Something interesting is that liyue is the only nation so far where the archon war can be considered a real war or had people fighting over who gets to be the archon. Modstadt was just a single civilian revolt. Inazuma had orobashi, the thunder bird and the raiden sisters living peacefully alongside eachother(until orobashi was senteced to death by celestia and the thunder bird went on a rampage because her people sacrificed a kid she got along with). And Sumeru had Deshret, Rukhadevatta, and the goddess of flowers who were all friends
It's interesting that Rex Lapis seems like the back bone for the whole world of teyvat, we even use him as the name of our currency the Mora (it's kinda ironic too that he seems broke at times). Looks like the animosity and competitive nature of the archon war breed arguably the strongest nation in teyvat at that time. It's also funny that Venti is that lax with Rex Lapis, it makes sense how Rex Lapis talk about venti, it's like a well known friend and you're comfortable to bicker around his name but deep down you have respect for him. Its also fitting that Mondstadt to Liyue is easy to travel to.
Dude ZhongLi will always have my respect. This guy is just wise beyond compare. Sure Rukatavada has the most powerful information network, but I still think ZhongLi is the wisest of them all. Also, his composure is like ... dmn. It's like he's already seen everything in his +6000 years life and almost nothing can rattle him.
Zhongli's lore, and Guizhong's are the backbone of the timeline of Teyvat because we get precise date of the founding of Liyue Harbor and the destruction of Guili. But his timeline is confused a lot because of the lore about when his contracts with the Adepti were signed. When do you think they were all signed? I've found that the lore works a lot better if you don't assume Zhongli only signs one contract with each Adeptus. Indeed there seem to be three periods of mass signing of Adeptal contracts (3000, 3700 and a 3rd that's longer ago) and at least some of them probably signed each time, although perhaps just one did. Understanding Zhonglis contract timeline helps figure out the general Teyvat timeline better.
One of my crack speculation theories is that azdaha formed at the location that the dragon king originally perished (see apep's comments in nahidas second story quest) and that dragon king therefore had mastery over the 4 primal elements(cold,fire,water,electro) which is what azdaha can infuse himself with 2 of those 4 randomly weekly. (also look at text lore on the drops from azdaha mentioning specifically the dragon king)

Ok. How could Zhongli not be a descender? If Teyvat is 6000 years old and Zhongli is OLDER than 6000 years, he couldn’t be born on Teyvat. I would even go so far as to say he may be one of the four Phanes or even the Primordial one. Though Zhongli does not show it, I also believe he still has the immense power he had when he was Rex Lapis and Morax. He just doesn’t use his power. In fact the Travelors are the only “beings” who have seen Zhongli use his power. And finally, I believe that part of his contract with the Tsaritsa was to “heavenly summon” the travelers.

Zhongli says the contract which means he can't discuss the Cataclysm was signed a long time BEFORE the Cataclysm; so presumably wasn't specifically about the Cataclysm.
@@SiliconOneFour Well the reason I raised this and the other two issues is that I suspect (it's clearer for the other two) that these questions depend on a lot of tiny tiny off hand remarks scattered throughout Zhongli's lore, what he said, what people said about him... and it is a huge PITA trying to track it all down, and don't even get me started on all the bits about him and meteors hitting Liyue and the Chasm and chariots and whatnot. So... if you just got finished making this video, realistically you might not be in a better situation to think about those questions for a while. Like OK he signed this thing ... presumably when he became an Archon? but it's worded such as to stop him talking about a huge event thousands of years later, or whether or not he ever met a person that hadn't even arrived in Teyvat at the time? But he's OK talking about a lot of other stuff throughout history vaguely linked to his being an Archon? So it can't be something overly broad like "Never talk about anything you do in your capacity as an Archon". Well the details are in the negative spaces. Does this imply that Celestia was already fully aware that there would be a Cataclysm at that date? It's not unreasonable since we know two characters had prophecies about it. Does that mean they also had prophecies about the coming of the Twins? "OK about clause 4 -it says never talk about a war that breaks out in 2500 years time? how will we know which war?" "Oh don't worry - it'll be really really clear"

