  • @godsmack4

    I feel there is a general misconception about Python. It is definitely an easy language to pickup (dynamically typed). But most people just write small scripts and reach to this conclusion.
    If you really want to be a good software developer / engineer, you need to have a good understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
    I have met so many people with cs background who say they love Python, but when I ask them about magic/dunder/special methods, generators, iterators, decorators they say that they haven't ever heard or read about them. They just go through some speedy tutorials.

    • @godsmack4
      @godsmack4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Aspiranthere7 Please have a complete understanding of data structures, algorithms and time complexity before zeroing down on any domain. If you have a good grasp of above-mentioned things, then language is just another tool as the underlying logic is the same even if the language is different.

      Ashish K I’m studying for a Data science course at Bachelor degree level, so I’ve started learning python at least basics, in terms of commands which are Available and what they do. Would you say learning about data structures and algorithms really help? To be honest I’m moderately struggling to get the language down. Suppose I’ve only been studying it for a few days now

    • @hritwiksom3032
      @hritwiksom3032 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SozeSR I dunno how to explain to you, how much classes and array are important in everyday life.
      Oh boy, here we go. Array is well like a list or a table, you need a lot of them to store data. But in data science field you'd rather work with linked lists/stacks which are it's advanced form to say in the least.
      Classes most important and basic data structure, Say a student class with name, rollno members and getmarks() method or function. Now you need to create a file storing marks of 3 students. A naive way of doing it would be to store the data in different lists for each student and somehow linking those three saying they are similar types but of different students. Figuring that somehow is going to boggle your head, say you did it but now you need to separate them on the basis of schools attending for 100 students. Here's where class comes to the rescue, you create different classes for each school storing it's students' data. Now all these classes are a subclass or say a child of a much bigger class called schools. Everyone reading the code will be able to understand how one student is related or different from other. This is a really basic example but it should explain what it does.
      Try to understand it instead of just using it.

    Hi, first of all thanks for the knowledge you are sharing. I need your advice on achieving my ultimate goal to getting into machine learning. I'm basically a collage drop-out with poor math's skills. For past five years I'm working with android application developing. After doing lot's of online researches I designed a curriculum for my ML dream.
    1.datastructure and algorithms
    2.python
    3. Mathematics (as I'm not good at it)
    Multivariable calculus, Linear algebra, statistics and probability
    4. ML (planing the course by Andrew NG in courcera)
    What do you think of it, am I on a right path. Please share your advice. Thanks in advance

    • @johndoesson
      @johndoesson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in a similar seat. Dropped out of economics after statistics course to start from scratch as data engineer specialized in ML/DL.
      The things you list are highly relevant but I don't know if it's optimal to prioritize those things in that order.
      If your capabilities in math are poor, I would suggest to focus on that first maybe. This is a field that is "dominated" by math, now you could probably start relatively quick with ML but I think that short cut is not worth it.
      I asked a PhD in A.I and he told me to focus on python and math (what you listed) for the first 1-2 years to get the foundation before going to ML/NN's. Good luck.

    Today marks my journey in a new world, and I want to tell you guys my story. When I was younger computers really fascinated me others were out playing sports or doing fun things when I was inside learning how to remove viruses from an old laptop so I can play Cartoon Network games when I was 7. I soon lost this niche I had developed by high school fully. I got into doing drugs and hanging around “the wrong crowd” but as I see my life going in a downwards spiral I soon realized that we are all given a gift a thing that we are good at because we just are with countless hours of practice put in and we don’t even know it. That for me is computers and technology in general. So from this day on I will start my journey on becoming fluent in all programming languages and developing my first AI by age 18 I’m currently 16. Wish me luck friends.

    Your advice was brilliant. Your English in a Hindi syntax (creole) made it very hard for me to get through. (Linguistic syntax is not just grammar. Find a speech coach, please.)

      Study Django Framework. I don't care if your going to use a book or not but i would prefer learning online (youtube, djangoproject.com, or stackoverflow) that's all you need.

    Enough of 'it's stupid to try to do everything with just Python'. I don't even understand why you feel SHAME just because you found it was naive thought later. Sounds like very weird mindset.

      I don't think it's easy to hack, Django framework has very good built-in security.
