My 2 yr old son was recently playing with his toy tools and I asked what he was building. His reply? "Doin' work, chateau!" 🤣
His other favorite vocabulary? Van, hedgehog and croissant. I am doing something right.... haha

I'm glad that Herbert is at the vets. They'll take good care of him, once he's rehydrated he'll be better able to survive. Everything's moving fast isn't it? Nati's apartment is looking great, and Amoury's workshop is a marvel! it's great to see so much progress!

Where else but La Lande do you get to see a 15th century chateaux filled with the trappings of Scottish and English beefcake, the delight of hedgehog poo and three trotters for a pork pie sat next to a vintage Louis? Marvelous!

My local hedgehog hospital asks for chicken flavoured cat food pouches as donations, apparently hedgehogs don’t like the fish flavours. Hope this helps.

Sounds like there might be a good outcome for Herbert after all... Amaury must have worked like a mad man to get his workshop up and running to that standard, it will be interesting to see all the new woodwork projects... and Ian's projects are looking great. Josie's another professional, that pie was cookbook cover level, bet it was delicious!

My head is spinning from everything that is going on at La Lande. First is sweet little Herbert and hopefully his recovery. I would have been up at sunrise (even though I'm definitely a night owl who loves her sleep ins) and I was worrying right along with you. So much progress on all fronts with construction as well. Last but not least I am so glad to see dear Gerald back. Love you all tons.

I admire the efforts of all to always look out for the innocent wildlife. I’d never heard of putting a ticking watch in with an animal. Makes sense. Learned something new.
The warm water bottle (covered) and a ticking watch or clock remind any newly weaned animal of their mother's warmth and heartbeat. Learned this over 40 years ago from my grandmother, when she was given a kitten and a puppy by her grandchildren.
I really hope Herbert will be fine. Also, that pie... Beautiful! 🥧😍👍

On her Vlog she rescued a poisoned owl and found a rescue center as a permanent home for it after she saved it by hand feeding.
@@carolinegooder7091 I saw that too. In France the vets don’t help wild animals so much as the Uk so she has had to do it herself.

I have recently discovered utube as I'm not very technical. Loved you all on escape to the chateaux. I have not watched ordinary tv. Since I discovered you all on utube. Love your outlook on life. Love mammy and Scotsman. Hopefully I'll get to grips with the technology soon

My Mother and Aunt put pickled pigs feet in the rural mailbox as a joke and the mailman left them flowers and a request for more.🤣🤣🤣🌹
Oh my gràndfather loved those. When I was taking care of him 😸 n his last year's, he had me make him pigs feet. They cooked all day and the stench was in everything - clothes, hair, curtains, furniture. Yuk. This is the first I've heard of another man that wanted more pigs feet, pickled or otherwise. 🤢
My Mother never made them for us but said Grandma made a good meal out of them that Grandpa loved.
A little note for Josie - I made your braised red cabbage dish this evening: star anise, cinnamon, cider vinegar, oranges, orange juice, apples, it was lovely! Did I forget anything??

Had you thought about maybe transom windows at the top of Natty's bathroom walls to move more light around the apartment. I was thinking it would give a airier feel to the apartment.

My Ancestors (the Adcock family) popularized the pork pie. They took it by stagecoach from Melton Mowbray to London to sell in the early 1800's.

I love how Stephanie and Amaury tease each other. I grew up with a set a of 1st cousins that are as close as siblings. Eat off each other's plate to annoy? Yup I think Stephanie and Amaury are that close. In the states we call them pot pies (usually made from left over roasts) and if you love them you love them - especially in cold months. What do you all eat at La Lande during the cold months for comfort food. Is there a favorite soup or stew? Do you all ever make wassel (spiced cider hot drink).
Sandra Westley uk Pork Pies are not the same as pot pies, Pork pies are made with special pastry, contents are chopped pork, there can be a small hole in the top in which you can pour the jelly which sets around the pork, or some are made with the jelly just before you put the lid on.