Afterall we still don't know much about ZhongLi. We only know that he is older than we think, he is not what we assume, and the thing you have to keep in mind is that he is bind to Celestia in bounds that are different from these of the other beings of Teyvat. He is not an Elemental being allegedly, we know that Venti was a wind spirit before he took the form of which we recognize him today, however ZhongLi has an unknown form... My total crack theory is that since we don't have a clear characterisation of what Zhong Li is, he might be of some kind that is not of the other Archons. I sttopped playing Genshin for a while and returned after I finished the Jarilo V quest in HSR. I highly ask you to read about Qliphoth, the Aeon of preservation, that might inlighten you in someway.

So, "In the beginning, Longwang Dijun (Rex Lapis) abdicated..." for a more accurate translation. In the original CN script, he's also described as "a son leaving/departing to his fiefdom" so there's a different context going on with him.
I love Zhongli he is my go to shield I never had anything to worry about with his shield I'm not very good at dodging so believe me his shield comes in very handy I also like the way he looks when he is fighting so whenever I feel like letting him fight that's what I do there are those who think that he just likes to kill but he had kill to make sure that his people survive look at Xiao master he was evil I'm glad that Zhongli was able to free Xiao from him Zhongli cares about his people and only wants the best for them
I wonder if Zhongli is actually the dragon king Nibelung in a hidden form. Perhaps his memories were wiped away and he's sort of waiting there for the right situation/words to trigger his return like some kind of sleeper agent.
That's the same thought I have in mind lately! He's a dragon to begin with. He's super old, he know more things he can't say, maybe to protect humans in teyvat beyond his Liyue people ?

Zhongli's staments about the Inazuma Archon twins seems very confused. Isn't it Venti that talks about someone being a Kagemusha? It's potentially important because it goes to the whole two pasts of Teyvat depending on Sakura or no Sakura. Unlike Sumeru's shenanigans people at least recognize the past changed. But then it gets ignored as if it didn't happen. It's not clear what lore sources are referring to which past - the Sakura one or the no Sakura one. It's also not clear how many sisters existed recently in each timeline. Zhongli's comments are especially odd.

The wierdness is especially because of the way Paimon says (in Inazuma sometime) Zhongli told the Traveler and Paimon about the Electro Archon twins when he actually didn't. It could be dismissed as an error except MiHoyo chose to later edit that same text by Zhongli discussing the Electro Archon and still didn't have him mention that he knew there were twins.

Yae Miko also says she never believed Ei when Ei came back from Khaenri'ah and said the Sakura tree contained Makoto's soul in some sense. Of course since almost nobody knew there were two Raidens to begin with there just wouldn't be much difference between a past with Makoto and one without her (because she became the Sakura). Venti's statement is the most clear, but Venti is weird since he claims he can sense stuff from other timelines and worlds. Yae Miko says she's Ei's familiar but flashbacks show her held by Makoto, not Ei. Those are Ei's memories though, so they are from the first samsara. And there's other weird stuff that goes on like the fantasy history book that Ei says is partially correct and gets banned then unbanned, or Yashiori islands' gorge. It's a whole timey-wimey mess that appears to preview Sumeru in all it's complexity but it went without comment at the time, because nobody knew what to do with it all. People just sort of assume the change of past didn't make any difference except - make a massive tree appear and completely change the history of Inazuma's religion and culture. I mean what exactly was Kitsune Saiguu a shrine priest OF in Ei's memories of 2500 years ago [the picnic scene with her and 3 friends], when the Sakura tree didn't exist yet??
You know geo wasn't really an interesting element to me by itself. But I still have hope for it in the future. I really have avatar the last airbendor to thank for this while I wasn't necessarily proud of my libra air sign that show made it so cool to be proud to be one. And they made Earg bending ten times cooler than any other show I gave seen. I see zhongli arms as just geo constructs he made himself. And whenever he does use them he only uses them for daily life or to protect his nation. But now that he made a contract to never use them in battle again they're just for show. I hope one day he may be forced to use them or rather someone breaks his contracts so he can finally use his abilites again.

Raiden was the one who talked about meeting Zhongli when she was a Kagemusha.
