What a natural talent gifted voice that wasn't given enough recognition. She was flawless in her voice. This is a voice I could listen to all day long.
@@angelmccoy8725 I've just been listening to more of Nell, only discovered her the other day, and she sure did have a very powerful belting voice and a piercing sassy bluesy sound, and a unique style in which she put it down. Her stage persona was excellent too, made for Broadway, super energised and at one with the music, technical vocal skills and accurate speed of voice diction etc.. A very talented woman. I wish she'd have become a recording artist, put down a few albums in the studio with some top producers, funky tracks and big soulful ballads.
Nell Carter was an amazing talent + an incredible choir singing in the 'shaped note' style...this is indeed heaven on a bun! I wish I knew how to remaster this to better quality. But a great find, nonetheless
I miss this beautiful precious soul! Her time on this great earth was short but her legacy sings on! Nell Carter was a bright shining star on this Earth, must be one of the brightest stars and heavens! Nell we miss and love you!
Mr. Baldwin I want to thank you for uploading the tracks from this rare gem you have. I have loved Nell Carter since I was a small kid so having the opportunity to listen to this meant a lot. I was so upset the day she passed away so I decided to go for a drive that evening and got my first speeding ticket. Thank you again

Folklore has it that she was possessed by a higher power as she sang Amazing Grace for the shocked congregation, the story has it that she left the church in a state of total chaos, a congregation totally wiped out by the ferocity of her voice. Nobody sings Amazing Grace like Aretha did in the early 70s, in fact nobody sang anything better because the voice is in a league by itself, with no rival. Nell has a big expressive voice though, without doubt.
