thank you so much. Yes, I just posted a new video yesterday however I wasn't really happy with the colors I picked and it was a lot different. I'm not real good about picking colors that match well together but I'm learning.
Ragini Deshpande That is floetrol, paint and a little water mixed together. I use that recipe and all my pour paintings. You have to have paint on the bottom of your canvas before you pull your flowers. It cannot be a dry canvas.
Sheila Klatt Well, I hope I can explain it for you. Just water and paint can actually cause cells. It depends upon the consistency of each paint mixed together. Each paint has different density and when mixed together they react with cells. Now the floetrol assist with cells also if you have your consistency of the paint the same. Many people will add a few drops of silicone or some kind of oil to help create cells. I do not use any silicone or Oils because it is hard to clean the oil off your canvas. It will also leave craters in your painting and crusty areas. So if you want to gloss your painting you have to clean your canvas very well. That is very hard because the oil seems to keep surfacing with time. To clean them you have to sprinkle powder on them and wipe them down a whole bunch of times and that takes off the color on your painting quite a bit. So if you get each color consistency the exact same that will cause cells with just floetrol or even just paint and water. Consistency is the key for cells. I used 2 parts floetrol, 1 part paint and 1 part water. Give or take on the water depending upon the paint you are using. If it is thick paint then I will use a little more water. So every color I mix I use the same exact amount and most of the time I will develop some cells. You want your paint mixed to a warm honey consistency. But like I said I don't use the silicone because it is just too much trouble cleaning my canvases to gloss. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Sometimes it's hard to explain. But I measure exactly the same amount for each color. So for the flowers, I have to throw off my consistency so that it will prevent cells.
I hope you don't mind...a word of advise.....? When you do the small flowers, don't tap the chain down when it is laid. Because.... after you pull, the white paint will swallow your flowers up.

But I suppose if you only use a little bit of paint and your flower pot is dry it might work. I'm really not sure. I have never tried it on a dry surface only on a wet canvas. You can pretty much use any necklace chain you have. I especially like the rope necklace chains. Or you can also use a ceiling fan chain. Those work really nice also. Thanks for watching, and have a great day!
I really like it ... chains hmmm

Yes, chains work pretty good. I like the chain better than I do string. I've also heard of people using those ceiling fan chains. Anyway, thanks for watching!

This is cool!! What kind of paint do I use??😊
I don't know, what kind of paint do you use? LOL just kidding,, I know what you mean LOL I use artist Loft most.
I am totally a beginner and want to give it a try i just want to know fit you put something in black paint too or is it just simple acrylic paint?
Sarosh Es
I asked the floetrol to the white paint on the canvas only because it helps with the flow and we'll keep it from cracking while drying. But I only add just a little water to the black paint for the flowers. So about 1 part paint and not quite 1 part water. Not too thick and not too thin.
Thanks a lot! I am totally inspired! Can’t wait to try it :)
Sarosh Es
Have fun! If you have anymore questions let me know.
Wow, this is amazing. Never seen this done before. Do you ever do this with other colors? Black & white is beautiful.
