This series could not have ended in a better way. It was interesting to hear how Kim went from initially disliking traditional folk music to being a folk artist himself. I loved hearing him sing. I also appreciated the fact that he is a great knitter and did not hesitate to show his projects on-the-go to us. A lovely person with a lovely voice. Someone who has found his or her niche in life is a gift to have around, and you both found a gem to bring to the series. Another lovely moment was when Arne gave Kim something he knew he would cherish just as much. That was so kind of Arne. Thank you again for this wonderful series. We got to travel and learn so many interesting aspects of craftsmanship in Setesdal through the memorable people and the gorgeous area. Thank you SO much. 🥰
Arne, that was the kindest thing I have ever seen. Dolly would be so proud of you. It is exactly what Dolly would have done! Love to you all and thank you for all you do for all of us.
What a beautiful tribute to Norwegian culture through this tour of Setesdal. Thank you Arne and Carlos, and to all the talented people who shared their knowledge and experience with us.💞
The words of English translated song were so beautiful and poignant. What a wonderful interview with a really special person. I have loved this series so much - such a rich tradition you have shared with us - and I would love to hear the English songs on an album! Thank you Arne and Carlos, very lovely series! Xxxxx
Thanks so much for your feedback, Kate. We have loved recording this series so much, and are really sad it’s over. But ending with Kim, we think we ended on a really high - and very very beautiful note ❤️❤️
One of the most moving episodes, here. Arne - your generosity is so warming: to give something someone wants AND something so loved by oneself is the gift of a lifetime. It was so gracefully done, so lovely. And isn’t it fun to share these common interests with others? I hope you two get to meet #DollyParton sometime; I hope she sees these videos and, when travel opens up, all of you are in the same place at the same time. Thank you, all three. Bravo.
Thank you for 10 great Norwegian crafts vlogs Arne you are one of a kind in kindness to Kim giving him a little Dolly memorabilia the delight & wonderment was so lovely to see Carlos you have worked so hard translating huge big thank you & massive virtual HUG to you both You have given joy especially in my little craft world 💙💙💕🥰
These Norwegian Craft series are wonderful and this episode was especially delightful. Kim's singing is beautiful and it was such a lovely afternoon conversation in a pretty garden.
What a wonderful way to complete this beautiful series. And Arne, I would have guessed you were a kind man but that was truly beautiful. Thank you for filling me with a warm glow to take with me the rest of the day.
Such a lovely episode. As a Norwegian it’s so satisfying to be reminded of different parts of our culture that I kind of know, but not always is conscious about. It’s like you put a common thing up in a frame, and suddenly it transforms from common to special ❣️ A PS to Arne because I noticed how he inserted the pink record back into it’s cover: I once learned from a friend that worked in a record shop back in the vinyl days, that you should always insert the record in the paper sleeve sideways into the cover. That way you’re sure the record won’t fall out by accident if you pick the record up the wrong way because the opening is covered. If that made sense.
Thank you so much for giving your time and talents to make this wonderful video series about Setesdal. You have saved the best for last. I loved every episode but this one was so so wonderful. Thank you. Made me cry, Arne, when you gave your friend the Dolly souvenir. That is such a kind, sweet thing to do. Love you guys!
wow. remarkable episode. i was saving it for a quiet morning. i have gone down the rabbit hole of folk music. when he was singing i heard bits of Irish Gaelic as well as alot of Scottish Gaelic story telling melodies. wow. wow. but i also heard a bit of Gregorian Chant. made me think back centuries when people memorized prayers in song because they did not read. then i was thinking of old American folk songs of mountain peoples- usually Swedish or Scottish heritage-- very much the heartland of DOLLY!!!! my head is spinning with the connections to the poetry of life and the past that are stitched together into a fabric of history that still gives back today. i will be floating all day. thank you for this series. i love this kind of history and craft talk. thanks a million!!! if you have time check out the music from the show Outlander first season-- lots of scottish story songs- very moving.
What an interesting person he is. I love that he is considering recording the poems in English. When he sang the first poem in English, I was struck with how similar it is to the a cappella folk songs of Appalachia mountain area of America. Of course, we have many nationalities of people who settled in the mountains who brought their ways to America. Dolly Parton is from Appalachia. I could listen to Kim sing all day. Good music to sew along with. Thank you again for this series. Much love to you. Gail K.
