Funny story, in the Comics Deadpool actually explains how he was able to like bullets in half and do half the things he can. Turns out this because of his ability to break the fourth wall. He looks ahead in his own comic so that he can see we're enemies are going to be and how they're going to try and fight him so he can counter them before they actually attack. Pretty cool, right?

Random Dude it was funny. But I think it was clever as well. Like...hes fast, but not the flash. So he actually needed to be further back to not get hit at all. Then it was the fact that he knew that...but can't die so he didn't care...cause while he's doing that, the opposer is emptying their magazine...which takes away one less attack.
Deadpool is supposed to have superhuman reflexes, but you also forgot to take into account him reacting before the shot is fired, moving in reaction to the gun coming into position and starting his slice through the air as he watches the finger pull the trigger. Of course, that means he's mentally calculating the precise moment the gun will fire and where the bullet will be 5 milliseconds after, which isn't any easier, but gives him more time to be in position for the cutting of the bullet.
9mm isnt 19mm long, it's that long with the casing but the casing doesnt get shot, the length of the bullet can vary based off of what bullet is loaded into the casing

GabrielusPrime yeah being able to tell the trajectory of a bullet simply by glancing at the weapon firing it is indeed very impressive. It’s something I have been trying to learn in larping when faced with an archer as a knight. It’s not easy but I’ve almost gotten aim dodging down for a 35 pound pull strength bow.
This made me remember a man I had seen named Isao Machii from what I believe was Mythbusters or Stan Lee's superhumans show. He sliced a BB pellet moving over 200mph with a katana while standing 70 feet away. Simple math shows that the pellet was moving just under 300 feet per second. He had about 230 milliseconds to respond. However, it was stated that instead of seeing the tiny white pellet, as it would be nearly impossibly to see, he used the sound of the gun firing and mentally calculated the trajectory of the bullet. While I don't know what it would take to calculate all that, let's plug the difference the reaction to sound would make. As the speed of sound is about 1125 feet per second, at 70 feet it would take 62 milliseconds for the sound to reach him. So, if the information about him using the sound to react is true, then he would have 62 seconds less to respond. So in total, Isao Machii would only have about 168 milliseconds to react to the firing of the gun, process it (and calculate the trajectory), then move the sword into position. First off, that pellet may leave the barrel at 200mph (or just shy of 90m/s), but it will most definitely not be travelling at that speed toward the end. We are also going to assume it's the regular 6mm pellet. Looking at the chart for impact energy of the pellet vs distance, a pellet with original travel speed of 120m/s, a third faster than what was used in the katana trick, the pellet loses 78,6% of it's energy after 21 meters (70 feet). So going by that, the speed of the pellet is going to be about 41,66m/s, *less than half* of what it was when it left the barrel. For example, fastballs in baseball can travel at 48,3m/s (and they continue to travel closer to that velocity because the ball is much heavier). Still an impressive feat, though. EDIT: Also, we have no idea how many takes it took to get it to work. Did they get it right on the first try... Probably not.
While I had no doubt that it took more than one try, you are right. I was thinking of the pellet as a slow moving bullet and completely forgot about the reduction in speed it would endure. However, I do think that my point still stands about Isao Machii reacting much quicker than most people. However, thank you for the correction, I really wouldn't have thought about that.
Although people do react faster to sound than sight which is a variable which needs to be taken into account, Isao I believe was reacting to the persons act of aiming and using shorter motions than a full swing to improve the speed of his response. He did have to guess at the trajectory. I'd say Isao proves bullet slicing isnt impossible but it's a one time really really lucky thing that's only possible between a swordsman fast enough and with enough knowledge of fire arms to anticipate a bullets trajectory AND a marksman firing a single shot whose good enough to consistently hit an exact point every time they want to. Otherwise it's just pure luck that a blade is where a bullet is going.
So... the reaction time only covers the internal processes of reacting to the incoming bullet. The actual time taken to move the sword from where it is to where it needs to be would be significant on top of the 5ms. Probably needing Flash speed and the inherent problems with acceleration. Deadpool definitely doesnt have that capability, at least he doesnt bother to use it at any other time. More plausible(?) is the idea that he is super effective (or super naturally effective) at reading/predicting what the shooter is about to do and acts simultaneously to meet the bullet in mid air rather than starting to react after its been fired. Now Deadpool is certainly fond of a fourth wall break, and seems to be aware of the fictional nature of the universe he is in, so maybe its this same insight or perception that allows him to judge when a bullet is going to come and from where?
A real person CAN block a bullet, however they cannot wait for the gun to fire, reaction time is WAAAYYY to slow. How it works rather is reacting to the man holding the gun, that is humanly possible. Taking note of the direction(looking up the barrel of the gun) anticipating the shot and putting something along that path BEFORE it is fired can be done...but you need loads of intution, and luck on your side...and quick wits, you gotta think faster than the guy who's squeezing the trigger while trying to point the barrel in your direction.
The reason fruit flies have the fastest reaction time is because their entire nervous system is so tiny. It takes such a shorter amount of time because the chemical messengers literally have less distance to travel. I don't think a human could have this power without some serious physiological changes.
@@Arunnejiro well, no. Electricity travels at the speed of light, so I doesn't work like that. But you could just make it so that more of your nervous system uses electrical impulses since most of the slowness comes from the chemical signals that have to happen.

