This video covers what made me decide to take such a long break, the fun and nature therapy I experienced on the break, and what happened to me and my channel BECAUSE of the break. Self-Care is so important for all of us, and the end results are always positive.

Hi, I'm Kim, and this is Olive City Oasis. I live on my 2.5 acre property here in far northern California, Zone 9B.
I like to emphasize easy gardening anyone can do - even brand-new beginners! I also have an ongoing obsession with growing interesting fruit and nut trees!
On my channel, I enjoy sharing my fruit trees, my veggie and herb gardens, perennial flowers, garden-to-table recipes, and simple living garden ideas. As a senior, solo, frugal gardener, I keep things down-to-earth, casual, and encouraging. I also like to talk about self-care through gardening because I believe experiencing nature is extremely important to our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Wow, 33 years of home schooling, writing novels, YT, family life, gardening on a pretty epic scale - no wonder you needed a break, Kim!! So glad it's had such a rejuvenating effect & spurred you on to be even more creative - nothing like a road trip! That Winchester house sounds creepy - that poor woman, all that wealth but no peace or contentment. I've always been amazed how little attention you channel garners - even as a complete novice I could see how valuable & informative your content was & gardening is such a hugely popular hobby - flummoxed and flabbergasted that you don't get hundreds of thousands of views! But, perhaps that is changing for the better - fingers crossed! (TBH, the analytics side of things is a mystery to me - the algorithm giveth & taketh away!) PS congrats on monetisation, so very well deserved! :)

Ugh, writer's burnout finally hit me after writing seventeen novels, five novellas, and about fourteen short stories. I took most of this year off, only writing one novelette and three short stories. Sometimes you have to say, "Enough!" and take a break, and get away from all of it. I am starting to get back into the groove, but taking it slow with three projects on my desk, two novels, Exiled From Earth and NASTI Business, and an anthhology, Tales From The Galactic Rim. I have all sixteeen stories already written for the collection, and just need to put them together.
My little chicks are adapting to their new home, leaving the coop when I open the door, and returning to it at nighfall. They look pretty ugly now, with them losing their down, and feathers growing in. The larger chicken run is nearly complete. All it lacks is a few zip ties, tarping the top, and filling in the gaps under the frame. I also need to add a branch for the chicks to perch on, a swing, mirror, dust bath, and a toy or two to keep them entertained. It will probably be a month before I let them into the larger chicken run. For now, they are enjoying their new super-delux chicken condo, and its smaller run.

No, seriously, that's a lot of writing so it's understandable that you might need a break. Sounds like a lot of interesting sci-fi books though. 😎
Glad your chicks are doing well. They're so funny-looking for a while before they emerge as beautiful adult birds. 😂 You've outdone yourself on that chicken run! I bet they'll absolutely love it!
People often see my coop and call it a luxury penthouse (😁!)- but my chickens give me tons of healthy, delicious eggs, so I figure they deserve a nice place to sleep and lay those eggs. 😎

Oh my God I have that disorder and guess how I discovered it. In 2008 my significant other got a job in the South towns of Buffalo New York. I moved there with him I never understood or knew about the lake effect and oh my god it was gray everyday and it rained everyday and during the winter it snowed and snowed and snowed and I even got locked in my house we all did one year because of the blizzard and how much it was snowing. Not even my boss who sent a huge backhoe over could dig me out. It took me a week of hard work to dig myself out. Not even snowblower would work because it was 8:00 and 9 ft of snow.
