Fendi is seriously underrated. They have gorgeous, classic bags that are so well-made and the designs are well tought out. I have realized it more in the past 2 years… i am nowhere near the vicinity of even having the right to want a kelly but agree about the functionality. Hermes bags are just not my cup of tea so I’m with you on this one. Fendi ftw.
this is so crazy I was literally having this exact conversation with my Fendi SA on Friday night, I said that the peekaboo is comparable to the H Kelly, and fun fact "the peekaboo is the only bag to have a back. bone which holds the bag and keeps it standing up, Silvia was brought up in her Grandmas atelier! she always wanted to design a bag that is strong like her mum and grandma! she was always amazed by how strong and creative they were, and that's how she was inspired to design such a masterpiece", I personally really loved that sentiment
I appreciate that you’re one of the few TH-camrs who would dare compare these two. I have the Peekaboo with some type of exotic interior on my wishlist.
I have both the Kelly 28 and the mini peekaboo. I find the Fendi a much more casual bag, even though I have the Kelly Retourne which gives a more casual look. No doubt the Fendi is easier to use as I leave it open. I tend to wear it crossbody with a Fendi Strap where as I mostly carry the Kelley by the top handle and let the strap hang. I love them both with the Fendi being a more daily bag for me.

Just bought the white peekaboo mini with taupe stitching and I LOVE it! I can’t compare to the Kelly but I’ve always thought the access and dangling sangles would annoy me. I’m more casual and love my two Evelyne bags, but didn’t want a third.

I nearly bought a peekaboo a few years ago but ended up putting the funds to something else - but it’s always been in the back of my mind that I may get one at some point! 😊

I am very lucky to have 2 peekaboos in my collection, one iconic in calfskin and one in the IseeU east west. I am yet to buy a selleria version... would love one! I think its a great alternative to the Kelly... its so understated and underrated, and of course a much more affordable and accessible option! Having said that, it would be nice to own a Birkin one day 😂

Yes people should know these things 😂, thank you for putting all the info together in one place and presenting to us, not a lot of TH-camrs would. I still want both though! The price points and functionality of the two would make me use them in different ways for different occasions. I would quite happily use the Peekaboo as a nicer everyday grab and go and the two pockets are so useful, where as a Kelly would be a more of special occasion bag - lunches, weddings etc. and would last me longer only because it wouldn’t be used as much.
Just going back and watching your videos! Love this one. I have a couple of Kellys and I did have a sellieria peekaboo. I got the peekaboo because I was lusting after a Kelly. Once I got my Kelly I never reached for the peekaboo. They were similar colours. I think the peekaboo is a beautiful bag and quality is stunning. My Kellys are both 28 retourne and I love this size. The mini peekaboo i found a little small. Also although I like the structure of it being two compartments, this restricts what you can fit in compared to one bigger section so I prefer the Kelly for that. I love how the Kelly can look different - more formal all done up or casual with sangals loose eg. Agree quality isn’t massively different in my view but for me I would choose Kelly all day long. But that’s because I am lucky to have them. The peekaboo is definitely a beautiful alternative.

I bought peekaboo petite size recently and I’m head over heels by the size and structure I’m glad I’m waiting little longer till the new petite size come out always want peekaboo but always not impressed with the slouchy look and the size till the come with new petite size and it’s just perfect.I own kelly 25 and mini too but peekaboo also stand out very elegant just like kelly ❤
I had a mini Peekaboo and sold it because it wasn’t for me. I hated that I couldn’t close it because if I did, the shape would not be right. Aesthetically, it was a dream. The selleria version is the one I’m after next, that leather is the solution to that design flaw.
Great video. I am a bit torn. Going to Paris and will see if I get offered anything a Hermes. One point I don’t believe you mentioned is that Hermes holds its resell value and often goes up in value. Whereas Fendi is sold second hand at 50% or less. So kind of hard knowing I am thinking about spending $6,500 on the new fendi peekaboo, when in a few years it won’t be as sought after. Seems like it’s smarter to buy Fendi gently used.

Great video 💕 The Fendi mini Peekaboo selleria was actually the first luxury bag I decided to purchase when I was a newbie to luxury, and it’s still one of my favorites. I knew nothing about it lol - I just saw it at my local Saks, was instantly drawn to it, and purchased it in London while on a work trip. I later learned more about it’s quality details thanks to two of my absolute favorites on TH-cam, Dayle and Cindy’s Favorite Things (another Aussie 😊), and now you! I guess I’m lucky that my first foray into luxury bags wasn’t a fail or regret 😂 I think the Kelly is beautiful, but to me the Peekaboo is more playful and youthful, and less serious, which suits my personal style.

I lean more towards the Peekaboo simply from the functionality aspect! I know both bags are made beautifully, but I think the sangles on the Kelly might piss me off 🤣.
Yeah they‘re not for everyone! In the Kelly’s defense most people have their own way of positioning things and securing them to make it work so to each their own xx
I have two peekaboos...a red mini iconic and a grey medium sellaria...they are both phenomenally made and the leather is impeccable. My dream Hermes bag is a Kelly 28 or 32...but I'd be satisfied with my Fendi if I never got one!
For sure, once you get to a certain level of craftsmanship by the person making the bag and the quality of components, there isn’t a huge difference between different bags. But I will say that I prefer one larger compartment to two smaller ones. I’d use a bag organizer and have more room for items.
I think the selleria fendi peekaboo leather quality is fantastic - very much like the ferragamo leather…. I think Ferragamo bags are also very underrated. 👍❤️
I believe Hermès receive the finest grades of leather and they do use 18k gold to plate their hardware, so that tips the scale in their favour for me. Having said that, owning one Kelly would be enough but I’d enjoy many a Peekaboo because it’s playful. It’s still made with some of the best leathers and the different interiors and hardware combinations make it fun. (Also, I reckon Meredith has some serious dirt on the store Managers 😂. Her collection is unreal!)
Thanks for the great "unaffected" objective review! Downright hilarious in my opinion! Charging a fortune for unavailable, equal quality bags is not a winning strategy for Hermes!
I have to disagree about Fendi winning the variations round. Hermes have so many colours, multiple leathers and then 3 different types of hardware...the combinations are almost endless.

