    This is a reallly cool idea. Fabric is often very expensive just to mess it up. I'm glad you gave me a cheaper way to try a new sewing project.

    Should I wash it before I use it? The muslin I purchased was from a shop that sells a lot of fabrics that are used for Middle Eastern/African dress.
    They only had the one style of muslin and the weave is tight and it's not what I would consider lightweight but can I use it anyways?

    I bought a Muslin fabric that was dyed a really beautiful colour that I just love! It seems a waste to use it just as a mock up. I'd like to make it into a dress but I cannot find any information online on how to sew a real dress with muslin and how to add lining (as it is quite transparent). Do you have any ideas? Honestly its so transparent that I would need to use two layers of the muslin to do justice to the colour, as well as an opaque lining. I have no idea if that is even possible.

    I think you don't know about muslin. It was made in Bangladesh. It was world famous. British occupied and ruled India, then Bangladesh, India, Pakistan were one country. At that time, Bangladesh was known as Dhaka. Muslin was called Dhakai Muslin. The British cut off the fingers of muslin workers to increase their cloth trade. Muslin is one, it is absurd that there would be another cloth called Muslin in the world.

    Muslin is very hard to get nd You can't call any cloth muslin simply if you want to . I think you have less knowledge bout muslin.In the 17th and 18th centuries Dhaka(Dacca) in Bengal was regarded as producing the finest muslins.Though Dhaka muslin vanished more than a century ago, there are still intact saris, tunics, scarves and dresses in museums today. So don't fool us.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not fooling you. You can walk into any fabric store & buy it or order it online. Fabric changes over centuries but you can still go buy muslin . I use it for all my samples.