Keep in mind in Deadpool 2, Deadpool did get hit by some of the bullets, his healing factor just kept him from dying and healed him in seconds after sustaining the injuries. He's not as worried about getting hurt so it gives him more room to mess up.
What if he's not looking at the bullet? What if he is just predicting the shooter? Professional fighters do this all the time. They predict their opponent, not their feet and hands. That's how Ali could dodge a whole combination sequence of punches.

tbh, it would be simpler to react to the placement of Cable's hand, and where he's aiming. If you have super-human reaction time anyways, then the moment someone aims a gun at you, you already know what path the bullet is taking. Thus, you may actually have anywhere from 5 ms, to several seconds to adjust your Sword (or whatever weapon) into position, and only correct for minor adjustments like tilting your wrist a centimeter or two.
I think you would be more reasonable to believe that Deadpool is reacting to the muzzle direction of the gun. Less to the actual bullet being fired. predicting bullet paths and getting his sword in place to deflect. Which gives him more reaction time

But Deadpool isn't holding the sword still, he is swinging it. The larger the difference in velocity between the bullet and the sword, the more horizontal velocity is produced as a result (0.342 m/s per m/s of forward velocity assuming a 20 degree angle on each side of the blade). Also momentum must be conserved, so the forward velocity of the bullet must have also decreased proportionally to the cosine of the blade angle, I can't remember if you accounted for this. These two things together (decreased forward velocity and increased horizontal velocity) increase as the sword velocity increases, so the physics may be more on Deadpool's side here than initially calculated.

EVERYONE IS FORGETTING THE FACT THAT NO BLADE WILL EVER BE HELD PARALLEL TO A BODY, BUT RATHER AT A MUCH MORE CONFORTABLE 30-70 DEGREES, MEANING THE IMPACT AND THUS SLICE WOULD HAPPEN A LOT EARLIER, AND THUS INCREASE ever so slightly THE ANGLE. Ok thanks

Deadpool successfully splits bullets at head height in Xmen Origins and DP2 so the 50cm clearance isn't needed, half it. When he attempts to do it against Cable below head height he's hit multiple times to hammer this home. Really though. If you had reaction times needed to slice bullets you wouldn't have to as you could simply move aside. Actually it would make more sense to slice the ones you can't dodge (since you're still a big target and take time to move) and just ignore the rest. Standing head on and blocking every bullet that comes your way is more of a screw you moment to the guy holding the gun when in reality you should be slicing bullets WHILE dodging and ADVANCING towards the guy with the gun
Cleife117 if you had the reactions time needed you couldnt "simply move aside" becauss thats hard as fuck, and deadpool isnt known for super strenght/speed, so its not really possible for him to dodge bullets (unless he maybe anticipates 1-2 of them and starts moving in advance, which like i said, would only work for a small number of bullets) On the other hand, its much easier to move your hands, they have less mass and a ferm "grip" on your body. Moving them at a really high speed in almost an instant itspossible even for a normal human
If the 2 super guys are standing 2 meters apart and then are holding their weapons about 50cm in front of themselves, that would make the working distance between their weapons less than 1 meter, and if the required reaction time linearly extrapolates, Deadpool's only got 2.5ms to react. (That's about 4 times as slow as the guy who comments first on your videos). Did you account for their weapon distance, or did you only consider the body distance in that trailer shot?

