If it can play pcvr games smoothly without the need of a powerful pc and can access steam I'd buy it, but your totally right 1.5k is alot to drop at once for most

I thought it was a bit foolish to get a Quest 2 last summer, but after seeing the price tag of this, I'm glad I did.
The Quest Pro is for more serious VR users, for the best of the best, so I'm pretty sure the Quest 2 will be sold, the price increase still sucks though.
I'm waiting for the Quest 3. It should have most of these features for a lot less money, and even a much faster processor to go along with it if the leaks are true.

@@booogagaming5223 who exactly is it for, really? Lower refresh rate, lack of a facial interface in the box, and crappy battery makes it useless for even the most hard-core VR gamers. The super short battery, sub par resolution, and lack of fast charging makes it useless for business use cases because it wouldn't last long enough to complete tasks or work as a work station. It's not suited for gaming and it can't last long enough for business which means it has no audience in hard-core enthusiasts, business owners, or otherwise.

This headset is a real POS, and I was going to buy it as a replacement for my 3 monitors and Quest 2 before hearing the specs. Even for commercial use, you need more than 8 hours of battery life or super fast charging, and it has neither

It's certainly less than changing my triple monitor setup to something more portable like a powerful gaming laptop and portable monitors. I'm traveling a lot now that covid is pretty much over. The stationary setup doesn't work and I was hoping to use the quest pro as a mobile alternative. I actually expected it to cost about $1500 but I wanted decent specs, especially resolution and battery life. Not everyone is broke like you lmao

Everything lives up to the expectations except for the pricing.
And the battery life, resolution, and refresh rate. 1-2 hours, same resolution as Quest 2, and only 90hertz max.
@@zakarymcleod1850 quest 2 didnt start at 90hz. i expect this to go up with software updates. also the battery life might get better knowing how meta has updated previous oculusb and the resolution will be different i think when you consider the eye tracking.

It's the fact that it costs so much with horrid battery life, a downgraded refresh rate, no stock facial interface, and no upgrade in resolution for about triple the price. You're just paying the extra for face tracking, colored pass through, and a lighter build at the cost of everything else. It's literally a downgrade for anything that doesn't require mixed reality or facial features.
We're living in a time where "full color" is a selling point yet again lol

Considering Meta’s intention at one point (at least I thought I heard this somewhere) was to make VR and in turn the Metaverse accessible to everyone, a product at this price was… slightly out of my expectation. I understand what this is though and in all fairness it does looks incredible, so maybe we’ll see over time.
Yep. That's what they want but thats why they have Quest 2. The Quest Pro is more for enterprise and professional use tho. Its smart because businesses don't mind the 1500$ as much and this way they can create new tech for the pro line which will later go to the Quest consumer series

Watch any of their steamdeck videos, and you'll see why everyone loves Valve as a company. They are completely open and honest about everything and completely support the idea that you can do whatever you want with the hardware that you buy.
I will be riding out my Index until the Valve Deckard is released.
@Elite-Force Cinema Facebook is a scummy data-hungry company that does everything in their power to try to keep you from doing what you want with your own hardware so they can keep you in their ecosystem to keep you invested in them, where they can take a huge cut of sales.
Valve, of course, wishes for their users to be a part of the steam ecosystem, but rather than forcing people like facebook does, they keep users in the ecosystem by simply being the best, and providing god-tier customer service.
Everything Valve does is for the betterment of gaming and gamers as a whole. They are practically printing money from the steam store, so they don't need to use disgustingly scummy tactics like Facebook does.
TL;DR: Facebook is trying to brute-force a monopoly with their facebook money and scummy tactics while Valve prides themselves in being the trustworthy best option.

It does offer some cool new features though and gives us insight into what we may expect with the Quest 3. So I'm interested to see some real hands on tests with it.

I have this headset, not sure what all the hate is about, its amazing for PCVR and well worth its price, people are just ignoring how huge eye and facetracking is, this is wayy better than my quest 2.

The Quest 2 is for a wider market. The Quest Pro is for high-end. Learnings from the Quest Pro will funnel to Quest 3, etc. It’s sad how few people understand the basics of Meta’s strategy (consumer tech in general).
Who is it for though? You can literally only use it for 2 hours at a time regardless of weather or not you use PC VR because the controllers are estimated to have the same battery life. It has the same resolution as the quest 2. The xr abilities are overshadowed by other enterprise solutions. The refresh rate is lower and will stay lower than the quest 2 and they're asking for 3 times the money.

