- Many mysteries surround outlaw Billy the Kid's death, and we attempted to reenact the full story (including the controversial Texas part) so you can decide for what happened for yourself...
Did he die in New Mexico after being shot by Pat Garrett in 1881? Or did he escape to Hico, TX where he lived under the name Brushy Bill until his death?

I love living in Hico, all the history in the town makes it so much more western like. Walking down main street is so fun, gun shops, the WiseMan House, Church, and all sorts of beautiful boutiques and stores make it feel so homey.
the kid was on full display to all through the night and into the next day. he was viewed by more than 20 people who knew him and said yes thats him including his wench. why did some say "you shot the wrong man" nobody really knows if they said that at all. also back then unless you knew the kid few had any idea what he looked like so there may have been some disbelief because he did not look as they had him pictured in their minds. but he was not "buried in a hurry" so nobody could see him. also no reports of so called friend that suddenly came up missing. the evidence is overwhelming that Brushy simply was trying to get the inheritance of the land after relative croaked. he then mysteriously becomes billy the kid AFTER he had claimed to be Jesse James. he had "kept it a secret" even to his wife but MYSTERIOUSLY then people line up to "sign affidavits" THAT WE KNEW IT THE WHOLE PAST 5 DECADES. the hillbillies in hico simply are cashing in on old brushys crap he dreamed up. all the townsfolk are good people but only going by heresay from like minded townfolk.
Brushy bill was old fool that could convince the lawyer but when he got an audience with the governor who knew all the details of billy asked a few questions which he could not answer and upon being exposed? "sorry am having a heart attack must go rest"
remember that at the time there were DOZENS of still living billy the kids. brushy burned all his papers once the lawyer got into it not to "protect wife" but because they showed he was a liar and his childhood pictures are not only in the wrong place but he did not look a thing like the kid.
also how did billys mother immigrant from ireland "suddenly appear instantaneously "down in texas? with not one detail matching? so all historians are wrong and instead we replace them with that old yarn telling fool?
and "I want that pardon" thats because it made him sound more believable. Lawyer (nobody else) drives him around "and he knew things 20 miles before we got there" WELL HE HAD LIVED IN THE DAMN AREA for decades complete with modern cars. he and everyone knew about billys hijinks being part of the culture of the area. If a couple people were in the car "Hey Brushy this is where Festus was shot do you remember did you ride off south or north?" he would have said yep I went north over there through the cut" then they tell him "sorry brushy nobody got shot here we wanted to see what you said now GET OUT and walk back!!
your story was just as inaccurate as the video played
Not impossible to believe since Billy and Pat were friends.
Hmmmm....I like the way you think.
They were not close friends as many people believe. The fact is that in those days many people knew everybody in the town due to gambling and saloons etc. I think Brushy is a liar.
I do believe it, Pat Garret could've g ed loed Billy escape. Also Sherrif Brady was crooked as can be too.
They were friends for awhile at least and had some close association. There is a photograph of the two of them with a couple other guys.
Nobody killed Billy the kid
Now I want to watch Young Guns 2 again
YES!!!
Truth.
This ain't your gang dave.
Who in their right mind would admit to being an outlaw
Perhaps someone that wants to clear the conscience before they die because they lived with a lot guilt
I thought Billy contacted the lawyer?
After research, it seems the lawyer contacted Billy.
@@TheDaytripper Morrison was told by Hines AKA Jesse Evans that Brushy was Billy the Kid.
@@attilathehun0 who worked for Murphy
@@grifce The real Jesse Evans did worked for Dolan/Murphy. He was also part of the posse that killed Tunstall yet he allegedly was still friends with BTK.
I live in hico
Pat also killed JFK - just what I heard.
not sure they had starbucks back in the day lol shootting a guy holding a starbucks cup lol
Why do people post such asinine comments you just make self look un intelligent
Garrett killed Billy, the end.
Funny re-enactment!!!! Different from the way I heard but pretty close. Anyhow I love your video and believe Brushy was Billy!!!!!! Thanks!!!!
Is this drunken history?
Brisket history?
He didn't kill the sheriff
I don't think that I'm convinced that Brushy Bill Roberts was Billy The Kid, just too many flaws in his story. The family Bible gave his year of birth as 1879 so he was 2 years old when Billy the Kid was killed. Also Brushy Bill Roberts was illiterate and the real Billy the Kid wrote letters to Governor Lew Wallace while he was in jail, and those letters still exist today. Also Brushy Bill Roberts supposedly couldn't speak Spanish which Billy the Kid could very well. But on the other hand Lincoln County wouldn't let people try to find Billy's grave in Fort Sumnter and use it to compare DNA to Brushy Bill. I think and this is just my opinion that if he did survive I think that Billy would have went to Mexico and stayed there. But seems to me that a 21 year old like him would have had a hard time staying out of trouble. There's no record of him anywhere until Brushy Bill Roberts shows up.
My dad use to pick up brushy bill Roberts in 1945 to go vote for my grandfather. My dad was 13 at the time. My dad told me brushy bill was a old man. He told my dad lots of stories how he was billy the kid. Of course at 13 it's easy to be impressed with stories. Me personally I'm not sure what to believe. My grandfather's sister did not believe he was billy the kid but her husband did. I do lean more believing he was not the real deal.
@@byronjordan6882 yeah me 2. Although when I first heard about him, I done alot of reading and watched documentary because I kinda was hoping that it was true, just the idea that one of the Wild West era's most famous outlaws escaped and lived to be an old man was very interesting. But his story just doesn't add up I'm afraid. There's a channel here on TH-cam called Gale Cooper she goes in depth into the real Billy the Kid and Brushy Bill Roberts also. I don't remember the exact words that she used but she kinda hints around that Brushy Bill Roberts maybe had some kinda of mental health issues and in his mind he was Billy The Kid.
@@plymouthduster225 the possibility of mental issues have crossed my mind. But like my dad and aunt said. A lot of people in hico thought he was a crazy old man.
@@byronjordan6882 yeah I had spoken with a guy that lived in Hico on Facebook on a Billy The Kid group page and he said that the guy was really nuts was how he put it. Always telling stories but the stories seem to change alot. Like for example he claimed to work for "Hanging Judge" Issiac Parker as a Deputy Marshall in Fort Smith Arkansas. He also claimed at one time to been on a posse that was tracking the Dalton gang through Indian Territory now Oklahoma. And also claimed to have been part of the posse with the Three Guardsmen( Bill Tillman, Heck Thomas and Chris Madsen) that tracked down The Doolin Gang. I think that he got way too exact rated with his stories.
actually brushy bill did speak Spanish
🤣🤣🤣
An old man told me, Billy lived rest of his life in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua Mexico, maybe, could be
It was Oswald.