This was a perfect finale to the Setesdal historical and cultural series so lovingly presented over the last weeks by Arne and Carlos. It was a pleasure visiting with Kim André Rysstad and hearing his beautiful music and poetry. Thank you Arne and Carlos, for enriching our lives in such an inspiring way.
This series has just been so amazing. Informative, history-filled and a travelogue all in one. Arne and Carlos have outdone themselves. You and your team should be so very proud of yourselves! Kim has a beautiful voice. It did remind me of the Irish ballads we hear. So cool to hear Norway's folk music and learn the interesting background. I feel so appreciative of having been exposed to such high quality material. A hearty "Thank You"!
Kim has such a soothing and beautiful voice! He seems like such a friendly and kind person. But, Arne, you were so very generous and thoughtful sharing your gift with Kim. Loved this episode so much!
This episode was so beautiful it made me cry. I loved every minute, every second. The music was pure, piercing the heart and Arne, gifting the Dolly item was just as pure. All of your episodes have been wonderful but this was church.
I'm constantly in awe of Norwegians command of spoken English. Thank you for taking the time and effort to learn our language. I so wish we were as fluent in a second language, any second language.
Absolutely fabulous episode.Arne you brought a lump to my throat with your kindness. If only the world have more beautiful souls in such as you three gorgeous men.Happy knitting 🧶🧶🌺
Dear Arne & Carlos: i have so enjoyed your Setesdal series. It is a tremendous achievement.. so very well done.. and the translating was truly a labor of love. I so appreciate that you stuck with it... Well done! i learned so much, and tell my friend of norwegian heritage all about what I have learned; she would never watch a knitting video, and it has been fun to share with her... keep up the amazing work, I am a fan from the San Francisco Bay Area
What a beautiful way to end the series. The talent of all these wonderful people is amazing. Kim is a beautiful person and has an outstanding voice and personality. We would be honored to host him is he ever wants to perform in Maine, USA. You are all very kind and generous folks
What a wonderful guest Kim was. Three lovely, talented men. I started crying when Kim started singing - so moving. Very generous of Arne to give away part of his precious gift. I need to start be braver with my knitting after seeing all the great projects in this episode. Thank you 😊
What a beautiful series . Kim is an amazing singer. Thank you for sharing your culture. Your generosity is very much appreciated. The kindness in sharing your Dolly gift , Arne, was a very Dolly thing to do. Carlos , I very much appreciate your translation work you did in the series. It is so nice to hear the language and to understand what was said was delightful . Many blessings 💫🙏🏼❣️
Thank you . That was fantastic. I loved Kim's voice whether he was singing in the Setesdal dialect of English. Arne that was very generous. Stay safe stay well stay blessed
That was a beautiful finale to the series. And we have become new fans of Kim. We loved the way his voice calls back to the ancient melodies. We are looking forward to following his career and his music releases. And as for you guys- so well done! Carlos did such a great job keeping it all on track and with the fabulous translations. We know so much more about Norway and the traditions. This series has been very inspiring. Arne- you really are an angel- that was such a amazing gift and we all know how much you love Dolly so it makes it that much more touching. We really hope one day Dolly calls you up and you get to meet her!
I loved this final episode of your Setesdal series. During my visit to Setesdal with my husband, an Irish folk singer we were part of an evening of kveding The singers went on from one to the other almost seamlessly and although there was a language problem the humour and emotion of the verses came through and we very much understood “ drikk ei drikk og ta en dram” They said the Scots were there once. We were with Arnfinn Staurheim a folksinger “verdens berühmt I Bø in Telemark. Another place you should put on your list. I also thought of Valdres so many tradition rich places you could have life’s work. Norway has been an influence in my life in so many ways and I love the folk culture so much. It shows how ordinary folk can achieve so much. My thanks to you both. Marion
My smile muscles will be sore for a week! This episode was pure delight. Kim's beautiful voice, his spirit, his warmth...this comfortable welcoming format sitting in your garden chatting...I am charmed and Enchanted. In fact, I would like to offer a suggestion that you consider something similar to this last segment of the Sedestal series as a future guest format. And once again, thank you more than words can say for blessing us with this story of the art of Sedestal.
