Kurt Warner had 4 good years, won a SB on a fluke play to Isaac Bruce, played average in the postseason and 3 SB appearances. He's the most overrated HOF member ever. Voters are enamored with stats, so if that's the case, where's Esiason, Kreig, or Bledsoe? What about Jim Plunkett?

Alex Smith is also the father to the modern day RPO's. Doug Pedereson and Matt Naggy actually stated that they based their offense around Alex Smith in Utah(Urban Meyer) and that he helped them develop their playbooks for their new teams.
Smith could probably be a great coach in the future of GM.
He also got to play under some of the most influential coaches in Football history.
      College- Urban Meyer
2005- Mike Mcarthy (Packers) and Mike Nolan
      2006-Norv Turner ( Cowboys 90s OC coordinator)
      2007- Bum
      2008-Mike Martz(Rams 99 HC)
      2009- IR
2010- His renaissance actually starts when he returns from injury in 2010.

2013- Andy Reid (HC) Doug Pederson (OC)
      2016-Matt Naggy(OC)

As a Bucs fan, I resemble that remark. Honestly, what is it with their draft choices? Year after year the Bucs get great talented players who are supposed to turn things around, and they do eventually, but do so for another team. The big hiccup I've noticed is the inability to staff a decent front offense line. Do that and even mediocre QBs can look great. Current QB Winston has potential but he needs better protection.

I lived in the Bay Area and Northern California during the Joe Montana-Steve Young era. My assessment of him when he arrived in San Francisco was that he was mentally disorganized but had Hall of Fame potential. I even called a sports show and explained that he was better off sitting behind Montana than going somewhere else where he would end his career with a great highlight reel and a lot of injuries. The host gave me the rush before I could get to the eventual Hall of Fame part. Show hosts are like that and it is hard to get a word in unless they let you do it. They talk very fast and have to keep the show moving.
I lived in San Jose in the 1970's and 1980's and hung out at the same same pub the 49er players went to when they trained at San Jose City College. I knew a lot about Plunkett and saw him in the pub a number of times. Today he is back in the BayArea and has a lot of physical problems as a result of playing football, though fortunately apparently not CTE issues. These guys make a lot of money, but they pay a high price for the glory we get to groove on.

That’s not true, the Falcons drafted Favre 33rd overall as just the 3rd QB taken in the 1991 draft so they absolutely had plans of him being the teams future franchise QB. But him and Atlanta coach Jerry Glanville didn’t get along so he was sent packing after one season. They probably didn’t expect him to do as well as he did, but they certainly never thought he lacked talent .

Wow! What about Drew Brees? Could used a redshirt year in his rookie season. Awful in his 2nd and 3rd year. He was a turnover machine. People forgot that chargers drafted Eli Manning because they wanted him to replace Brees after his dud of a 3rd year. The chargers lucked out at getting Phillip Rivers out of the Eli trade when he and his families don’t want to be in SD. Brees was considered a terrible QB if anyone remember that season when the chargers got the number one pick.

I've never heard of a quarterback drafted in the 2nd round even discussed as a bust. That's only for 1rst rounders. Also, his first year he didn't even start.

    • @ultrustic

@@kalel33 2nd rounders are high draft picks that are expected to make the team and start. Brees was drafted 33rd overall in that draft and fell in that draft only because of his height. It was mentioned in that he didn't start in his rookie season. Shoot... the video showed Chris Chandler, a bust in the 4th round. Based on that guy's logic... a disappointment in early stages that flourishes in later years. That fits Drew Brees, who was an absolute mess in his early years that now more than flourished.

@@kalel33 Christian Hackenberg, Geno Smith, Jimmy Clausen, Deshone Kiser, Brock Oswiller, Quincy Carter, .... I can go on. I'm sure you're familiarized with all those guys. Plus this guy in the video is not talking about a draft bust perse. He's just trying to do a video about guys who started off very badly and turned around their career. The author of this video uses the word "bust" to describe that on his video in a bad way to hype his backings. There are plenty of people out there that uses that word when a player didn't fulfill an expectation. And yes, even a guy get drafted or making it on a team can give teams expectations and done badly. Hence, the word "bust" get thrown around. 2nd round is a starter quality picks and all those guys I have mentioned comes with high expectations to lead the teams that drafted them.

@@ultrustic 2nd round quarterback draft picks are "work in progress" quarterbacks. Most 2nd round quarterbacks don't ever start a game for the team that drafted them. They want 2nd round quarterbacks to be "capable backups on the cheap" or they're rolling the dice that they could develop them into a quality starter. They do not have the same expectations that 1rst round quarterbacks have, which is why you cannot name Christian Hackenberg, Geno Smith, Jimmy Clausen, Deshone Kiser, Brock Oswiller, Quincy Carter busts.

Glad that they included Jim Plunkett. Always liked him as a player and as a person. Like a lot quarterbacks, he was a good passer as long as as he got good protection. The Raiders gave him the protection which New England could not. I suspect that most QBs on this list had the same problem.

Worst decision ever by the Steelers. The second worst decision by the Steelers was NOT drafting Jim Brown 2 year later in 1957. Could you imagine a backfield where Unitas is under center and Jim Brown toting the rock? Those 2 decisions epitomizes the Steelers as a franchise before Chuck Noll came to town and it doomed the team to 20 more years of losing.
The player the Steelers took instead of Jim Brown in 57' was Len Dawson. Sadly he wasted away on the Steelers and Browns benches before thriving in the AFL with the KC Chiefs.

He was a serviceable QB with the Raiders, but was never HOF caliber. Those Superbowl teams won with great defense and a tremendous running game. He had a career .500 winning percentage (72-72), threw more picks than TD's (198 vs 164), and only completed 52.5% of his passes. He was never voted to a Pro-Bowl and was never selected All-Pro (1st or 2nd team).
Daryle Lamonica and Ken Stabler had much better careers with the Raiders, and were more consistent winners than Plunkett ever was.
