A way to make buildings (*look*) taller is to put reallllly tiny windows about half the size of what you've currently got so that there's four tall per wall then put a structural beams in between two of them to match the real wall trims…its hard to explain but it makes it look like there's a lot more height than there actually is! Gonna make a city soon too :)

A tip for the lighting, you can place the ceiling lights in the basement level to light up the floor above really well.