What a lovely way to finish this series. I agree with Arne that the music has a Gallic feel. It is beautiful, as is his knitting. What a talent. I will miss this wonderful trip to Setesdal! ❤️ from 🇨🇦 CAW-NAW-DAW!!!!!
This one combines my favorite things, music, poetry, knitting, and nature. The drone footage at the end with the singing was so beautiful 💕 -- and the Beetle!
This episode was like the cherry on top! I love that someone is keeping these old traditions alive so they will never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing. I love all of your sweaters! ❤😘
What a lovely podcast, a very special guest indeed! Carlos & Arne you saved the best for the last! Wow oh wow, I am so sorry to see the end of these special podcasts!
It’s funny you mention generations of families doing crafts. I picked up spinning this last year and went back through my family tree to discover my great great grandmother’s last name is Flax. It was a fun surprise to find out we had linen makers in my family.
Just subscribe to Spotify to enjoy listening to Kim. I enjoy listening in his native language. As with Irish music the original tones raise me up and outside myself.
What a beautiful voice! Such a gift. I’m happy to report I was able to score three of Kim’s CDs on Amazon. Although I don’t understand Norwegian, I love the sound of it so I will enjoy every listening moment. I listen to Skald, too, and just love the traditional music. Thank you for this fascinating episode; a perfect way to wrap up the Setesdal series.❤️
Thank you for sharing such wonderful episodes. I loved learning Norwegian history and needlework. So amazing. I have really enjoyed this. Arne and Carlos are amazing people, talented but also heartwarming. Kim Rysstad has a beautiful voice.
I am finally getting to see this. I am so enjoying this session with Kim. What a nice conversation among the three of you to introduce us to this art form. His voice is wonderful. Thank you.
I have fallen in love with Kim, thank you so much for introducing him to us! Arne, you are the best! The fact that you would give Kim something so precious shows what a great person you are. As always I'm sending my love to you both.
This is the best segment of the series. Loved hearing Kim sing & show his knitting. Arne, you're a most generous human to share your lovely gift. It was so touching. Loved this series and sad to see it end.
When I worked for US Customs a plane arrived from Canada. One passenger was Dolly Parton. She came to my counter and we had a very nice chat. She is so nice and sweet. The highlight of my career!
Loved it. One of the reasons I enjoy your episodes is because YOU TWO enjoy them. You two bring honesty and enthusiasm for everything you do and I always feel as though I am sitting right there with you!
Arne, how nice that was, to share your Dolly Parton sparkles with Kim! And, Arne and Carlos both, I love it that you've shared this lovely folk music with us - it's totally new to me, and it's fantastic! Kim, you have a fine voice - I'm going to Spotify right now!
That was the sweetest and most generous moment when Arne gave Kim his present. Every time I watched an episode in this series I would think that it was my favourite episode to date, and this one was no exception. I enjoyed every single minute of your interview with Kim. Thank you!
What a beautiful voice Kim has, the stanzas are a reminder of Appalachian folklore. Arne, it was so kind of you to share your gift with Kim. Dolly would be so proud, and you made me smile. 😊
A truly grand finale to a most exciting series. Kim’s voice is just beautiful to listen to. Thank you Arne and Carlos for this invaluable trip to Setesdal and taking us along with you.
What an amazing video!! Such gracious gentlemen, all three of you. Oh my goodness, Kim has an amazing voice. Thankyou so much, all of you, Eric and Anna included. Thankyou for all that you do to entertain and teach us, but also all that you do to preserve traditional ways in your country. What a wonderful blessing.
Kim's voice gives me goosebumps! And the knitting talents around that table in the beautiful garden amazes me. Are all Norwegians such talented knitters? Arne's generosity was so heartwarming. Thank you Arne and Carlos for all you share with the world.
I love the green on green. - I just read the comments. 😢 What a glorious portrait of a culture that still lives by carrying its history forward! I just loved it.
