This is what I need in my vineyard! I have a trail camera there now, but I don't get to look at the images very often!

Same with our trail cameras. The battery will go dead, and I wont have any idea until I get out there!

I never knew how these "internet of things" worked - at least those "things" that are wireless. These SIM cards allow the item to connect to a wireless provider, then how the thing works after that is up to the manufacturer. Some things connect to a company - like our electric meter. It used to be that someone came and read the meter, then they drove by and read it with a hand-held device, and now the usage goes right to the company via the internet. In this case, the camera sends info to the cell tower (internet), then stores it in the cloud and/or sends it to your phone or allegedly your computer (I can't get the camera app working on the computer). This allows people to set up remote security/game cameras that you can see in nearly real time!

I have a storage building in town where I keep my supplies. I have a security camera there that is hard wired, but it's on a plan from my cell provider, and is several times more expensive than this. The camera sucks as well, it's like six years old. I do believe I'm going to check this direction out. I look forward to the camera review!

I guess if you have to have an entire plan just to run a camera, it could get very expensive!

Thanks Larry, we are updating security around here, and I really had no idea how these wireless things worked, and these SIM cards are basically the key. It will be very interesting to see if these cameras work in the woods!

I was wondering how those wireless cameras connected to the internet, that's pretty cool! We have a building that is several hundred feet behind our house, and this would be a better idea than running a wire way back there! Thanks for the idea Mojo!

It would work as long as there is internet signal there. I was thinking of modern farms as well. Today's farms are a collection of properties that each have their own buildings where equipment, feed etc. is stored. Wireless cameras using SIM cards like these could be used to keep an eye on that expensive stuff!

I didn't know that devices needed a special card to connect to the internet.

I kinda knew that for phones, but it's anything connected to the internet via the cellular network.

Not sure. I only tested it briefly. I will be testing it in much more detail soon on the tiny house we are building if you want to see that. 😊

I've seen these cameras in the middle of nowhere. Don't ask why is was in the middle of nowhere 😉

I've seen them as well. I always assumed they had internet service, by I was probably mistaken. They were likely wireless!

I bought a year sim card plan last night on this card for my cell camera I just bought. I received an email receipt a few minutes later but nothing else indicating what I purchased or that it would be shipping soon. How long does it take to come in the mail and do you typically get a shipping notice? Is it normal to just get an email receipt but no other info about your purchase?
