Great job dude! Lovely to see one of the kids doing well. That little extra cutout in the middle of the discs is there to stop flag-style picks (like dimple picks). Abloy made the change to stop Seppo Tervonen, (the sex pest from the 80's) because his Vempele used a flag-style tool and others have copied the idea since. So now, unless your pick can cover the full outer semi-circle of the lock, you're not picking the lock. Try it, the flag tip will fall into the cutout and only turn the disc a bit.
Daz Evers Hey Daz, I just ordered my new lathe the other night. It should be here by truck in a week or so. I’ll need to do cleanup on it and get the DRO on it. Then do a few few other additions to it and I should be ready to go by the middle to end of next month. I’m looking at materials to use and I plan on getting with Al for some guidance. So I should be able to get rolling on them in about a month. Do you like brass Abloy picking tools? 😁
Great picking my friend, the half moon keyway is a nightmare for me, I have to reduce the shaft diametre of my home made tool because is not possible to set a cero cut disc and a consecutive deep cut disc. Very cool, thanks for showing, love the cut away you made on the lock, looks great. Take care my friend! ;o))
Plus some disc have a cut out in the centre that needs a semi circular picking tip too. Thanks for watching Tallan! I’m really, really behind watching people videos! 😃😃
I know next to nothing about DD locks and I think I've just understood for the first time what a "gate" actually is. I've heard that so many times but I never could visualise it nor how it works. Which brings me to a question: If it was your lock that you used for something not that cheap - couldn't you add false gates yourself by using e.g. a rotary tool to cut in more shallow slots into the disk?
You could, but in reality, you risk damaging the lock and it’s super unlikely someone would try to pick these locks when destructive techniques are easier and faster. 👍
@@LockNoob I know that criminals hardly if ever pick locks. I mostly wanted to verify if my understanding how this works is accurate. Thanks for the reply!
So the spacer disks will just freely spin in the lock? If so does that mean you might catch a true disk and a spacer disk with the pick tip and still pick the true disk? Great video by the way.
I agree I’d love to see the same video but with a board / cut out board obstructing your view of the cutaway , & the camera set up at the cutaway . So when you say ‘it’s set ‘ or its in a ‘gate’ or ‘ got a click’ we can see what your talking about . Thanks for video LB
Funfact: Abloy classics will always have a 6-0 disc, this is where the name problem 50 comes in. That is why this does not resemble an abloy classic at all
What a great clone of a classic lock! A tricky pick, but very do-able once you dial in the ‘feel’ of the discs. 😃👍🔐

That's very clever.
Very interesting thanks!
Thanks for the simple explanation, Hux.
Thanks! Having the correct tool for the job makes things much easier, but your skills make the tool work properly. That lock is indeed a nice clone.
I agree!
Great picking!!
Great to see that super pick in action!!!!
Thank you for sharing this!!
🐈🐾🐈👍🐾

Fried Pi 3.14159 That’s fantastic news, I’m easy although a brass DD pick would be very cool, and a bit different. I will drop you an email. 👍
Thanks friend! It’s a really lovely tool!
Great pick and an awesome video!
Very interesting.
Thanks 🙏
I’ve been lock Baking for 4 years and I only just started to get disk locks a few months ago
They can be a fun challenge!
Baking? You in Colorado?

Ordering that tool
Cool!
Great picking LN this is great instructional vid for these type of locks well done keep up the great work/vids. :)
Thanks 🙏
Thx for the Video. Nice pick and gut.
Can you tell me where you picked up the can lock? I can't seem to find them.
I actually can’t remember - might have been a trade or a random eBay purchase 🤷♂️

No, in this lock at least, the spacers are fixed in place 👍
I have some of those clones... They have an executive knock off too, but it's not as true to the original abloy... Cool video
Thanks 😊
Wish you would let us see the cut out while you pick it.
But if I did, other people would say I cheated - it happens sadly
@@LockNoob thanks for the reply. I get your point, it would be cool though. It would showcase how sensitive your fingers are when thinks click.

Interesting- I think this clone is pretty good, shove something false gates in and it would be even better
@@LockNoob Have you tried machining false gates into existing discs, similar to adding security pins to a challenge lock?
Not a bad idea 💡
Bud Ward removibt spacers with 0 turn discs is way worse and makes them unpickable with a 2 in 1
Ash loves his silver bullet! He treats disc detainer locks as werewolves lol. Kill them with a silver bullet bwahahahaha
Lol
@@LockNoob thought you might like that
