Hi Amanda I thought that being in my sixties it was probably too late to start something that appeared complicated . In fact I have fallen in love with quilting and it is people like yourself who have shown me how simple it can be and fun to follow an idea then adapt to something completely different. I now have all the tools for paper piecing and adding Applique to my blocks and will be starting that as soon as I finish my quilt styled Beauty and the Beast through the attic window. I have been asked to show this in a quilt show nearby at the beginning of September which as I only started in April this year I feel very pleased about. Thank you for your tutorials. I have found them easy to follow as well as making sure you have fun whilst doing your project. Regards Colin
My favorite way to do my quilts. No fuss......just lots of color and fun. Thanks for your videos. I love all of them.
Beautiful video Thank you for sharing this with us. Blessings to you and your family ❤️
Hello Amanda, thanks so much for your teaching and sharing and for making it so easy to make a log cabin. I'm going to try it. Thanks again.
Very cute and refreshing! You make quilting happy and free, thanks Amanda! I love quilting too - it IS something to get excited about.
I just love what you do! I have made 3. scrap quilts all by hand,
Love watching you create!!
Hahahaha! The last minute of this video really made me laugh. Thank you for the giggle. It's brightened up my day, especially to know that I am not the only person that waffles on sometimes. That wasn't meant as an insult, it's refreshing to see people including their bloopers in the video. Have a great day Amanda, mine is off to a great start as you made me laugh. X
+sharon anderson Tehe!! No worries! I'm so glad I was able to brighten your day! xx
I love your relaxed, non-fussy approach to quilting! I am a beginner and you have given me the confidence to just launch in and give it a whirl. And you have the most amazing eye for colour and putting patterns together, I am truly impressed!
Thank you so much! Relaxed and non-fussy is spot on! Just be chill and take your time with learning and you'll enjoy the experience so much more! :)
love your video, you are fun to watch, give easy instructions, just loved it, can't wait to try. Would love to see a quilt put together with these scrappy log cabin blocks, I need more visuals ha! Love how easily you put colors together and the WORK! Eek! I need help on that, color is my biggest challenge. Look forward to seeing lots more from you. 💜💜💜
I'm a complete newbie to quilting. Needed some guidance on how to prepare & use scraps from my 30+ year old stash. I very much enjoyed your clear instructions. And u made me smile watching your bloopers since that is how I feel about my much less than perfect attempts at piecing so far. Will def give log cabin blocks a try and remember what u said about just relaxing and enjoying the process. Don't need any more to stress about! Thanks!
Amanda I love making scrappy quilts and right now I am trying to make a Jacob's Ladder using your tutorial. You are such in inspiration. Keep up the good work.
Your energy and passion is so refreshingly positive. You cheered up my evening and gave me some inspiration as well! Thank you!
Julia Thompson Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I'm glad I've been able to pass on some inspiration to you! :)
Thank you This is exactly what I needed! Encouraging words and simple sewing !
I like the voice over rather than the subtitles, but I did love this tutorial and you've definitely inspired me to use this method to use up my scraps! Thanks! Your videos are so fun and your personality is so sweet!
Thank you for your feedback! I've been so curious to know which method was more suited for these tutorials! I'll keep this mind for the future!!
I'm so glad I've inspired you to get digging into your scraps! Scrappy quilts are the best to make.
Loved this video. you are such an easy person to listen to ( nice and lighthearted, no blabbering for ages before you get started) Have just subscribed as i need all the help i can get, being a novice!!
Thank you!! I hope some of the videos/tutorials I have planned to do soon will help you out a bit more too! :)
I thought you was crazy (all these mismatched scraps) and I was crazy for going with it but I truly love "our" end result. So happy to clear out my scraps I didn't have the heart to throw out but was unnecessarily accumulating! Looking forward to more of your inspiration

Very cool. I love this technique. I have tons of scraps begging to be used up. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Sara Tallman This is a favourite of mine too! I find that it's absolutely perfect to get all of those scraps used up (and the end result isn't too bad either!).
I'm glad you enjoyed watching! :)
This is such a good way to use my scraps . Think I will try this today and make them to finish st 10 inch . Thank you

Love the videos ..and your little extras at the end always make me laugh :D
Would you do a tutorial on a self binding baby quilt? I watch videos but they always seem to confuse me at the mitred corner part and you always explain so well..
cmfnjaf07 Thanks very much! I'm so glad you enjoy watching!

You're adorable. Thanks...that looks like fun!
Hello! I just found your channel today and subscribed! Thank you for showing me how much fun I should be having with quilting! I can't wait to see more! I'm from Alabama in the states. Where are you from? I hope you have a great week!
Love
when you're done making the blocks you can square them all to the same size
Could you do a Spin Me Around quilt block?
I love patchwork but ohh my gosh it is time consuming.
What is the name of the starch you use?
hi. if the blocks are randomly put together and of various dimensions how does one join them together to form a large quilt ? do I simply add rows and columns on ? does it matter if my 1st piece is a square or rectangle?
Yes, I would add on rows/columns until each of the blocks begin to fit together. You may have to jiggle, turn and swap blocks around until you have them all fitting nicely together as you begin to achieve the quilt size you're planning for. For a starting block, I would try and aim for a basic square shape so that you can start shaping the rest of the blocks around it.
Hope this helps! :)
Did you make the quilt behind you? If so would you do a tutorial on it? Thanks!
Shirley Drury Yes! I sure did!
I made it using a foundation paper-piecing block I designed a year a go or so.
Thanks for the suggestion - I've added it to the list of tutorials I'm planning for next year! :)
Can you just keep going until it's the size of the blanket you want or do you have to do it block by block and then sew them together until it's the size you want?
Yes, you can keep adding/sewing on one strip after the another to achieve the size of quilt top you want. And you can also do it block by block too. There are no definitive rules - do what is easiest, quickest or simplest for you! :)
Are you zigzagging or straight stitching
I'm a beginner at quilting. What size block is good to stop at? How do I know when it's big/small enough to make a blanket?
With this block you can make it as big or as small as you want! There are no rules!
To help, I'd start by making four blocks that measure approx 20" square (or 50cm square), lay them out and then decide whether if it is big enough for what you want to make. If not, keep making more blocks until you get a quilt top that's the size you're after. :)
Music is much to loud
Turn the music down!! And please use closed captioning. Could not understand a word you said!
Hi Amanda, nice tutorial. In future please leave off the music! makes it very hard for anyone with even a mild hearing loss to understand you.
Такой длинный ролик, а полезной информации на 1 минуту. Девушка приятная, но все рожицы и ужимки разве что её маме и бойфренду милы. В общем, ролик ни о чём. Зря подписалась.
I love your modern take on quilts and the colours you use.
