[As Turkish academician researching on Cappadocian Greeks for years ]For those who concerned identity of Cappadocian ‘Greeks’, especially whose mind is polluted by Turkish-national thesis:
    1. Most of the Cappadocian Greek had forgotten the Greek language [Cappadocian Greek] in time due to being an ethno-linguistic enclave minority in Middle Anatolia in contrast with other Greek societies who had preserved their Greek language such as Pontic Greeks who lived remote mountain villages of Black Sea Region or Ionian Greeks who were majority in their region. Cappadocian Greeks has adopted Turkish language due to the facts that the lingua franca of the Middle Anatolia was Turkish, they were minority and they lived vast plains of Middle Anatolia opened to cultural influence of Turkish majority easily.
    2. However, there were also those speaking Cappadocian Greek dialect living in geographically isolated villages and towns. For instance, Farasha town [today’s Kayseri/Yahyalı/ Çamlıca village] were speaking a distinctive dialect of Byzantine Greek heavily influenced by Turkish vocabulary. Cappadocian Greek had considered as extinct language until proved that they are still used by Cappadocian exchangees in Northern Greece by Mark Janse and Dimitris Papazachariou. Those middle-aged people were speaking Cappadocian ‘greek’ dialect fluently.
    3. Additionally, Many books concerning Cappadocian Greek Dialects’ grammar and vocabulary (e.g. Sille dialect, Malakopi(Nevşehir) dialect, Uluağaç dialects etc.) had been published in Greece recently.
    4. Consequently, while Greek society in some villages such as Agirnas, Germir, Talas in Kayseri, where Muslim Turkish people were majority, had adopted Turkish language in time, but they continued to use Greek alphabet to write Turkish as Turkophone Armenians wrote Turkish with Armenian letters, because alphabet was a symbol for religion and identity. However, according to verbal interview with Agirnas exchangees, they were also stating that their grandma’s had some knowledge of Cappadocian Greek even though their mother tongue turned into Turkish in time.
    5. There is no such thing as Turkish Orthodoxy. A group of Turkophone Greeks, who wanted to get rid of the population exchange in history, tried to adopt the 'Turkish' identity politically but to preserve the 'orthodox' belief, and they tried to create such an artificial identity for this purpose. The result is unsuccessful, they are sent with the exchange, only Pope Eftim is exempted from this with his family because he is a resident of Istanbul. Everyone has a mouth and speaks, but no one reads openly or listens to people who have spent years researching on this subject.