Isnt this like double the consistently leaked price? Not that I really expected it to be fully accurate but over $1000 is crazy unless it has the best VR specs and most features possible. If its main improvement is mixed reality then I dont see many people looking forward to getting one.

Given the housing constraints, we would have liked to see a battery-replaceable system like the VIVEFocus3 if it were an enterprise-oriented product.

Lower resolution than the Quest 2, only 72-90hz, a 2 hour battery life on the headset and controllers, $50 extra for the facial cover, essentially the same cpu as the Quest 2, and for the price of... $1500??? What a joke.

Quest pro has 3 led displays for battery status (while in quest 2 those leds are visible in virtual reality + app)
Same resolution, pro has more ram (not much difference) since the quest 2 games do not have great graphics (unless you play pcvr games wich is great)
Pro has elite strap , while you can get quest 2 elite strap for cheaper in other websites
Pro has 1 hour more battery, while if you play quest 2 with link cable it will last way longer
The pro has spiky thumbstick , not really sure if it is comfortable pressing it in games + pro does have a finger rest area , while quest 2 does.
Pro costs 1500$ while quest 2 300-400$
It looks so much better but i just think its too expensive just for a headset with some minor changes from the quest 2 i have maybe if it was $700-900 i would buy it but $1,500 is X3 of the quest 2. Just consider lowering it to at least 1000 or 900. Thank you.

This device with cameras along the whole strap to capture the environment in 360 degrees is fundamental, this way people can go places together or visit each other, travel, and so on, such a feature is self-generating content one because when visiting a place, for example, the content it s self-generated in realtime by the VR device

i will wait for the reviews bevore i buy. i thought it might be a perfect replacement for my Quest and i was expecting a lot of improvement. But less than 3 hours battery without replacable batterys would be a nogo for me. Also at this pricetag the Sidecover should be included. There are still many questionmarks. i also didnt saw much about the XR usecases and games. The price would be fine if everything works and it really provides a next gen VR /XR experience.
I have a feeling waiting for the Quest 3 is gonna be worthwhile. For personal use you're not gonna miss much of the features, and hopefully it will also have the XR2+ chip

Self-Tracking Controller? WOW! This is exciting, but I always have issues with the black Screen for My Rift CV1, Rift S & Quest 2 it all has the same head sensor issue.

you could get the quest 2 (which is basically the same as this but doesn't look as better), a whole gaming PC (could be about 600), a ps5 (around 500) and you still have $100 more to spend on the VR its self such as the facial interface and games! even if you are not going to get the vr, the controllers are still worth $300 too and I'm pretty sure you're just playing in a very dark environment if it's happening with all of your headsets
A perfect example of specs not showing the full story, the quest pro is much further ahead when comparing any other headset below or even slightly above its price point.

Yes, Quest Pro is expensive and a few things are degraded (E.G. Battery, resolution) compared to Quest 2, but let's look on the bright side.
Meta has confirmed that they will be bringing some of the features from Quest Pro to Quest 3 (Which is assumed to be released next year) with reports suggesting it'll include color passthrough, pancake optics, IPD adjustment wheel (I'm ok with the Quest 2's IPD adjustment, but I know everyone wants the IPD wheel like the OG Quest), etc.

this is not a Quest 3, it will come later and will be priced closer to Quest 2.

£1000 was the most I was willing to go. Plus I get this device is focus for the creative / business. But a lot of gamer would of jump on if a high end game designed just for the quest pro had been launched at the same time. At the £1500 price mark there was not enough over a quest or even a valve index to temp me. Disappointed there was no talk about eye tracking and maybe enabling Foveated rendering on pc vr apps so they could run at higher res. Or how about a quest emulator for Pc vr rift so quest game could run on Pc and maybe at higher res etc.

I don’t have a meta quest pro but I have heard that the front top thing gives you a burn and a headache that feels like your skull is splitting open. And your eyes aren’t even that close enough to the lenses. The meta quest pro also might have some gapes due to a non-full face cover.
I purchased quest 2 and end up returning it. I felt like I’m in a different world after wearing it for 1 hour. Felt so weird. It took 6 hours just to get out from this feeling
This is normal when you first start but you get used to it pretty fast

Everybody feels that when they're new to VR. After a few weeks you won't feel anything once your brain adapts.
I thought they wanted to get folk into VR not put them off.
This was the deciding factor on whether I got this or the pico 4 and the pico just won