Thanks for all your great videos especially the Setesdal series. Folk crafts and crafters after my own heart. Especially this episode with Kim. You know that book that his relative (Great Uncle) wrote that he read a poem from? Well, that one really hit me and put me on a quest to find that little book of "Norwegian poems in english translation by Gunnstein (Gus) Rystad". I checked everywhere for it Ebay, Amazon.., I spent all day googling the heck out of it and...I FOUND IT!!! Hooray. A rare book store in Seattle Washington. They had ONE copy. So I bought it. It should arrive by post tomorrow and, I can't wait. Don't think for one second that your videos don't make an impact on the world because - THEY DO. I'm an avid viewer and I'm so grateful to the both of your for all your hard work and effort to share your world of beauty and design and humor with all of us. Keep em' coming boys. Sending you Big Love from Hollywood California.
Kim has a beautiful voice and seems so kind ~ thank you Arne & Carlos for sharing Kim with your viewers and for sharing your Dolly Pardon birthday gift with him ~ that’s what Folly would have done ~ you’re the best.
WONDERFUL EPISODE!!!!! So special to meet and be with Kim! His voice is amazing and so are his knitting skills! Thank you for devoting an entire episode to interviewing him! Arne, Dolly would be so proud of you!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so sad this series is ending. I've enjoyed these episodes so much and feel privileged to share a piece of Arne's world. Arne what a kind thing to do to share your precious Dolly items with Kim, seems you are as kindhearted as Dolly ! have a wonderful week...
What a way to end! Beautiful voice, the melodies can be so haunting! Loved it so much! Thank you for bringing us this series and sharing with us the people and traditions of Setesdal. Thank you also to Kim for sharing his beautiful voice and talent with us. 👏🏻👏🏻 I love how you all love Dolly! She is our national treasure for sure. ❤️❤️
I just want to give a "thumbs up" to your production crew. The drone photography was beautiful. I was sad to see your vacation end. It was also our vacation. Thank you.
This was just a beautiful episode in so many ways . Hearing Kim sing really wrapped around my heart. I grew up with the early tradition of country music and folk music and his voice and poems just touched this part of my history.
Arne and Carlos, thank you so much. I have zero Norwegian heritage but I cried at the end of this series. I was so touched by it. Kim's song at the end went right to my heart. Arne's generosity was also so touching. I hope you know how many lives you both touch. 💙
What a fantastic episode to end your Setesdal series on. So interesting. What a fascinating conversation. Thank you for this series, I hadn’t appreciated how ingrained in your culture the folk costumes and all the crafts that are linked to them are.
This has to be one of the sweetest episodes to date. You are all so adorable. I love the sweaters too, absolutely stunning. And I am quite certain you are all just as sweet as Dolly Parton. I hope you all get to meet her one day, especially Arne and Kim - who by the way has a beautiful voice. I think it would be great if Dolly and Kim could sing together!
Hello Arne, Carlos and Kim. This for me was the most enjoyable video in you Setasdal series. Kim is a natural singer and a lovely knitter too. I love how everything he does is family related. Thank you all for a smashing video. 😊 xxx
Fabulous!!!! Everything about it. Thanks for the sharing the journey. I will sit now and knit while listening to Dolly Parton. My big thanks to the folk singer! Big hugs to all of you!
Thank you for watching Mary!

Thank you, all three. Bravo.
We hope so too!
Thank you for 10 great Norwegian crafts vlogs

Heartfelt thanks to you all. The world is often a crazy place, and y'all have created a beautiful safe haven for us!
These Norwegian Craft series are wonderful and this episode was especially delightful. Kim's singing is beautiful and it was such a lovely afternoon conversation in a pretty garden.
👍🏻
Dolly would be so happy with two fans having her dress decorations.
It was gracious of Arne to share. Loved this episode.
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a marvelous spirit Kim has!!!
Thank you, you lovely folks! That was delightful.
Yay!
What a wonderful way to complete this beautiful series. And Arne, I would have guessed you were a kind man but that was truly beautiful. Thank you for filling me with a warm glow to take with me the rest of the day.
Enjoy your day!
Outstanding!!!
Dolly Parton is one of the great poets of our time.
True!
Such a lovely episode. As a Norwegian it’s so satisfying to be reminded of different parts of our culture that I kind of know, but not always is conscious about. It’s like you put a common thing up in a frame, and suddenly it transforms from common to special ❣️
A PS to Arne because I noticed how he inserted the pink record back into it’s cover: I once learned from a friend that worked in a record shop back in the vinyl days, that you should always insert the record in the paper sleeve sideways into the cover. That way you’re sure the record won’t fall out by accident if you pick the record up the wrong way because the opening is covered. If that made sense.