there are a few problems. 1, the bullet is not 19mm long, that is the entire cartridge length. also, dont forget that the bullet is spinning at high rpm, which will effect the deflection of the halves.
Dustin Shadle Many of the slow mo expiriments show the bullet pieces angling straight away with very little continued spin. If anything, there is a slight vertical deviation.

Yep. Here's another example of obsession with the mathematics and missing the obvious. Deadpool wouldn't necessarily have to react to a bullet being fired. Technically he just has to keep his sword in front of wherever the pistol is pointing. Now obviously in the movie he does some "fancy" figure-8 pattern but he clearly gets shot to pieces in the process. Another problem is the 44 degree angle calculation. That may be necessary at arms length, but the sword has length too. If the cutting edge intercepted the bullet closer to the tip of the sword, the angle could be far less.
Reaction time cutting bullets isn't really a factor for Deadpool. His fourth wall breaking means he is watching the bullets come at him in slow motion; "Did we get that in slow mo?" giving him all the time he needs to react and precisely place his katana.
That is what I immediately thought too. Deadpool actually knows the location of each and every shot in essence at any moment outside of normal time. He is merely attempting to slice them using his heightened speed and reflexes to attempt to cut them in space in time he is already fully aware of which means he reacts before the actual shot leaves the barrel so reaction time is not a factor. He likely also knows before hand how futile his efforts really are but does it anyway because it's fun and funny.
A 44 degree angle is possible of course but it would make for a very poor cutting implement especially when considering that most functional swords get sharpened at around 20 degrees. A better way of shaping a sword that could effectively deflect a bullet might be to give it a hollow grind so that the edge can be sharper while allowing the raised center ribs direct the two halves of the projectile away from the wielder.
Maxime Boucher I think that a hollow grind would be easily damaged, that's why you don't see swords of axes with a hollow grind. A convex grind is ideal for splitting and it is more resistant
Another way to do it would be to have the blade be that sharp, but have the middle section have a degree change to 44 instead. Rubber bullets would be a good way to practice too.
A convex grind on the edge bevel would definitely be more durable but you still could use a blade with a hollow grind in the cross section to help redirect the remains of the projectile without having such a steep angle.
Kyle, you could probably add at least another foot to how far away from his body Deadpool hits the bullet, because he's not standing there with his sword held vertically rigid, he's swinging it. So depending on where the sword is in its arc when he hits the bullet, it could be anywhere from 2-5 feet away from him, meaning the sword edge could be a smaller angle, something more in line with a katana's edge.
More from that: you calculated the distance between thanos wannabe to deadpoof, but didnt take into how far the gun is from wannabes body and the katanas distance from deadpools. Which makes the distance between the gun and the katana like a half of what you said, and completely destroy this videos conclusion. Sorry again
did a lil research to clarify and this is what i found: -Cable height =2.03m (comic) 1.72m (actor) -dead-pool height = 1.84m (comic) 1.87m (actor) -avg male arm span = height+5cm -katana length for ~1.82m person should be about 68.58cm -avg head width 15.2cm using these numbers some ratios and fancy math - dead-pool and cable couldn't be any less ~3.2m (actor) ~3.4m (comic) or else dead-pools out stretched arms with katana would be touching cables gun - the blade angle would have to be at least ~35 degrees for a body shot and ~10 degrees for head shot to miss assuming the bullet is cut about the middle of the blade and being that katana blade angle is on avg. ~20 degrees its in the right ball park
he'd have to align his sword with the barrel in time, have either a firm enough grip to withstand the bullet's impact or be swinging, along with a trigger squeeze probably taking less then 100ms if i'm being generous, and cable shoots a different place every shot as shown in the trailer, so it's constant adjustments which slow reaction time. still, humans can react at 110ms at a professional gamer level so a super human with powers could probably half that atleast.

