Wow. Very impressive interview of the granddaughter of Koel of Punjab: Surinder Kaur. It was a great delight to listen to both Anil Punj and Sunaini Sharma.
We have been brought up listening to Surinder Kaur and Prakash Kaur songs in all gatherings, especially weddings. I recall my mother listening only to their songs. So, in the car, if I ever put on any other songs, mom would chide me: "Kaka, kuchh music laga (meaning Surinder and Prakash Kaur songs). Eh fazool da shor bund kar."
Sunaini fondly recalled her days with her Nani Surinder Kaur, which included even singing the sweet lori that her nani used to sing.
The efforts being put in by Sunaini to unearth the history of Punjabi folk music and tapping the healing effects of music are praiseworthy.
All in all, thirty minutes of total bliss going through this programme.
