INSIDE HO CHI MINH CITY Airport - Departing from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam

- Departing from Ho Chi Minh City Airport called Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN). If this is your first visit to the Ho Chi Minh City Airport (Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport) you should find this video helpful for getting an idea of the airport procedures when you depart from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam (Saigon Airport).
The video begins with our arrival by taxi at Ho Chi Minh City Airport where we start off by giving the viewer a tour of the outside area of the airport. This is the airport drop off area which also offers passengers and their family and friends some outdoor restaurants and cafes to sit together at. We then make our way into the Ho Chi Minh City Airport Departure Terminal or Check-in Hall. Viewers are then given a tour of this area which includes the modern check-in counters, the views from the terminal windows (we watch a sunset and see a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner), we see some of the restaurants and shops available to passengers and also the location of the Ho Chi Minh City Airport VAT Refund (Tax Refund) Desk. After our tour around the airport Check-in area we pass through Immigration (Passport Control) and airport security. There is no footage from Immigration (Passport Control) or security because photography is not allowed in this area of the airport. Once we have made our way passed Immigration and Security and arrive at th Ho Chi Minh City main departure hall we begin a tour of this terminal which includes a walk to the East and West ends of this departure terminal. Viewers are presented with the Duty Free Shops, services, restaurants and bars available to passengers in this airport. The airport departure area features a medium sized Food Court, various airport lounges, passenger sleeping areas, an airport lounge available to all passengers with an entrance fee, a few spa´s and of course plenty of shops selling Vietnamese products and souvenirs from Vietnam. Just like the Check-in area the departure terminal also has a Tax Refund Desk (VAT Refund Desk). We conclude this video where we make our way to our gate for our flight.

As of November 2016, it had a total capacity of only 20 million passengers, which has caused constant congestion and sparked debate for expanding or building a new airport. It was also among the top 50 busiest airports in the world in terms of passengers handled in 2015, serving Ho Chi Minh City as well as the rest of southeastern Vietnam. Its IATA code, SGN, is derived from the city's former name of Saigon. The airport is expected to handle 32 million passengers in 2016..."

Tan Son Nhat airport was designed to receive 25 millions but in 2016 there were 31 million passengers. The final plan to build T3 and T4 was approved. This expansion will alllow Tan Son Nhat to receive up to 45 million passengers a year while waiting for the construction of Long Thanh International airport which is 30 km from Saigon downtown. This new airport will be international airport hub receiving up to 100 million passengers and Tan Son Nhat will be domestic airport when Long Thanh airport is finished.

When I had a transit at SGN I was in such a rush to catch my connecting flight to Taipei that I couldn't really see much of the airport at all. I arrived with about 1 hour delay and the bus ride from the plane to the terminal took forever. I didn't really have a good impression of SGN but seeing your video really questions my little impression. Looks much nicer than I remember it
Sometimes connections at airports really can be a rush, you will see that on our next Flight Review trying to catch our flight to Korea at Schiphol Airport. Amazing video Maxo and Maro. I had been to SGN in 2001 when my flight CX to HKG in afternoon. This look been changed after I visited the airport in 2001. Nice to see Nok Air B738 and Air Asia Line livery A320 plus TK A330. Soon I fly on SWA in 5 days and next month in June fly on ANA to BKK via NRT from SEA and Nok Air in Thai. The crews on walking are actually Turkish Airlines

There are some stores that sell all kinds of drinks and snacks. They have some banh mi as well, but I don't remember the price. But don't expect any quality, as this is of course an airport eatery.

TSN airport has 2 terminal: Terminal 1 for all domestic flights and Terminal 2 for all international flights. T1 only have ground floor for arrival and departure, it links via walking sidewalk. T2 have ground floor for arrival and first floor for departures.

It's a modern terminal and that is a good thing but it is too small terminal for handling so many foreign Airlines and Vietnam Airlines international flights.