He could. Would require knowing how much the recoil would affect where the bullet would end up going, which would require him knowing how strong Cable is gripping the gun plus the recoil of the gun.
Actually the real Thor character is smarter than that. Asgardians are a highly advanced race technologically and scientifically speaking. They play with things as children that even our highest level geniuses couldn't begin to fathom. The fast reaction times from smaller creatures literally has to do with their sizes, not nerve conduction velocities as is important for Deadpool as described here. A better example would be cats who literally have nerve conduction velocities 40% quicker than us, IIRC. As to katana wielders chopping bullets, look up Isao Machii.

A bullet traveling 350m/s takes 5.714 milliseconds to travel 2 meters. Kyle rounded down when he said "5 milliseconds" and then used the exact value when comparing against the reaction time "250 milliseconds."
Yeah you're right, I guessed it was something related to that. I was also thinking that maybe Kyle also considered (without drawing it) that when you shoot a gun, the weapon is in your hand and not on your chest, so the distance and time are different from what he used in the video. However that would make the reaction time required higher not lower. It would be like 3 milliseconds to deflect a bullet coming from 1.50 meters or something like that
Would there be a significant difference between getting shot by the actual bullet versus getting hit by fragments of the bullet. I think answering this will determine whether or not you would want to slice the bullets.
For DP, both would mean nothing. (for us though, I would expect them to penetrate less due to the deformed shape and loss of momentum, proving to be less fatal but then again fragments of a bullet heading for the chest may hit the eyes or some other sensitive place)
i was just thinkin about how he is writing the stuff down- my first thought was he actually writes it on glass or something- but then i realized it would be quite hard to keep that glass so clean, also it would require him to write everything mirror'd. Was it later edited then? well it looks really smooth so he still has to do the almost perfect movement to make the effect real- wich is literally impossible and it would be easier to just write it mirror'd. Then I realized he may just write it down normally and mirror the entire video- i felt a little stupid that it took me that long but i think i figured it out ^^
Wait, but this is suggesting you are just holding the sword out in front of you, but we see Deadpool swinging the katana, so my question is would there be any transfer of momentum from the katana to the bullet? Maybe friction between the blade and bullet or just the impact slowing it down enough that the bullets gain some extra directional influence from the katana?
Correct. Or to be even more correct the bullet is 9.01mm wide and case is 19.15mm long. Bullet length varies from model to model and weight also varies. 7 grams usually considered a light bullet and 8 grams is a heavy bullet.
There are also 2 more options how the bullet pieces might miss you. First, your head is not as wide as your shoulders, which means that the angle wouldnt have to be as big, and secondly you could also rotate the Katana while slicing to alter their flight path.

Funny story, in the Comics Deadpool actually explains how he was able to like bullets in half and do half the things he can. Turns out this because of his ability to break the fourth wall. He looks ahead in his own comic so that he can see we're enemies are going to be and how they're going to try and fight him so he can counter them before they actually attack. Pretty cool, right?

Deadpool is supposed to have superhuman reflexes, but you also forgot to take into account him reacting before the shot is fired, moving in reaction to the gun coming into position and starting his slice through the air as he watches the finger pull the trigger. Of course, that means he's mentally calculating the precise moment the gun will fire and where the bullet will be 5 milliseconds after, which isn't any easier, but gives him more time to be in position for the cutting of the bullet.