❤️👍🏻
Kim is wonderful, another Norwegian national treasure!
Beautiful singing, thank you for sharing. Such kindness, Arne, showing your wonderful generosity, you are a treasure.
What a great episode. From Norwegian folk song, poetry and knitting to pink vinyl Dolly Paton LPs. The music was so atmospheric.
😍👍🏻

Yes, the melody is similar to the British Isle ballads that came to our mountains.
We will have to look them up
i immediately thought of irish celtic melodies
How generous of Arne to share his present with Kim! Lovely interview.
😍
When Kim began to sing, I had shivers down my spine. Thank you so much for having him on!
Thank you for watching!
This was a perfect finale to the Setesdal historical and cultural series so lovingly presented over the last weeks by Arne and Carlos. I loved seeing the look of pure happiness on Arne's face when he was showing Kim his Dolly Parton record collection
Also, although not used often, the noun "stave" in English Prosody means a verse or stanza of a poem or song. I think it must be the same as "stev" :)
Absolutely fabulous episode.Arne you brought a lump to my throat with your kindness. If only the world have more beautiful souls in such as you three gorgeous men.Happy knitting 🧶🧶🌺
Happy knitting Elaine!
@@ARNECARLOS thank you 😊

This is the best segment of the series. Loved hearing Kim sing & show his knitting. Arne, you're a most generous human to share your lovely gift. It was so touching. Loved this series and sad to see it end.
All good things must come to an end!
When I worked for US Customs a plane arrived from Canada. One passenger was Dolly Parton. She came to my counter and we had a very nice chat. She is so nice and sweet. The highlight of my career!
Wow, that must have been an experience
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I absolutely loved learning and 'visiting' Setesdal through your videos.
Loved it. One of the reasons I enjoy your episodes is because YOU TWO enjoy them. You two bring honesty and enthusiasm for everything you do and I always feel as though I am sitting right there with you!
I’m a bit late for this segment. So enjoyable! I have thoroughly loved all these videos. I now consider myself an honorary Norwegian! Love his music.
Arne, how nice that was, to share your Dolly Parton sparkles with Kim! And, Arne and Carlos both, I love it that you've shared this lovely folk music with us - it's totally new to me, and it's fantastic! Kim, you have a fine voice - I'm going to Spotify right now!
Such a great episode. So very entertaining and interesting. Thank you so much. Dolly rules!!!
Thank you!
Have loved this series about Setesdal, and this one with Kim especially moving, tusen takk
Oh my! That is simply AMAZING Laura!!!
Kim has a beautiful voice and seems so kind ~ thank you Arne & Carlos for sharing Kim with your viewers and for sharing your Dolly Pardon birthday gift with him ~ that’s what Folly would have done ~ you’re the best.
Thank you for watching Sandra!
WONDERFUL EPISODE!!!!!
So special to meet and be with Kim! His voice is amazing and so are his knitting skills! Thank you for devoting an entire episode to interviewing him! Arne, Dolly would be so proud of you!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lovely guest, wonderful series. Well done.
Wonderful! Love Arne's sweater! The small stripe patterns sing to me!
Thank you.
Thank you so much, we will pass it on!

What a beautiful final episode. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this series. I can only imagine the work it took! ☺️
This was just a beautiful episode in so many ways . Hearing Kim sing really wrapped around my heart. I grew up with the early tradition of country music and folk music and his voice and poems just touched this part of my history.
👍🏻
I really enjoyed episode 10. I learned so much about Norwegian traditions.
Arne and Carlos, thank you so much. I have zero Norwegian heritage but I cried at the end of this series. I was so touched by it. Kim's song at the end went right to my heart. Arne's generosity was also so touching. I hope you know how many lives you both touch. 💙
Thanks for your lovely comment ❤️🙏❤️
Such a lovely episode, thanx!!
You are welcome!
A wonderful finale to your series! Thanks to all of your guests for their generosity.
This was just the BEST.
Thank you!
😊 xxx
You are welcome Mary!
This might be my very favorite episode, ever! Thank you
Fabulous!!!! Everything about it. Thanks for the sharing the journey. I will sit now and knit while listening to Dolly Parton. My big thanks to the folk singer! Big hugs to all of you!
