GM Shirov is AWESOME... he got screwed out of the 1997 World Chess Championship funding dried up because of a natural disaster in Spain and then Kasparov refused to play him. Shirov beat Kramnik in their challenger eliminator... Kramnik never qualified to play Kasparov. What a sick joke.
Absolutely. Alexei was never the same after Kasparov screwed him over. Always a pleasure to watch him play. His Chessbase series are amongst the best educational chess instruction ever imo. Rarely mentioned but practical gold.
Check NM’s face when he played Bf6. He was like “a-haaa I got your rook” because his next move would be Ng7 and the rook would be trapped. But Shirov saw an early equalizer with a fork played Rxd6, followed by cxd6, and Nxd6. But, Shirov gained overconfidence and that might have prevented him from calculating Nxc8 as a better option than going after the hanging knight on h5. That’s what led to the draw.

After Rg8 what is Rg1 followed by Nc8 ending up with a pawn extra?

no..Nxc8 is only +0,5... N back to f5 is +8
Oui, dommage, après le brillant Txd6!! Schirov aurait pu conclure la partie avec Cxç8 et Dxh5.
Shirov la vió negra en esta partida, saludos