This made me remember a man I had seen named Isao Machii from what I believe was Mythbusters or Stan Lee's superhumans show. He sliced a BB pellet moving over 200mph with a katana while standing 70 feet away. Simple math shows that the pellet was moving just under 300 feet per second. He had about 230 milliseconds to respond. However, it was stated that instead of seeing the tiny white pellet, as it would be nearly impossibly to see, he used the sound of the gun firing and mentally calculated the trajectory of the bullet. While I don't know what it would take to calculate all that, let's plug the difference the reaction to sound would make. As the speed of sound is about 1125 feet per second, at 70 feet it would take 62 milliseconds for the sound to reach him. So, if the information about him using the sound to react is true, then he would have 62 seconds less to respond. So in total, Isao Machii would only have about 168 milliseconds to react to the firing of the gun, process it (and calculate the trajectory), then move the sword into position. First off, that pellet may leave the barrel at 200mph (or just shy of 90m/s), but it will most definitely not be travelling at that speed toward the end. We are also going to assume it's the regular 6mm pellet.
Looking at the chart for impact energy of the pellet vs distance, a pellet with original travel speed of 120m/s, a third faster than what was used in the katana trick, the pellet loses 78,6% of it's energy after 21 meters (70 feet).
So going by that, the speed of the pellet is going to be about 41,66m/s, *less than half* of what it was when it left the barrel. For example, fastballs in baseball can travel at 48,3m/s (and they continue to travel closer to that velocity because the ball is much heavier).
Still an impressive feat, though.

While I had no doubt that it took more than one try, you are right. I was thinking of the pellet as a slow moving bullet and completely forgot about the reduction in speed it would endure. However, I do think that my point still stands about Isao Machii reacting much quicker than most people. However, thank you for the correction, I really wouldn't have thought about that.
Although people do react faster to sound than sight which is a variable which needs to be taken into account, Isao I believe was reacting to the persons act of aiming and using shorter motions than a full swing to improve the speed of his response. He did have to guess at the trajectory. I'd say Isao proves bullet slicing isnt impossible but it's a one time really really lucky thing that's only possible between a swordsman fast enough and with enough knowledge of fire arms to anticipate a bullets trajectory AND a marksman firing a single shot whose good enough to consistently hit an exact point every time they want to. Otherwise it's just pure luck that a blade is where a bullet is going.

So... the reaction time only covers the internal processes of reacting to the incoming bullet. The actual time taken to move the sword from where it is to where it needs to be would be significant on top of the 5ms. Probably needing Flash speed and the inherent problems with acceleration. Deadpool definitely doesnt have that capability, at least he doesnt bother to use it at any other time. More plausible(?) is the idea that he is super effective (or super naturally effective) at reading/predicting what the shooter is about to do and acts simultaneously to meet the bullet in mid air rather than starting to react after its been fired. Now Deadpool is certainly fond of a fourth wall break, and seems to be aware of the fictional nature of the universe he is in, so maybe its this same insight or perception that allows him to judge when a bullet is going to come and from where?
A real person CAN block a bullet, however they cannot wait for the gun to fire, reaction time is WAAAYYY to slow. How it works rather is reacting to the man holding the gun, that is humanly possible. Taking note of the direction(looking up the barrel of the gun) anticipating the shot and putting something along that path BEFORE it is fired can be done...but you need loads of intution, and luck on your side...and quick wits, you gotta think faster than the guy who's squeezing the trigger while trying to point the barrel in your direction.

The reason fruit flies have the fastest reaction time is because their entire nervous system is so tiny. It takes such a shorter amount of time because the chemical messengers literally have less distance to travel. I don't think a human could have this power without some serious physiological changes.

Keep in mind in Deadpool 2, Deadpool did get hit by some of the bullets, his healing factor just kept him from dying and healed him in seconds after sustaining the injuries. He's not as worried about getting hurt so it gives him more room to mess up.

tbh, it would be simpler to react to the placement of Cable's hand, and where he's aiming. If you have super-human reaction time anyways, then the moment someone aims a gun at you, you already know what path the bullet is taking. Thus, you may actually have anywhere from 5 ms, to several seconds to adjust your Sword (or whatever weapon) into position, and only correct for minor adjustments like tilting your wrist a centimeter or two.
I think you would be more reasonable to believe that Deadpool is reacting to the muzzle direction of the gun. Less to the actual bullet being fired. predicting bullet paths and getting his sword in place to deflect. Which gives him more reaction time

But Deadpool isn't holding the sword still, he is swinging it. The larger the difference in velocity between the bullet and the sword, the more horizontal velocity is produced as a result (0.342 m/s per m/s of forward velocity assuming a 20 degree angle on each side of the blade).
Also momentum must be conserved, so the forward velocity of the bullet must have also decreased proportionally to the cosine of the blade angle, I can't remember if you accounted for this.
These two things together (decreased forward velocity and increased horizontal velocity) increase as the sword velocity increases, so the physics may be more on Deadpool's side here than initially calculated.

