@calebsmedia The delta made from 20" x 30" Dollar Tree foamboard ends up being 20" long, 20" wingspan, with 4" fins, and the CG is at 7". I've made 3 of these with different powerplants (2 with prop, 2 EDF) and plan on a comparison video with measured speeds coming soon. I like the tractor prop layout personally. They are simple, quiet, and really haul ass!
Watched this video years ago but when I was trying to attach the fins to the fun bat ( bloody wonder) I went back to your video for more ideas. Thanks again!
I can see how it's like the drywall solution you describe. I actually was a contractor for a few years and did a fair amount of drywall, but nearly all new installs, not much patching. The idea came from a plastic surgery technique called an "advancement flap", used for wound closure, which I knew from my work as a PA in the ER. Coincidentally I've also personally had a couple of flaps done on my left hand.
The wing is flat, no airfoil. It's a fast flyer and pretty lightly loaded so it has decent lift as such. The foamboard has paper facing, so it's like Depron but thinner, less dense, and has the paper to apply tape to. It's called Readi-Board, and as far as I know it's not available in South Africa. Depron can be made to work, it's just a different technique of making the fins.
Save your nice straight pieces for flat planes like the Fast Delta. Use the bent pieces for Armin Wings and tubular fuselages, and the bends and waves will come right out during the manufacturing process. Just noticed someone (not me) flagged your question as spam, which it's not. Sorry for the delay.
Fantastic you have shared many great ideas with us. Now we have an excellent jump start into this fantastic industry, with all the mental tools we will need, at a very reasonable cost.
@letmeplaymystrat I got the tape from Tape Brothers online. It's thinner than usual packing tape but seems to be stickier. It's a little transparent but usually turns out OK over white foamboard. There is definitely a darker stripe when overlapping strips, especially lighter colors.
i had been dinking around with putting separate pieces of tape over the edges and not getting the results i want. thx for this video. i use the blue fan fold foam. you make excellent use of the paper on the foam board to achieve your results. packing tape does not seem to stick to the FFF as well as it does to the paper. :-) not a big surprise.
@donjuanzx9 I will do it in the next couple of months. It is an easy build, not a great first plane though, so I'd recommend being proficient in RC flying in general though.
Have a look at the Synapse series on this channel for one version of the swept Armin Wing. It's been a great flying plane and my workhorse FPV platform. There are some other guys making swept and tapered wings but it's somewhat more work. Look for therevjvegas, templton89, and nieder99 here on youtube and on rcgroups.
@ExperimentalAirlines Can you make a video series to make a flying wing I havnt built my first foam plane yet and the flying wing looks like it would be a easy first build...
Great idea for the edge treatment. By the way, what brand of tape are you using? Most of the stuff I get locally seems to be very thin and and a bit transparent. Makes it hard to get a good consistent color.
Instead of using glue for this procedure, I have been using scotch brand two sided sticky tape, it gives me more time for positioning of the tape, and it will not peel off.
Hello there ,, firstly i like your vids alot , my question is your delta wing , is that a normal piece of depron , i mean a straight plat piece or is there some sort of airfoil on the wing, thanx alot South Africa
Great tips. Thanks for keeping the scratch builds easy, functional, affordable and cool looking. Keep it up.

Just getting into foamies. Great step by step tips. Clear steady video.

Very Nice...I wish I would have seen this before I made the fins for my last plane..Well done!
FPV Plane like yours coming soon!!!

Awesome idea with those fins.
Just subscribed, best techtalk build techniques on yutube!, gathered much knowledge in short time, kudos!

Keep'em coming!
Sweet, thanks brother!
another great tip, you have a great show
Im gonna watch every one of your videos,I wanna build your flying wing its perfect...

Hi thanks for all the vids. I would like to see the arman wing swept back and including vertical stablizers as done in the delta wing.
Nice tips. Thanks.
Thanks for the great tips! Keep em coming :)
From an explosion and many surgeries that followed. More details on the video: "Introduction - Ed @ Experimental Airlines"
how do you color them so glossy?

can you do a complete build of the wing i would love to build it ... its looks great
Once again good job! What are the measurements of the the delta and where is the CG? Thanks!
Very nice indeed.
Thanks sir.. very thankful for all .

do you have a video of you building the delta wing ? and shw how you cut the foam to make the wing ?

Awesome tips as always, thanks for sharing :-)
where do you get your colored packing tape?

colored packing tape

@kevinsai1 That is a really good idea! I will give it a try.
hi buddy , can i use monokote paper , ? i like your videos ¡

man I love what you do.
