i once dared myself to replay X6 and 100% it both on the ps1 version and the MMXLC2 version. both runs it took me like around 8 or 9 minutes to beat gate because of how annoying it was to get these hits in. hate when im trying to hit these orbs with a charged saber n the projectiles just get deleted
I loathe how this game ruined a fight that had great potential and buildup. Gate looks so magnificient in that golden armor, the boss theme slaps HARD, he is supposed to be the final obstacle (until Sigma gets shoehorned in, at least) of your journey, and all of that gets wasted on a stupid fight of attrition, jank and RNG that is thoroughly frustrating to even watch!
@@Kira22558There were numerous, less egregious ways to show that tho They could honestly just run with the "Gate is only hurt by his own weapons" approach without making it a frustrating mess of RNG dependence, death pits, sluggush boss design and all other hated boss design tropes you can imagine
If Gate was just a normal fight, he would be no different from the million other antagonists in the series that went down with a passable battle. To make his fight one of the few to be so heavy on random elements is to add tension, and to make it so the odds are against you and have this be the only fight that can't be speedkilled adds weight. Also he's fun to fight too, regardless of how cruel he is to speedrunners.
I used to think Gate was the hardest boss fight. I recently defeated him on Xtreme and yes it was difficult for me, I still defeated him. I tried using Yammark Option but I didn't stick with that strategy long enough instead I end up using The Z Saber.

I like sigma's inclusion in this game as his final game, but I wish Gate survived and it turned out that the Gate Sigma killed was actually a fake the whole time.
Wow this boss is the worst! like it sucks that you can only hurt him with those energy balls! Which I though for a second, I can defeat him with using attack from the ultimate armor but couldn't hurt him at all. Since I just realize you need to hurt him by using those energy balls, which is ridiculous like I am having a hard time Trying to defeat him, since I didn't have the sub tanks full all because I though I can beat him very fast all thanks. To the ultimate armor! like this x game is garbage and really frustrating and unfun for having such bad level designs That makes this game so unfun, which makes x5 way more fun since I really love x5 so much!
@@YouRrightman yes. one thing you can do if you have the legacy collection is turn on rookie hunter which ads floor to this fight. so you won't lose an e tank because you feel into the pit right after using it when gate was at half health.

Gate's Laboratory is the hardest final stage than everyone ever play.

X got the easy part of the lab(Rainy Turtloid mechanic) . Zero can be killed so easy in the Metal Shark Player mechanic

Didn't try X6 on extreme yet but I don't remember Gate being that bad. Granted, I used the awesome Ninja armor so that helped a lot.