Deadpool successfully splits bullets at head height in Xmen Origins and DP2 so the 50cm clearance isn't needed, half it. When he attempts to do it against Cable below head height he's hit multiple times to hammer this home. Really though. If you had reaction times needed to slice bullets you wouldn't have to as you could simply move aside. Actually it would make more sense to slice the ones you can't dodge (since you're still a big target and take time to move) and just ignore the rest. Standing head on and blocking every bullet that comes your way is more of a screw you moment to the guy holding the gun when in reality you should be slicing bullets WHILE dodging and ADVANCING towards the guy with the gun
Cleife117 if you had the reactions time needed you couldnt "simply move aside" becauss thats hard as fuck, and deadpool isnt known for super strenght/speed, so its not really possible for him to dodge bullets (unless he maybe anticipates 1-2 of them and starts moving in advance, which like i said, would only work for a small number of bullets)
On the other hand, its much easier to move your hands, they have less mass and a ferm "grip" on your body. Moving them at a really high speed in almost an instant itspossible even for a normal human

If the 2 super guys are standing 2 meters apart and then are holding their weapons about 50cm in front of themselves, that would make the working distance between their weapons less than 1 meter, and if the required reaction time linearly extrapolates, Deadpool's only got 2.5ms to react. (That's about 4 times as slow as the guy who comments first on your videos).
Did you account for their weapon distance, or did you only consider the body distance in that trailer shot?

there are a few problems. 1, the bullet is not 19mm long, that is the entire cartridge length. also, dont forget that the bullet is spinning at high rpm, which will effect the deflection of the halves.

What if, much like a batter (as in baseball), Deadpool were to start the swing of his sword in anticipation of the coming bullet? Would that give him the chance of hitting a bullet from a more reasonable distance away?
Yep. Here's another example of obsession with the mathematics and missing the obvious. Deadpool wouldn't necessarily have to react to a bullet being fired. Technically he just has to keep his sword in front of wherever the pistol is pointing. Now obviously in the movie he does some "fancy" figure-8 pattern but he clearly gets shot to pieces in the process.
Another problem is the 44 degree angle calculation. That may be necessary at arms length, but the sword has length too. If the cutting edge intercepted the bullet closer to the tip of the sword, the angle could be far less.

Reaction time cutting bullets isn't really a factor for Deadpool. His fourth wall breaking means he is watching the bullets come at him in slow motion; "Did we get that in slow mo?" giving him all the time he needs to react and precisely place his katana.
That is what I immediately thought too. Deadpool actually knows the location of each and every shot in essence at any moment outside of normal time. He is merely attempting to slice them using his heightened speed and reflexes to attempt to cut them in space in time he is already fully aware of which means he reacts before the actual shot leaves the barrel so reaction time is not a factor. He likely also knows before hand how futile his efforts really are but does it anyway because it's fun and funny.

A 44 degree angle is possible of course but it would make for a very poor cutting implement especially when considering that most functional swords get sharpened at around 20 degrees. A better way of shaping a sword that could effectively deflect a bullet might be to give it a hollow grind so that the edge can be sharper while allowing the raised center ribs direct the two halves of the projectile away from the wielder.

I think that a hollow grind would be easily damaged, that's why you don't see swords of axes with a hollow grind. A convex grind is ideal for splitting and it is more resistant
Another way to do it would be to have the blade be that sharp, but have the middle section have a degree change to 44 instead. Rubber bullets would be a good way to practice too.
A convex grind on the edge bevel would definitely be more durable but you still could use a blade with a hollow grind in the cross section to help redirect the remains of the projectile without having such a steep angle.

Kyle, you could probably add at least another foot to how far away from his body Deadpool hits the bullet, because he's not standing there with his sword held vertically rigid, he's swinging it. So depending on where the sword is in its arc when he hits the bullet, it could be anywhere from 2-5 feet away from him, meaning the sword edge could be a smaller angle, something more in line with a katana's edge.

