for the money and usage within our ham radio hobby its hard to beat the tinySA in value for money, truly great addition to any HAMs equipment set.

I own 2 very heavy, very old, and very expensive HP spectrum analyzers that cover a combined range from 40 Hz to 18 GHz, and an Anritsu portable unit that goes up to over 7GHz. Having said that, I haven't used any of them ever since I got a TinySA, and then a TinySA ULTRA. Those 2 tiny units and a couple of mixers, dividers, and attenuators fulfill all of my needs so far. Unless I needed to prepare a paper for publication, a measurement for commercial use, or I had to tune a set of repeater cans, I simply wouldn't bother to use my large, expensive gear ever again. The TinySA does it all. The only real caveat is one that applies to all test and measurement equipment, but particularly to the TinySA. One needs to understand what the TinySA can do, what it can't, and how to do it. You must LEARN how to set its parameters, and what it is you are looking at. That's really the only tradeoff for the enormously lower price, and the enormously higher convenience. For a hobbyist, that is an easy tradeoff to accept. We like what we do, and we typically ave the time to learn, but not the money to spend on commercial gear that sometimes can cost as much as or more than a car.

Hi Bill. I received a TinySA from Bangood yesterday. I has a play with the original firmware before saving it and uploaded the latest version. As you say, it's a bit of a steep learning curve but I'm amazed at what it can do for the price. It's gone into the case with its mates - a NanoVNA-H and a nanoVNA-F V2. You can't have too many test instruments! Next on the shopping list will have to be an oscilloscope.

Nice one, and yes both the TinySA and the NanoVNA are incredible for the size and cost!

He did not set the RBW of the Siglent to 3 kHz. so the results will be different."
