I feel the same about fireworks. my dog also has noise anxiety, it's heartbreaking to see him go through it, I haven't even celebrated July 4th since I've had him for years as I'm always with him home soothing him literally all night even day to day if a truck backs up making a beeping noise or any beeping noise sets him off, too.

Not even a Karen in the beginning of this. It’s called compassion and empathy. I feel the same way. I don’t mind the one day whatever it is but everyone who does it’s for weeks and even the whole month, it’s really rude and inconsiderate.
You’re the only person I can say this to, who might actually be impressed, but when I visited the Florida Keys, we visited the Turtle Hospital and at that time, they told us we were going to get to see some turtles that most humans will never, ever see... They had around 50 Kemp’s Ridley baby sea turtles they were rehabilitating. It was pretty amazing.
Awww yay!! Kemp’s Ridley’s are actually the main species I worked with, as most of the ones that got stuck and stranded were Kemp’s, so this means even more to me to hear about!! I always got them when they were adults and in their most vulnerable moments and have never seen them as hatchlings, so hearing about them being precious new babies full of life always makes my day (and makes me lowkey jealous too) That’s very true about being one of very few humans that will ever get to see them- they’re undoubtedly the rarest and most endangered species of sea turtle! Definitely brag worthy! 😭👏🏼

I had neighbors who set off fireworks for a full MONTH this year and it was the worst days on my life. Having to hear that nonstop from June 1st to July 4th made me never want to hear a firework again.

I’ve had a dog who was terrified of storms and fireworks and it was heartbreaking in his old age when he was nearly paralyzed in his back legs and he lost control of his Bowles he was so scared and the more you try to comfort them the more it reinforces that those noises are bad. In my city, fireworks happen for the whole month of July, and in other times during the year. My dog runs to the basement or the first floor bathroom and goes into the corner of the shower, crying all night. It makes me cry with her sometimes.

As a 20-year military veteran, I feel you when it comes to fireworks and PTSD. I was deployed to Iraq and other hotspots and I have never been the same after that because of the constant noise, fires and other insanity. While I don’t get scared around fireworks, I don’t really like the noise they generates. Thanks for that rant. It was just what I needed.

Okay girl THANK YOU for the firework rant. In the UK we have fireworks night on the fourth of November, supposed to be ONE NIGHT, but instead people do them in their gardens all week and poor wildlife and dogs get so distressed and hedgehogs get accidentally burned in backyard bonfires. 😩😩

I just fell a little bit more in love with you! Thank you for speaking out about the negative impact fireworks have. Yes I think they are pretty, and I have fond memories of my childhood blah blah blah, but I live in northern California in Sonoma county where we had some terrible wildfires, plus we have to pack up our kitties and take them away from the noise as they are terrified by them. So it's just not a favorite holiday for that reason. I'm a Karen too I guess!