-katana length for ~1.82m person should be about 68.58cm

- the blade angle would have to be at least ~35 degrees for a body shot and ~10 degrees for head shot to miss assuming the bullet is cut about the middle of the blade and being that katana blade angle is on avg. ~20 degrees its in the right ball park

Pete H you don’t have to cut/swing at the bullet, you simply have to place the sword in the muzzle’s path
he'd have to align his sword with the barrel in time, have either a firm enough grip to withstand the bullet's impact or be swinging, along with a trigger squeeze probably taking less then 100ms if i'm being generous, and cable shoots a different place every shot as shown in the trailer, so it's constant adjustments which slow reaction time. still, humans can react at 110ms at a professional gamer level so a super human with powers could probably half that atleast.
HoundOfMrGod I was actually just going to reply about the fact that Cable could see Deadpool slicing the bullets and constantly aim for different parts of the torso, which would require godly reaction times all the same if still trying to cut from the guns directions..
He could. Would require knowing how much the recoil would affect where the bullet would end up going, which would require him knowing how strong Cable is gripping the gun plus the recoil of the gun.

Actually the real Thor character is smarter than that. Asgardians are a highly advanced race technologically and scientifically speaking. They play with things as children that even our highest level geniuses couldn't begin to fathom. He doesn't seem as smart because he was raised by a different civilization with different social structures. He doesn't grasp our social construct is all. Plus he's been alive for centuries of our time. In Marvel they came in Nordic times and upon their powers being seen and revered it gave rise to the stories of the Horse gods and they were worshipped as such

The fast reaction times from smaller creatures literally has to do with their sizes, not nerve conduction velocities as is important for Deadpool as described here. A better example would be cats who literally have nerve conduction velocities 40% quicker than us, IIRC. As to katana wielders chopping bullets, look up Isao Machii.

A bullet traveling 350m/s takes 5.714 milliseconds to travel 2 meters. Kyle rounded down when he said "5 milliseconds" and then used the exact value when comparing against the reaction time "250 milliseconds."
He probably hit the "2" instead of "5" thus typing 220/5.
Yeah you're right, I guessed it was something related to that.
I was also thinking that maybe Kyle also considered (without drawing it) that when you shoot a gun, the weapon is in your hand and not on your chest, so the distance and time are different from what he used in the video.
However that would make the reaction time required higher not lower. It would be like 3 milliseconds to deflect a bullet coming from 1.50 meters or something like that

Would there be a significant difference between getting shot by the actual bullet versus getting hit by fragments of the bullet.
I think answering this will determine whether or not you would want to slice the bullets.
For DP, both would mean nothing.
(for us though, I would expect them to penetrate less due to the deformed shape and loss of momentum, proving to be less fatal but then again fragments of a bullet heading for the chest may hit the eyes or some other sensitive place)

I noticed that too, and wondered. "Wideness" is a word, so it must have a use, just not sure if this was the correct usage.
i was just thinkin about how he is writing the stuff down- my first thought was he actually writes it on glass or something- but then i realized it would be quite hard to keep that glass so clean, also it would require him to write everything mirror'd. Was it later edited then? well it looks really smooth so he still has to do the almost perfect movement to make the effect real- wich is literally impossible and it would be easier to just write it mirror'd.
Then I realized he may just write it down normally and mirror the entire video- i felt a little stupid that it took me that long but i think i figured it out ^^

Wait, but this is suggesting you are just holding the sword out in front of you, but we see Deadpool swinging the katana, so my question is would there be any transfer of momentum from the katana to the bullet? Maybe friction between the blade and bullet or just the impact slowing it down enough that the bullets gain some extra directional influence from the katana?

Um... the 9mm bullet is not 19mm in length... most are around 8 to 12mm in length... the CASING or brass is 19mm in length...

Correct. Or to be even more correct the bullet is 9.01mm wide and case is 19.15mm long. Bullet length varies from model to model and weight also varies. 7 grams usually considered a light bullet and 8 grams is a heavy bullet.

There are also 2 more options how the bullet pieces might miss you. First, your head is not as wide as your shoulders, which means that the angle wouldnt have to be as big, and secondly you could also rotate the Katana while slicing to alter their flight path.
