  • Basically an RD350 in R5 clothes. (Yes its a long video.. but no music or stupid commentary). Fire up and ride from cold. 72 R5 w RD lower end, 6 spd, etc. Filmed this to show reproduction RD cyls (yes the cheap ones ..w NO porting), stock R5 heads can run pretty well. even used the cheap pistons (center de-tabbed). Other details are V384A v force reeds for an RM100, that go in w no cyl mods, ebay knockoff PWK power jet carbs, period FPP chambers, Vape CDI (mzb) and a zeeltronic ign controller. So, basically ALL BOLT ON mods. Is it the fastest RD, ultimate way to build an ac rd? absolutely not. BUT what it does show is it can be easy to live with in traffic, and no midrange flat spot.. a lot of this ride was intentionally between 3500-6k with roll ons. cost of parts to modify bike: $200 cyls, $60 for the carbs, maybe $20 in jets, chambers were $150 used (had to repair) but comparable ones will be 6-800 new (NOT DG's). $350 for reeds and intakes, $650 for (all) ignition. So, i have ~1400 in it parts wise.. That is a supertune/barlow boost bottle, i cant remember what it cost. different modern pipes would put it in the 2k range. Good porting and different pistons, might be 2800. and its all reversible. (i do have all the stock stuff still) Only thing i really had to 'make' was the adapters (that are actually smooth inside and don't block the air jets) from the carbs to the y boot, but unis would also work fine.