Great topic! A bit more on the interior point - to me the Kelly interior looks unfinished, raw and a bit cheap (harsh I know!). And I say cheap because it doesn’t come close to a peekaboo interior. A peekaboo interior is just divine. If you have selleria it’s interior is nappa often in a different hue. Often exotic details are included in the interiors which is beautiful. I’m all about the interior of bags and that is what has sold me on Fendi time and time again. Only thing I disagree with is holding value. Not only do peekaboos not hold their value, they are very hard to sell at any decent price and most consigners don’t even take Fendi (certainly not in Melbourne where only a couple hold the brand as most say it’s too hard to move unlike Chanel and Hermes). I couldn’t sell my pristine unused peekaboo for anything more than half it’s ticket price - it sold eventually but I lost over 3700 for a bag I never used ( I only sold it because the handle on the mini was too small. I had purchased it in lockdown so realised this fact too late!) I think that’s just because the Fendi market is more narrow. It’s not generally a factor for me at all but it is good to remember to choose wisely and I have certainly learned from my expensive mistake (s). Maybe a video on expensive mistakes would be fun - we could submit our embarrassing tales of self-inflicted loss and luxury retail madness 😂
Yeah I didn’t want to go into resale as some people don’t buy with the intention of reselling or comparing to Hermes resale isn’t fair haha but yeah even I don’t like selling fendi as you lose half the retail! So hard to sell! ❤️
Def will go for the Peekaboo for so many reasons. But Birkin, Kelly or peekaboo is not my style, I'm more of a Baguette type of girl. I heard Dale said the Peekabo got the Kelly vibes and I agree. Fendi is more fun though.

Yeah the softer Lambskin versions would do this, and Hermes Kelly’s in swift leather (softer Lambskin equivalent) have the same sort of issue too!
Yes I hated that about the Peekaboo but the Selleria version with a sturdy but slim bag liner and it’s 👌🏾

Yeah they‘re not for everyone! In the Kelly’s defense most people have their own way of positioning things and securing them to make it work so to each their own xx
I have two peekaboos...a red mini iconic and a grey medium sellaria...they are both phenomenally made and the leather is impeccable. My dream Hermes bag is a Kelly 28 or 32...but I'd be satisfied with my Fendi if I never got one!

For sure, once you get to a certain level of craftsmanship by the person making the bag and the quality of components, there isn’t a huge difference between different bags.
But I will say that I prefer one larger compartment to two smaller ones. I’d use a bag organizer and have more room for items.

I think the selleria fendi peekaboo leather quality is fantastic - very much like the ferragamo leather…. I think Ferragamo bags are also very underrated. 👍❤️

I believe Hermès receive the finest grades of leather and they do use 18k gold to plate their hardware, so that tips the scale in their favour for me. Having said that, owning one Kelly would be enough but I’d enjoy many a Peekaboo because it’s playful. It’s still made with some of the best leathers and the different interiors and hardware combinations make it fun. (Also, I reckon Meredith has some serious dirt on the store Managers 😂. Her collection is unreal!)

I have to disagree about Fendi winning the variations round. Hermes have so many colours, multiple leathers and then 3 different types of hardware...the combinations are almost endless.

Great topic! A bit more on the interior point - to me the Kelly interior looks unfinished, raw and a bit cheap (harsh I know!). And I say cheap because it doesn’t come close to a peekaboo interior. A peekaboo interior is just divine. If you have selleria it’s interior is nappa often in a different hue. Often exotic details are included in the interiors which is beautiful. I’m all about the interior of bags and that is what has sold me on Fendi time and time again. Only thing I disagree with is holding value. Not only do peekaboos not hold their value, they are very hard to sell at any decent price and most consigners don’t even take Fendi (certainly not in Melbourne where only a couple hold the brand as most say it’s too hard to move unlike Chanel and Hermes). I couldn’t sell my pristine unused peekaboo for anything more than half it’s ticket price - it sold eventually but I lost over 3700 for a bag I never used ( I only sold it because the handle on the mini was too small. I had purchased it in lockdown so realised this fact too late!) I think that’s just because the Fendi market is more narrow. It’s not generally a factor for me at all but it is good to remember to choose wisely and I have certainly learned from my expensive mistake (s). Maybe a video on expensive mistakes would be fun - we could submit our embarrassing tales of self-inflicted loss and luxury retail madness 😂
Yeah I didn’t want to go into resale as some people don’t buy with the intention of reselling or comparing to Hermes resale isn’t fair haha but yeah even I don’t like selling fendi as you lose half the retail! So hard to sell! ❤️

Def will go for the Peekaboo for so many reasons. But Birkin, Kelly or peekaboo is not my style, I'm more of a Baguette type of girl. I heard Dale said the Peekabo got the Kelly vibes and I agree. Fendi is more fun though.
